Goodman heat Pump maintenance (older unit)
Hey. I just installed a smart thermostat and on the furnace there was a wire in the c slot but I installed a c wire adapter to the furnace. I did not put the original wire back in the slot. Should both wires be in the c slot? Thanks
@PrinceDawan that other wire is the common for the outdoor ac and should be hooked up. The wires going to the thermostat may have a spare and if you pick one and hook it up at the c spot at the furnace and thermostat then you won't need the adapter
Did you check the anode rod?
@satyachandraprasad nah it was too close to the roof to even pull it out
Thank you for explaining the uf number too
So could this be a reason I have so much condensation dripping out of my air handler filling the pan and not draining?
@Madisonsemien9857 it's probably 100% the reason. And if theirs any air leaks on the return side of the system it will do the same thing
Can we spray water from outside without turning off the power?
Yeah you can, just turn the ac off from the thermostat.
Anyone use dawn soap for first time?? Heard about it just curious
It works. It won't remove the stains but it will get the job done
This thing only works on 4G phones. Know that.
FINALLY! A professional explaining the removal and installation of the cage, can’t find any videos on this so thank you very much!
hey there! i really appreciate this video. right amount of content and help to do the job right. i should have watched it before i started but only did a couple short term flushes to see what can of mess i got and it's a pretty bad one. 5 2-3 minute flushes and dirt brown nasty every run. going to shut off breaker and do some swishing! thanks again!
Good info.
Thanks I knew there was a better option then running an external power to the thermostat
Very descriptive, love it man!
Thank you G! Cleaned mine and am having a hella of a time putting the cage back on... Felt like you were talking to me when you said "Don't be the person who calls to have it put back together"... THANK YOU!!! SO HELPFUL!!
Great work!
Hi could you please clarify where the two wires from the switch go? Thanks
If you want to turn the entire system off so you k ow theirs a issue immediately, hook one of the float wired to the two skinny red thermostat wires and the other float wire to the red wire/ or screw connector to the system. If you want to turn off just the outside unit and just have the fan run to help dry out the system. Do the same but connect them to the yellow wires instead.
The float is like a light switch it just breaks the connection so one goes to the communication/ signal wire and the other wire goes to the system to create a loop
@@theycallmeG90 Thanks
Thats some nasty bio film. Wonder what coulda caused that in there?
It's the aluminum coils, uv lights are recommended to prevent this.
Spread that on a cracker and you got dinner!
So because the house that I'm in got all kinds of fucked up by the idiot landlords people I have to go out there and do that a couple of times a month
Damn that's a pain
The other HVAC video says not to do this. You’re supposed to blow compressed air in to unclog the drain. Sucking can make the clog tighter. 🤷♂️
Thats rare. I've been in the hvac game for a little over 10 years, and i can count on one hand how many times that's happened. copper coils that rust can clog drains pretty bad. But Aluminum coils just create bio film. Blowing air through the drain can separate unglued connections and become a bad day.
Man i said nasty and then you did as well lmfaoo
I didn't know HVAC was an intestinal condition
Why the fuck is the miscellaneous tube puking?
What in tarnation is that
Or another way to put it... WADAF#$% IS THAT!
The stuff that forms when people don't have uv lights with aluminum coils lol
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Happy to help
There goes the ceiling
Good job G
Big money
Good job buddy
Nice work! Thanks for the good advice.
good show chap, i am going to attempt soon.
I came across this video today. I have a Goodman outside ac unit. I have spent about 5 hours, still can’t align the holes to screws. I would appreciate any tips. Thank you.
they do that some times and theirs some wiggle room. when i cant get them to align you can give the top a twist or put a screw in one panel and work your way around
@@theycallmeG90 Thank you so much getting back to me. I was able to put it together finally. Goodman units are the most difficult to put back together.
I cleaned the condenser coil for a freind. Straight ac. Xenon brand or something. Noticed the spec sticker said goodman. And it has the same lid and cage as other goodmans. I thought i was smooth sailing until i found out tbe lid had no slack in the wires. I coukd only lift the lid a few inches in the front hardly none in the back by fan wires if i cant lift the lid enough to get my arm in there i cant pull the wires through. I sprayed the coil inside out all from holding the lid open with one hand. Totally sucked. I was tempted yo just cut the wires and splice it back together. Total pain in the butt. And oh yeah i fought with the cage reassembly and had to beat on it to get it back on. Lol.
I am going thru this pain of trying to put the cage back. Have spent 5 hours. Still couldn’t do it. Any help, plz.
@@345jamshed I couldn't just put everything in one by one and then set the lit on kind of had to get the panels in the best I could , set the lid on loosely and bang the panels with my palm until they were where they need to be then of course the lid needed a whack or two as well. That prolly doesn't help you but that's all I got.
Thank you for responding. I will try that today or tomorrow. Thank you.
@@aaronbrown3573 i just put it back together. Thank you for your assistance.
Good class G
Why do I have to disconnect the capacitor?
Because two of the three fan wires go to it
Looks good what about the corners
Thanks my dude! Made it easy, clear, & to the point. Big help!!
Happy to help
Do you recommend this brand ?
Yeah its a good brand and easy to work on. I'd just recommend getting a 16 or 17 seer. I think you'll like it
Are you in the dc area
Nah at the oceanfront
@@theycallmeG90 thank you for your reply
I tried the lazy man's process and the amount of air rising from the fan shot up from about twenty percent to what I imagine is 85 percent. Once I'm more familiar with my unit I'll apply coil cleaner and get it nice and proper. Thanks for the upload.
You do a great job
Dude thank you 1st time homeowner Local HVAC company wanted to replace my unit Did this on the came exact condenser and my house is cooling way better and the bill dropped a bit Keep up the amazing work
Awesome happy I could help
Ty for showing me this! Saved me from buying a new one! ✌️
Awesome happy to help
What kind of unit model is that
Thank you for telling me how to do this. Yes, I had to laugh when you said those panel cages will make you mad b/c they keep popping out] yes indeed Sir, mine sure made me mad trying to get the panel enclosure back on. That's when I found your post here. Your tip to setup and bend those tabs was spot on, how to remove that top fan, and the tip to photograph the wiring...I had mine back in place in 15 min. and I have never cleaned an a/c unit before. Fantastic job explaining this process on a Goodman A/C. A++ I am subscribing!
unprofessional level
'G' If you had to guess, do you think the premature leaking could have been prevented if anode rod had been replaced by the owners as part of preventative maintenance? Thank you for producing this series of videos.
I thought you should wash it out from the inside
I have cotton wood trees in my area so thats what my problem is The screws will wear our if i do this every year
Thanks a lot! Did it today!
Happy to help
G, Great job, been doing your method for years just seeing the coil clogged with gunk. Make a million a year buddy. Stay well. I am not in heating and a/c business.
You void Goodman's warranty if you use coil cleaners to clean the coils..Look it up...
How would they know?
@@analfloss453 Do a warranty replacement of a coil that's been cleaned with chemical and you shall find out..
You have to really screw up a coil cleaning to void the warranty lol. Just gotta know what you're doing
@@theycallmeG90 Thank you , You are addressing a successful 30+ year "Class A" Air conditioning Refrigeration contractor. Where the Warranty void comes about is most service guys are in way too big of a hurry and don't rinse 100% of the cleaning chemical off the coil. This left behind chemical eats away at the coil over time. Goodman analyses the coil finding this corrosion subsequently refuses the replacement money.....When you install the Machine the manufacture states to only use clear water to clean or their one approved product name that slips my mind at the moment..
