Islas Malvinas Islas Malvinas, understood as the sovereignty dispute between the Argentine Republic and the United Kingdom over the Malvinas Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich and the surrounding maritime spaces, has its origins on January 3, 1833 when the United Kingdom, violating Argentine territorial integrity, illegally occupied the islands and expelled the Argentine authorities, preventing their return as well as the settlement of Argentines from the continental territory. Since then, Argentina has regularly protested the British occupation, ratifying its sovereignty and affirming that its recovery, in accordance with international law, constitutes a permanent and inalienable objective. The Malvinas Case has been described by the United Nations as a special and particular case of colonial decolonization, where there is an underlying sovereignty dispute and therefore, unlike traditional colonial cases, the principle of self-determination of peoples is not applicable. On December 16, 1965, the General Assembly adopted resolution 2065 (XX), through which it recognized the existence of a sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom and invited both countries to enter into negotiations to find a peaceful and definitive solution to the controversy, taking into account the interests of the inhabitants of the islands. Since then, more than 40 resolutions of the General Assembly and the Special Committee on Decolonization have reiterated this call. In addition to the successive resolutions of the General Assembly and the treatment of the Question in the Decolonization Committee, Argentina has the firm support of the countries of Latin America for its legitimate rights of sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime spaces, and the call for the resumption of negotiations is shared by the Organization of American States, the G77 plus China, and other multilateral and regional forums. The Case of Islas Malvinas was, is and will be a central issue for all Argentines, as expressed in the National Constitution through its First Transitory Provision: "The Argentine Nation ratifies its legitimate and imprescriptible sovereignty over the Malvinas, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces, as they are an integral part of the national territory. The recovery of said territories and the full exercise of sovereignty, respecting the way of life of its inhabitants and in accordance with the principles of International Law, constitute a permanent and inalienable objective of the Argentine people."

@@Alexstenko thx!
Historical background Islas Malvinas were part of the area under Spanish jurisdiction since the entry into force of the first international instruments that delimited the "New World" shortly after the discovery in 1492. The Papal Bulls and the Treaty of Tordesillas of 1494 constitute the first instruments that receive titles from Spain in accordance with the international law of the time. From the beginning of the 16th century and for most of it, only navigators in the service of Spain traveled the maritime routes along the South American coast, advancing southwards in search of the interoceanic passage. This advance took place in the discovery of Islas Malvinas by members of the Magellan expedition in 1520. From that moment on, they were registered in European cartography with various names and remained within the spaces under the effective control of the Spanish authorities. . During the course of the 17th century, Islas Malvinas were sighted by navigators from other nations who ventured into Spanish domains at the risk of the reaction and protests that Spain made when it heard of such expeditions. But the entire southern region of America, with its coasts, seas and islands, was indisputably preserved under Spanish sovereignty through the various treaties discussed in this period, such as the "American" Treaty of 1670, between Spain and England. The Peace of Utrecht, signed in 1713, assured the integrity of Spain's possessions in South America and confirmed its exclusive right to navigation in the South Atlantic. England accepted these clauses as a signatory of the Utrecht agreements and of later treaties of the 18th century that ratified them. However, towards the middle of that century, Islas Malvinas began to be the object of interest of Great Britain and France, which aspired to have a strategically located establishment facing the Strait of Magellan. In 1749, Spain became aware of a British project to establish a settlement in the Islas Malvinas and protested strongly to the government of the United Kingdom, which consequently gave up on the project. Later, when in 1764 France established the settlement of "Port Louis" on Soledad Island, Spain opposed it and obtained recognition from France of its right to the islands. The French government ordered the evacuation and handover of the settlement to the Spanish authorities. This handover took place in 1767 and since then there has been a Spanish governor resident in the Falklands, dependent on Buenos Aires. The year after the French settlement, a British expedition clandestinely arrived in the archipelago and, as a follow-up to it, in 1766 English sailors built a fort in a place they called "Port Egmont", on an island located west of Gran Malvina. Despite the secrecy with which the government of the United Kingdom carried out this, Spain became aware of it and protested insistently, stating its rights. As Spain didn't get an acceptable response, sought out the intruding settlement and when found it in 1770, forcibly expelled its occupants. This action brought about a war, which was avoided by a bilateral agreement signed in 1771. This agreement consisted of a Declaration by which Spain returned "Port Egmont" to the British to save the honour of the British King, making express reservation of its sovereignty over the whole of Islas Malvinas, and an Acceptance of the Declaration in which Great Britain remained silent about the reservation of Spanish rights. As part of the agreement it was verbally agreed that the English would withdraw from "Port Egmont" later, which occurred in 1774. Since then the Spanish authorities based in Puerto Soledad continued to exercise their jurisdiction and control over the whole archipelago. In 1790, with the signing of the Treaty of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Great Britain undertook not to establish any settlements on the eastern or western coasts of South America or on the adjacent islands already occupied by Spain, as was the case of the Malvinas. The succession of Spanish governors in the Malvinas Islands, which reached a total of thirty-two, was continuous until 1811, when the garrison of Puerto Soledad was required from Montevideo for the defence of the monarchy on the occasion of the recently unleashed War of Independence. In the framework of this conflict, the first national governments of the United Provinces took into account the Malvinas in various administrative acts, which they considered an integral part of their territory, inherited from Spain by succession of States according to the uti possidetis juris of 1810. . In 1820, despite the internal struggles facing the Argentine State, Argentine Navy Colonel David Jewett took office in the Malvinas Islands on behalf of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata. This was done in a public ceremony in Puerto Soledad, attended by sealers and whalers of various nationalities, including Americans and British, who stopped at the islands in the course of their work. The news was published in the media of the United States and the United Kingdom, without receiving any official comment in those countries. Nor did Great Britain make any claim to the Malvinas Islands in the process of recognition of the Argentine State, which culminated in the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation of 1825. During the 1820s, the Argentine governments carried out various acts demonstrating their sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, including the appointment of governors, legislation on fishing resources and the granting of territorial concessions. Within this framework, Puerto Soledad developed, whose inhabitants were engaged in cattle breeding, hunting sea lions and providing services to ships that called at port. On June 10, 1829, the Argentine government issued a decree creating the Political and Military Command of the Malvinas. After having remained silent for more than half a century during which Spanish and Argentine administrations had succeeded one another without opposition in Islas Malvinas in November 1829 the United Kingdom protested this decree, in the context of a revival of its strategic interest in the South Atlantic. In late 1831 a United States warship razed Puerto Soledad in retaliation for the capture of seal-fishing vessels of that nationality that had been found in violation of fishing legislation by the Argentine authorities. The Argentine government immediately began the process of obtaining reparation from the United States and at the same time sent a schooner of the Navy to restore order in the islands, which had been broken by the irruption of the American ship. When order had been restored in Puerto Soledad, on January 3, 1833, a corvette of the British Royal Navy appeared, supported by another warship that was nearby, threatening to use superior force and demanding the surrender and handing over of the place. After the expulsion of the Argentine authorities, the commander of the British ship left one of the inhabitants of Puerto Soledad in charge of the flag and sailed back to his base. In 1834, the English government would assign a Navy officer to remain on the islands and only in 1841 would it make the decision to "colonize" the Malvinas, appointing a "governor." The act of force of 1833, carried out in peacetime, without any prior communication or declaration from a government friendly to the Argentine Republic, was immediately rejected and protested. On January 16, 1833, when the first news of what had happened in the Malvinas Islands reached Buenos Aires, the Argentine government asked the British Chargé d'Affaires for explanations, as he was not aware of the action of his country's ships. On January 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs presented a protest to the British official, which was renewed and expanded on several occasions by the Argentine representative in London. The Argentine presentations were met with negative responses from the government of the United Kingdom. The issue remained pending and was recognized as such by the British Secretary of Foreign Affairs in 1849. On the Argentine side, it continued to be raised at different levels of government and was the subject of debates in the National Congress. In 1884, given the lack of response to the protests, Argentina proposed taking the issue to international arbitration, which was also rejected without giving reasons by the United Kingdom. During the first half of the 20th century, successive Argentine governments generalized the practice of presenting protests to the United Kingdom and making submissions and reservations to the corresponding multilateral organizations, whenever they became aware of unilateral British acts that disregarded Argentine sovereignty. It was also during this period that the controversy expanded to other island territories in the South Atlantic and Antarctic, over which Argentina, the United Kingdom and in some cases third countries began to develop different activities. In 1908, Great Britain annexed these territories (South Georgia, South Orkney, South Shetland and South Sandwich Islands, as well as the Antarctic territory called Graham Land by the British) as "dependencies of the colony" of the Malvinas Islands. On various occasions, Argentina expanded its protests
This is such a great video. It is very similar to the land around the straits of Magellan. Sometimes I think of visiting but it's really expensive and nothing much else is there.

I want to move Argentina 2year this country is safe or not
Well, as for me BUENOS Aires is a safest mega city in Latino America. However it’s very relative. Because people has different life experiences and expectations ✌️
LA MAS GRANDE RIQUEZA DE BUENOS AIRES Y ARGENTINA ES LA QUE HAN TRAIDO DE TODAS PARTES DEL MUNDO CON UN SUEÑO EN COMUN VIVIR LIBRES SER FEIiCES Y LOGRAR SUS SUEÑOS EN PAZ ..italianos, españoles, alemanes, rusos ,ucranianos , Polacos ,etc ..
Well said! Thank you for your comment 🙏
Sounds expensive to me - the $600 range is 4 times more (!) - than can be had in Siem Reap for example ! A fully furnished decent studio is $120 - $150 range w/o a lease (!) - month to month !!! Been hearing all about how 'cheap' Argentina is supposed be (?) - BUT - I just don't see it ?!? Rent seems like it is almost the same 'there' as in middle America - away from the expensive areas on the coasts. -?- Not a highly desirable place to move to when they want you to pay taxes too ?!? SS income for senior expats is tax exempt in Cambodia the Philippines or Vietnam. 🤔
Thank you for the comment and for the useful information! It’s really expensive now. Those days when Buenos Aires was cheap are gone. It was a year ago (this is from communication with many expats). However BA is a mega city, to be compared with Bogota, San Paulo Mexico City or New York. And comparing to those places, considering functional transportation systems and pretty safe environment plus opportunity to find your tribe, your people, your community it’s not that expensive. And I know locals, who are leaving outside of BA , renting studios for $250-350 long term.
Having been one of your solo travelers whose cruise - actually 2 of them - you made wonderful, I am dying laughing.🤣🤣🤣I like story time!!!!

Well you talked about the diversity in Argentina, I'm from the Argentinian Patagonia province of Chubut where you can find several cities like Puerto Madryn, Gaiman, Trevelin, etc. founded by welsh settlers where they still keep their traditions (they still speak welsh and you can have the traditional tea and taste the most delicious welsh cakes) in the south of the same province you can find South African descendants who started settling in the cities of Comodoro Rivadavia and Sarmiento in 1902 after the Second Boer War. Congratulations on your videos!
Thank You Sergio for your feedback and very detailed and informative comment! I have been to Puerto Madrin in 2017, working on the cruise ship, to be honest. But unfortunately never had enough time to explore those beautiful places and learn about its people 🙏

As a non native English speaker I’m still struggling with some pronunciation, like for example bad and bed 🙊
Have you seen the marches, people on the streets, the unemployed !!?? Don’t come as a traveller and not give a true picture The peso has been devalued by 50% plus the ongoing inflation It’s very bad for many people !!’
I appreciate your comment. And I agree that I didn’t know the whole picture. And despite all those symptoms of the economy “illness” that Argentina had throughout the years (the one that you mentioned), I feel like the country is moving in the right direction! And with the time there is a chance for beautiful Argentina again to become one of the world strongest economy’s. And for the last 2,5 years money inflation happened in ALL the world (Argentina is not unique here), which I noticed not only as a travel but also as a citizen of Ukraine. You should see what’s happening with our economy and how it’s surviving. Big time thanks to mr putin for being one of the reasons of the world economy crisis ✌️
@@Alexstenko it’s sad for Ukraine and many others including people of Russia and the rest of the world Argentina problem issues have largely been self inflicted not by the systems but by the people operating those systems I doubt the present political leaders will get enough time to implement changes both social and regarding the infrastructure I understand people making travel blogs for travelers and that is needed Sometimes I do get annoyed at ignoring the local country and the effects on the people. $80 for a pan??? No wonder the one at your AirBNB was so small 😂
Hi, did I say 80? No it was $25
The problem is that there's nothing to do in these parts of the city (Las Lomas, Villa Morra, etc) other than eat, drink, shop and go to the gym. If you like culture, architecture and being able to go for a stroll and see interesting shit, lively squares, green spaces with people etc, these neighbourhoods have very little to offer. They offer a certain level of comfort, safety and convience but they lack charm. They also have construction everywhere, so there's noise, dust and sand all over the place.
Hi! Thank you for your comment! It’s absolutely true, and I agree with with each and every word. However if safety is one of your priorities then those parts of the city is an option.
@@Alexstenko thanks. You do feel quite safe and you're also quite distant from the absurd levels of poverty that exist in Paraguay, which I suppose are positives
Help - Alex I really enjoy your videos, but the video is black screen unless I have selected playback quality option. I do not pick any of the playback options, I just need to keep it open in the bottom right corner of youtube screen. Very weird. Hoping you know why.
Thank you for the heads up. I don’t know why this is happening✌️
@@Alexstenko luckily only two of the videos. Enjoy your detailed and even handed approach to reporting country information . A huge value to folks contemplating a move or visit to foreign country
Hi! I'm from Argentina, and I'm learining English.. I could understand you without subgtitles! Yay! Interesting video, happy stay in myn country, and good luck!
Hi, nice to meet you! Argentina is very friendly and welcoming 🙏 Thank you for your feedback and good luck with your English 👍
Sorry to hear about the Airbnb! How have you found San Telmo as a place to live in? People say it's sketchy at night.
Hi, as of now I think Airbnb in San Telmo was the best one. The area was always busy and full of life. I did not walk around in the middle of the night that much. But once I went towards Boca, to the Parque Lezama at night and back and it was fine. However I would agree that’s it’s not the safest area in CABA. ✌️
The "dampness" smell would totally gross me out.
I feel you! That’s the main reason I’m moving out!
No recomiendo a ningún extranjero a cruzar la Avenida General Paz.
¡Entiendo! ¡Gracias por el consejo!
Bro I want to ask what is processs of bank account opening in Argentina or fd rates showing in official bank sites r real or not
Hi, from what I understand to open a local bank account you have to be a resident. I’m not a resident yet unfortunately, so I don’t have an account here. But after I open one, I’ll shoot a video ✌️
good video, very informative! Argentina is a good country, over time you discover how to manage yourself better, where they sell the cheapest things and the places to live👍
So true! It’s only a matter of time! Thank you for your feedback 🙏I really appreciate this!
Probably true - if - you are very fluent in Spanish ! English speaking gringos like me with poor Spanish skills are very likely to often get exploited I'm afraid ? And I'm poor looking for and needing cheap. > Like in the Philippines & English speaking perhaps ? Many report living quite well there on $1000/mo. !
For $100 US dollars is 120,000.00 not $1,200.00
My bad, you are right 👌thank you!
Argentina in this moment is much more expensive than years before for travelers with foreign currency like dollar or euro
@@Policeoftruth90 yep. Buenos Aires isn't cheap. The two things that are significantly cheaper than, say, Spain are Airbnbs and Uber rides. Going out costs probably about the same.
Buenos Ayres ❤
