This should’ve been the true ending for the series instead of the ending we got where even though Jack had saved the world and vanquished Aku, Aku still had the last laugh as he took away the one that Jack cared about most. He and Ashi deserved happiness for all they’ve been through.

This song is already amazing but this animatic brings it to life! I love how the sound design brings you into the story- the crackling of the torch, the squaking of the birds- and the characters are so detailed and expressive! They feel like theyve had lives before this tale- and have plenty of happily ever afters after!

Jack had multi opportunities to head to the past over the course of his adventures. But every time he was stopped because there was a possibility that good people would be hurt if he didn't throw away his opportunity and came back to help them. And there was always the thought, "Would it have mattered? If he went back to the past and defeated Aku, the future would be overwritten." But there was a chance it wouldn't have, and if that were the case Jack could not take that chance to allow those innocents to suffer. But this? This confirms it. All the people of the future that Jack met in his travels no longer exist. He could have gone back in time during any of those moments and it ultimately had the same result. In many ways, all that pain and suffering he went through was for nothing. And yet in other ways, it was still worth it. Jack came out his travels strong, as a man of principle and honor. And while the people of the future have ceased to exist, he will continue to carry their stories and their memories with him for the rest of his days.

I love this ending so much better! Cause not only does it take into account of his friends being gone and he reminisces about them but also because the gods give him back Ashi.

Years later after this was uploaded and this is straight up still the canon ending to me. What an excellent display of storytelling and understanding the emotional beats so many people wanted to see. Hope this served your portfolio well :0
