The Sacrifice Animal Reunion Tour, in let's play Moon: Remix RPG Adventure
I spend this entire episode getting the band back together for one last show! They all went their separate ways after the Hero sliced them down after all, but without some jazz, synth, rock, how can I teach these robots the meaning of music?!
That's right, it's time for one last Sacrifice Animals Reunion Tour!

Better late than never I guess. Editing this bugger into a proper Complete series is legit why I haven't been uploading 'complete' videos on my channel. This friggin video took multiple weeks to re-edit and get it ready to upload! WEEKS! That being said, I just couldn't devote constant time to it when I had other ongoing series that needed the time instead. But it's here, and it's signifying th...
Inciting A Mutiny, in let's play Stacking

I've always wanted to incite a mutiny! It's right up there with crash an airship, and yell loudly at a crowd of people! And luckily with the help of video games I can do at least one of these things! Because let's be honest, who can afford a boat ride in this economy?
The kids learn nothing about communication, in let's play Harvestella

They had a perfect build up to teach the group of kids in town an important lesson in communicating and sharing how you feel! And they refused. They dropped the ball, and refused to write it that way. The kids learned absolutely nothing about communication! This isn't a let's play, it's a let's critique! This game sucks!

Listen, I'm the kind of guy that doesn't need to finish a game to feel accomplished. As long as I got my joy out of it, it's a good experience. And if I have to force myself passed that joy into a bad time, well... I remember now why I never finished this game before is all. Not that it'll stop me from finishing the game this time!

Deep in the caves below the Endless Realm we've come to a hard decision, to kill an unborn divinity, or join it in it's rise. Honestly both kind of go against my personal preferences, so no matter what I choose, I'd be changing my religion.

Or well, we will be into we xenomorph into another...
The kids in town are racist and sexist, in let's critique Harvestella

I like seriously did not expect the kids in this game to be like this if I'm being honest. All the kids are racist, and all of them are sexist, and one of them has a parental abuse scenario going on at home. All of that is being played up for laughs. What even is this writing? Who okayed this? This isn't a let's play, it's a let's critique. This game sucks!

Trying to wrap up all this Endless Isle's exploration, and we get closer and closer to putting a feather in our cap over the whole undead ordeal. But sadly we've still got a few mysteries to solve. Like what island is floating so close and above Pwyll, and what lays in the parasitic crystalline cave that was being mined, and who is inhabitant 64.

Casing an old man's house, in let's play Moon: Remix RPG Adventure
when I did this quest I had no idea you could get blood from Rhydder, lol. I went to Penitent Thaw and she made a fake batch
I didn't even think of her, and I'm amazed I didn't! She's probably got an answer to dang near everything in universe if given the chance to answer it that is!
Glad you reconsidered on the crystal goddesses fate, as most people I've watched tend to just kill her because they are not trusting of what kind of effects she'll have on them and/or are diehard supporters of the Union. I have always sided with the crystal goddess simply on principle of playing a very curious, throw caution to the wind, kind of character. But yea gods in this world are very much alien in their world view as compared to mortals. In fact I'd argue there are truly no evil deities in the sense that they are seeking to torture or be cruel just for the sake of being cruel. They simply have a different way of approaching the world and considering things. Paeguth again, is one of the 'kinder' deities, yet that doesn't mean he's a good guy. He's still quite cruel in his methods, but there are obvious tangible benefits to receive from dealing with him, at the cost of some potentially negative downsides (bodily mutation, infertility, pain). The god involved in the endless provided immortality at the cost of the various traumatic experiences accumulated among the endless. I think that's just the simple nature of how gods and magic overall works. In several item descriptions you often read about the downsides/limitations of said items which ultimately relate to cipher. Shielding potions deflect injury and hugs, protection rings can petrify, mana potions can be addictive, etc. The Ferryman is most certainly not a tangible god-entity like with the Crystal Goddess already forming, but instead a collective belief born from shared desire among the endless to have a true death. Especially since its been pointed out before that the endless have no gods (which is why the Union tolerate them). The Crystal Goddess seems quite distinct and separate from the wider belief in this ferryman figure. I believe the loyalty-gates may have been erected some time after the king fled underneath the castle, perhaps during the transition into the endless realm but not when he still ruled.
Honestly that view was partially why I kept second guessing myself about possibly destroying the crystal goddess. I know everyone would usually lean away, but the option is still there. It's got to hold some merit in universe in a sense. Paired with everyone who plays would probably immediately jerk away from the mere prospect of such a pact. I HAD to explore what it was! I'm glad the writing for gods, and well, everything in this game is resonating with others! The devs, writing team, and everyone who worked on this game did such a great job, like you said, even to the item descriptions hinting to a reason the common folk would even turn to the gods in universe! Just *chef's kiss* it's some good stuff! I'm also curious about how that intangibility is handled in universe in a setting with tangible gods. I mean, as of writing this, I've recorded the next episode and have it queued, but the question stands outside of that circumstance. What exactly happens when a large group of people worship a god that doesn't tangibly exist whatsoever? I'm certain the writers for this game have an answer. And that mere thought raises so many more questions about the immediate circumstances after the birth of the endless!
Fun fact the roaming island was added to the game during early access in the halloween update just prior to the last major update (clockwork kingdom) before 1.0. At the time it was accessible from Hallowshire near Castle Hallow. The fact that the Union has built an entire gatebridge attached to an unstable island is rather bizarre, as it's bound to shift again and destroy said bridge eventually. Seems like a waste of not only construction material, but also everyone who purchased a passport for that particular bridge basically gets screwed over since it'll eventually drift off somewhere else that may not require a bridge to get to or is too far for a bridge to be practical. The Crystal Goddess is certainly one of those gods which most tend to destroy just off the principle of all gods are bad. But beyond this surface level thinking, the Crystal Goddess does pose a conflicting problem. While her purpose is meant to serve as a form of salvation for the Endless, it does seem to come at the cost of a loss of self-identity, as all memories are melded together in one. Furthermore, those who don't necessarily wish to be part of it deal with the painful crystal growth and psychic weight bearing down upon them. Furthermore, it is implied the Goddess herself is somewhat enraged (perhaps by the state of the endless - a concentration of all the deep-seated anger the endless under her control and who empowered her, feel). Unlike with TWOAF who was largely impotent, the Crystal Goddess is very much a real and potential power in this land, and it very much seems like she's the kind of entity to want to have All the endless under her influence - saving them from their suffering at the cost of self-autonomy and choice. Perhaps in a land where endless are either prone to wishing to feast upon the living or roleplay death and waste away, you could argue that the endless are at a point where they themselves are incapable of truly making a decision that best benefits their kind. In that way, having something else decide, take over and be in control could be seen as a better deal than the if you wish to go the route that everything else is for naught with the endless. The Crystal Goddess doesn't seem to have inherently malicious intentions but the methods by which it is likely to go can be potentially hazardous. There is a great comparison to be made with paeguth to or even the dead god aenguin in pwyll. Paeguth was all about sacrifice of pain and grotesque bodily transformations in exchange for euphoria, bliss, and never going hungry or dealing with disease. Yet many hallowshire natives were completely fine with paeguth's presence and relied on him for their way of life, as he was providing a service that was essential to that region's prosperity. Aenguin was the tyrant god of pywll who demanded blood sacrifice in exchange for financial prosperity. Up until it became unsustainable and the pwyllians revolted. Is it possible the Crystal Goddess growth and expansion would become unsustainable for her apparent goals of saving the Endless? It is like you said, at what point does she stop? Where is the cut off? She is a body amalgamate of many different minds refracted in one entity. What happens when enough cadavers get taken over? will they impact her in any way? Also yes there was indeed a hidden bridge in the upper levels of the Cadaver Keep (just like the one at rustburg) visible via truth potion/leech of truth.
The fact that the skeleton island where you get a spell to summon skeletons was added for a Halloween update is so thematically fitting, and fuels me to no end! *Spooky scary skeletons intensifies* And honestly interacting with the crystal goddess, and most entities in the game, I try to look at them outside of how my personal world views tend to be. There's meant to be a fourth wall in most media, a means of keeping this story, setting, and all the characters contained to such rules beyond our own. And I was trying to showcase that viewpoint during another bit of rambling. Because honestly a divinity like that is not something I'd personally enjoy. Free will and individuality are important to me, but it's all I've known. Meanwhile, as was discussed, are such things more important than freedom from a curse that's lasted centuries too long as is, and will this divinity simply stop there. Ultimately I doubt I'll get a full blown answer to any of this by the time the game is done. That's part of the fun though. Dread delusion thus far for me has been a journey into the unknown, the wild and surreal, and I'm curious about every single corner, and hesitant with every single step! But I've yet to be truly upset with taking a single one! And I can't say many other games have made me feel that way! Also this frigging land and it's illusions! You'd think it'd become second nature to me by now to know parts of the game are LYING to me!
oh hell yes subscribed for this
Heh! I'm glad to hear that, I hope you enjoy this series!
First Myghar and now The Way of All Flesh, pretty soon you'll be dealing with a guilt to rival even the endless. Ultimately it was a sound decision to kill it. Unfortunate but sound. (even though i always choose to spare them personally after feeling awful the first time i killed them). This all could've been solved if you were just able to tell the flesh farm to talk to no one else but you. And maggotson honestly should've just kept his mouth shut especially since he's working for the one woman who literally is responsible for ultimately convincing the queen to put an end to the crusades. Rhydder and his likeminded allies are going to be searching for any exploitable flaw in Penitent's solution and try and use it as leverage in support of their desire to start the crusades again. Of course, it's clear they stand no chance against penitent directly despite the fact that she's unguarded. Also those flying (sometimes winged) sword wielding undead do have in-game info as to what they are. You can talk to the one in sepulcher and i believe the seneschal also mentions them. Not you bullying the poor npc's in their own keep 🤣 just casually walking circles around them, giving yourself a little house tour, critiquing their architecture and then closing the door on their faces lol.
As I tend to learn with a majority of video games, the amount of problems that could be avoided simply by better communication is astounding, but now I must bear this cross of guilt and shame for myghar and the way of all flesh. All I can say is, welp! But yeah maggotson is way too loose lipped, even for a carcass with lips about to fall off! Also oh gosh, thank you for pointing out that npc! I never talked to them once, and I'm amazed I didn't, they just immediately got categorized into "guard NPC patrolling" in my head, and I never reevaluated that after seeing that there were no other flying NPCs in town! And what can I say, they're kind of weenies, and easily avoided!
The possibility of the endless worshipping the god who was involved in their creation is such an intriguing idea i've never considered! But in this setting where gods deal in contracts and bargains, it makes complete sense! The god that was involved in the immortality spell that made the endless may have knowingly sabotaged the kingdom, knowing they would eventually languish long enough to become desperate for a savior out of shame and rejection of their unnatural existences. Then again, it may be a stretch to assume a god would be that good at planning so far in the future, given how Paeguth (an ancient god) was so utterly naive to trust you as the sole lynchpin holding up his entire plan in hallowshire. The other thing to consider here is the name ferryman seems to be a name born of a cultural shift in the endless, closely related to the population of endless who support the flesh farms and mausoleums. From that perspective it makes sense for endless who are gripped with shame and regret to invent this idea of a "savior" who will deliver them from their sinful existence, and it could serve as a means to sell the idea of mausoleums in the first place. The Mausoleums are places of reprieve from "living" where the endless may "act dead" as they believe they were meant to be. The Ferryman essentially promises the endless some kind of escape. The fact that the endless need life essence to prevent a true death yet the followers of the ferryman wish to be dead brought up an interesting contradiction too. But I think this goes back to the whole idea of the endless only "pretending" or "roleplaying" being dead. In truth they are immortal monsters who yearn for escape, yet because they've been so out of touch with the concept of mortality they also don't know and comprehend what it really means to die. It could be the fear of the unknown in what happens after death that ironically grips the heart of the ferryman's followers (despite having an idea of what the afterlife will be like - nothingness), preventing them from taking that final step in just abstaining from eating flesh all together. They understand what it will be like but don't know what it will feel like I suppose. That or starving oneself may be seen as a sin (suicide) in the eyes of the ferryman and/or is painful for the endless to endure. This also connects to the reason why no god will come to the endless aid as far as most endless are aware, for the endless are so unnaturally immortal they may be reviled as abominations and an afront to the status quo, that men should be perish and die, whilst the gods remain (for as long as they maintain worship). On the other hand, it does beg the question why no god ever stepped up earlier (prior to the god war during the reign of the gods) to offer salvation and benefit from the worship of an immortal population of followers.🤔 41:52 That statue may be the first instance of a statue which doesn't indicate a hidden area
Pfffft, Im glad my ramblings offered a new rabbit hole for you to delve! That being said the ferryman being nothing more than the vain hope of a race racked with guilt and remorse is both fitting and obscenely sad for a setting filled with gods and worship. I think if we pair that guilt and remorse you mentioned with the fact they're pretending to be dead in order to die, it paints them not "starving" themselves in a very understandable light. They feel like they're not allowed to have an easier way out, while endlessly craving an out whatsoever. Of the endless that remain physically that is. Because obviously a good number have had their physical form destroyed in some way. Also thank you for letting me know about the lying statue frigger! It was driving me up a wall! I guess the only thing it hid were my expectations, before promptly tossing them off that cliff it sits!
Ghost in this game are quite interesting (and sad). They are the manifestations of a living beings' trauma and entirely seperate entities from that which bore them. In the case of poor myghar is literally just the recent trauma of the original myghar's final moments before being devoured by a wyrm. Since the ghostly myghar is just a trauma echo his very existence will be forever centered around this exact moment :/. What's even worse, is that as an endless, the original myghar can't even truly die, and is still inside the wyrm that ate them...digested and such. Penitent Thaw is quite an important and impactful figure on the course of Endless society, so she's bound to have some people hate her for flesh farms. Way of All Flesh certainly has traits one could associate with a god, and the fact that he is only able to communicate with living creatures telepathically is quite a difference from other beings. Yet in the context of this game, it is never outright stated if he's a god or not like paeguth, xanarrib, and the death god beyond the initial conversation with it. Yet this isn't the only instance of a unique entity with some traits of the divine in this game as you'll soon find out. The fact that it knows what a brain is and what its purpose could be a result of the clauses defining the concepts of "living flesh" and "human flesh" within the cipher syntax. As cipher magic is just tweaking the language of reality, the knowledge it possesses on its conscious state could simply be it subconsciously drawing upon the foundational spell which bore its existence originally, and as it gained sentience it essentially gained insight into its own makeup. This could also be why it gained sentience in the first place. Perhaps penitent's spell improperly defined how the 'living flesh' should persist and behave OR it could be that the very nature of living things to grow, adapt and evolve cannot be truly prevented. It is simply an inevitability that living things should achieve sentience in this case, especially that which is a substitute for living human flesh. It could also be as you say that it bears some remnants of the memory of the flesh Penitent might have used to even start the process of creating the flesh farm. And if it ever did gain access to cipher magic...combined with how rapidly developing and its desire to achieve omniscience, could end up being a problem for sure.
Oh god! I already felt bad about making the ghost of Myghar relapse into a PTSD spiral, and now I learn it's several times worse than that?! That so much more horrific! But it makes me wonder... If an endless has ever met their own ghost at a later date? And if they're born from a trauma imprint of sorts, was the trauma that bore the ghost in the inn in the town of Sepulcher due to him making a pun and getting his face bashed in because of it? Because if it is, that's the most hilarious ghost twice over now. Anyways, the more I interacted with Penitent Thaw, the more I respected her, that woman is one of the best analytical minds in the entire game I've come across thus far. And if there's more things like the Way of All Flesh, I'm intrigued, giddy, and horrified. Yet all those theories of it's inception and eventual sentience surrounding it could give more credence of divinity since it's now so inherently tied to cipher as you think, giving it similarities akin to divinity who think in cipher as well. That all being said, I doubt I'll get an answer, I'm just aware the sentient meat mass could be a major problem if left unattended, but god am I curious as to how it'd act if unattended. Well I mean, if it was left unattended in it's mental growth, while still being upkept so it didn't collapse in on it's self due to flesh born bacteria. If it properly learned cipher, paired with it's ability to resonate with living flesh, it'd probably easily charm the living into doing it's bidding though, making it have a means of dealing with it's constant upkeep needs. But if we keep going down that rabbit hole, we're going into the setting of a completely separate type of game, now aren't we?
for sum reason, this video is lowkey good
Appreciate the chill review!
Each of the four main islands, in addition to the regional main quest, has a sort of "main sidequest" as well, which determines the fate of that region. In pwyll this was deciding if the kid sacrifices himself to the mushrooms of the god Aenguin to keep the village harvests alive or stop him to let it inevitably dry up. In hallowshire this was deciding to help paeguth reestablish his control over hallowshire or aiding the union in driving out the local cult for good. In the endless realm this will indeed relate to the entombed one. The teleporter isn't in the town proper, but it does happen to be nearby...you'll just have to find it via some good old fashion exploration. Honestly the idea of a race of immortal undead who enjoy plays, roleplaying as different people because they are so bored and detached from the living world is a solid idea. A society based on roleplay, where the leaders are chosen from amongst those who have the most convincing 'personas' and nothing else. As you have learned there are two opposing groups of endless: most endless are ashamed of their nature and their past and prefer to eat the mindless meat and stay in mausoleums to play dead - kind of like a racial atonement for the sin of their unnatural existences. Then you have a select few who are proud of their past as immortal flesh-eating monsters, who hate the mindless meat and dabble in illegal flesh-brokering. They've truly forgotten their humanity. If I recall correctly, there is a reason why living human flesh is preferred over other meat and why the endless don't even eat animal meat. I like how the seneschal asks the player if they have ever seen a god, something which is probably quite rare these days. At this point, the player has most likely interacted/seen 2-3 and possibly even 4 prior to speaking with them, and that's not even counting the dead god under pwyll village or the god skull of the wobbly noggin.
I'm loving my interactions with the endless as a whole. The games take on undeath and immortality is a good spin on it, and is just refreshing in my opinion. I can't remember if it's this episode or not, but I do mention at some point that every endless I talk to, depressing or mad as they seem, they all seem like properly fleshed out characters (pun vaguely intended). That paired with the fact that their lore is deep, but partially untold, and the world building is so solid and... Yeah, the endless realm is a sickly sweet treat that I'm loving. And yeah I didn't even comprehend how actually odd that statement from the Queen's advisor was... It's a mindset from pre world rend most likely since the emberians disliked the wiccans and handled cipher obscenely well, leading to little interactions with gods... Augh, it's rare to get a game that's just written this well!
Gods require worship/prayer to sustain themselves, it's like a food source to them, without it, they weaken and ultimately perish. So while they think in cipher and have great power, it means nothing if they can't build up a dedicated follower base, and to do so they enter into contracts with mortals. Thus they grant mortals some kind of benefit while they themselves get power. The endless likely don't upkeep basic infrastructure and comforts because of how long they've lived, and how ingrained certain beliefs are in their stagnant society. They receive almost no visitors from outside their territory and are incredibly ancient civilization compared to the modern day sky realms. There simply is no drive or desire to engage in these simple comforts anymore. As you progress you will likely uncover more information concerning the history and their past, and the weight which every endless seems to carry. You'll notice there are some distinct differences in ideology between groups of endless (represented as new factions).
I couldn't for the life of me remember whether or not my views of the gods needing prayers to eat/sustain themselves was simply my own, or actually discussed in game. That's kind of what happens when ya take a month or so off from playing sadly. It's like rediscovering the game in a sense at that point, I'm just glad the game I'm rediscovering is written obscenely well! And I've interacted a bit with the endless after this episode and yeah, that's the feeling I've been getting as well, as I kept exploring. A great weight and apathy towards everything, and the few that seek any sort of comfort/pleasure are obscene outliers amongst their peers.
Yea that locked dilapidated manor was where Ezra thornwood would have sent you had you not angered her and 'violently evicted her'. The fact that I know exactly what you're referencing😅16:52 That tower is indeed part of the endless realm (kind of) in that its first accessible by going through the Endless Realm. It is connected to the lower part of the tower which you couldn't get access to when you were in pwyll. 19:10 Did you pick up a compass in pwyll yet? I could have sworn you did. Those tentacle monsters near the castle should be friendly toward you given you are in good standing with the wikkans. Yea for a god who has been around since the Middle Ages (so way before the emberians and the world rend) he is very very trusting that you wont just double cross him once he gives you something a vital as a god-aspect. However, I guess if you were able to get to him in the first place, he assumes you must be really devout and dedicated to his cause. Ironically it's the Fertile One who could ultimately be responsible for getting their 'father' killed by sending the player over to see paeguth had you turned him in. For a lot of people I've watched play this game, the castle situation has always been a deal breaker for helping paeguth. But the deal as stipulated in the contract between the Duke and Paeguth was: A sacrifice of pain in exchange for staving off the plague. However if the Duke is dead/dying he cant be in pain thus voiding the contract. God-contracts seem to be very literal and carefully worded to invite no room for 'technicalities'. 37:57 nonsense! to be reborn anew by the power of Paeguth's love is nothing to balk at! It is a blessed transformation. Cult shilling aside, there is an implied reason for the whole transformation angle of paeguth's interests rooted in his history and lore. He's a god of life who got ptsd and had his world view shattered (his followers were slain in war and that broke his heart + he was nearly killed) so after hiding in a cave and seeing ugly cave critters survive in their environment, he adopted a new ideology focused on survival and enduring at all costs likely as a defense mechanism to protect himself and his followers/children. Now his followers and him are grotesque but they live long, euphoric lives in exchange, whilst pain is used to elucidate the meaning behind their new forms and his message (pain is what led to his transformation in the first place, pain is what must be endured and survived to truly thrive and live. This is why the duke had to bear pain to survive the plague and why the fertile one bears agonies to fight the famine). At least that's my own interpretation of things.
Well I feel bummed I can't make my way into that ruined house, but then again, if the current resident is anything like the person I 'evicted,' I doubt they're good company! And oooo~ My fiance would say you're a person of culture for knowing that reference, I'd say you've been on the internet a bit too long in certain communities! As for the compass, I keep forgetting, I have one more episode after this, that I KNOW I still forget it. But I'm gonna be doing a recording session soon, and I'm gonna make a note of actually grabbing that, so it's definitely happening next recording session. And I didn't even consider those tentacle monsters could be pacified via faction nonsense, but I honestly should have considering goblin based enemies could've in an early version! And honestly Pagueth's naivety being shown to one they consider a follower is a weirdly nice bit, and possibly hinting at that once young God filled with wonder, and bleating like a goat that was lost long ago. That being said, the Duke's castle quest doesn't inherently make me dislike Pagueth, because it was a rock and a hard place scenario, and ultimately Pagueth did help at least stop gap the destruction of the duchy. But as I said in that episode, a more natural progression of such things would be better in the long term in my opinion. Even if everyone were to die, the area could be resettled, as opposed to being stuck in a loop a every leader's lifetime, or just stop gapping one more generation. Pfffft, yeah jokes aside when it comes to Pagueth's wondrous blessings, I was aware of that backstory, but I didn't consider it as deeply as you did. When it's laid out like that, I'd honestly agree that's how things are for them, and in turn their followers. I don't think I even considered that when making the choice during this episode, more so considering the long term as best I could, with the info I had.
xanarrib is an eldritch meatball with spindly legs, just a chill lil' guy. You got to see one of the few instances of what could be considered a boss fight in this game and finally you've discovered the bell tower 😆
Yeah, he honestly is just a cute little guy with a penchant for revenge! Lowkey adorable tbh! And it should be let known that I wander around and do other stuff, but I DO eventually find what I need to do, and where I need to go! Eventually! I sometimes just haveta evict parasitic monsters from my basement first is all!
I wish I got that much of an applause! Lol
If I got that much encouragement for having an existential crisis... I may have stopped having existential crises a heck of a lot quicker than I did!
@@MultiversalMedium haha fact!
The only raid available in this world is the good ol'fashion inquisition 'boots on the ground' kind. Just as effective, but terrible on local morale. Really heavy lore episode this one, but honestly ghlem has got to be one of the most lore heavy characters in the game, and I'm so glad you're the type to read all the books and read all the dialogue on screen. As for the academy's lack of size, I'd say it's more like a prestigious and exclusive traveling research laboratory than something akin to a hogwarts in this universe.
Pffft, at this point I'm certain the inquisition's views of morale is when bureaucratic channels are followed properly! And I'm glad you're enjoying that fact as well. This game is a lot more manageable lore wise than a lot more open world games in general. Which is... Weirdly amazing considering everything it has going on? But it's handled in a properly fleshed out manner that feels natural. Pair that with how it handles books, and the games pacing leads to natural dives into the lore/setting as long as a player is willing to look. As for the size of the academy, that's a better view of it, and probably more akin to how it's meant to be. My view was my assumption along the lines of either, A: That it was probably handled akin to cities/locations in elder scrolls, where they tend to be shrunken down in order to be via Le in a game setting, whereas deeper lore/readings will showcase that the settlement/location in game is scaled down to size. Or B: that this 'academy' may in fact be more of an 'offshoot' of the Central academy that's been sent to the oneiric isles for research relating to them. This may hold a hint of credence due to a majority of the 'staff' have research related to the oneiric isles on their plate. Then again that research may simply be a personal pursuit due to them being stationed there indefinitely as part of a commission/work order of this new cipher charting tech via the inquisition.
Shower is the best place for a beer!
0:48 sir, this is a Wendys
This game is a vibe, and I'm here for it.
with the factions, the goblin faction was hidden (but can still be seen via debug screen) and unfortunately never given any real functionality besides grouping certain enemy types in the same faction (goblins, moths, and frogs). The reward locked behind the door with the Last (bigheaded) Goblin used to make the goblins and moths friendly when you wore it, but that functionality has been removed. The other 3 factions of Hallowshire: Union, Wikkans, and Outlaws, all are functionally the same in what rewards they give with significant faction reputation: - access to faction-only room (which grants access to a skill buff) - makes generic NPCs of these factions friendly and/or allows the player to have them act as followers who help in combat faction rep between these 3 factions can be increased/decreased via selling godlets or killing other faction members (plus completing certain side quests in favor of these factions): - selling godlets to outlaws improves outlaw rep but lowers union and wikkan rep - selling godlets to wikkans improves wikkan rep but lowers union and outlaw rep - selling godlets to union improves union rep but lowers wikkan and outlaw rep - killing outlaws improves union rep and lowers outlaw rep - killing union guards (those outside hallow town) improves wikkan and outlaw rep but lowers union rep - killing wikkans improves union rep but lowers wikkan rep and yea you actually can get all factions to like you enough
Now this is some good info! I took some time in between this episode and the next episode to test it off screen, but not as in depth as you've done. So sorry if the next video doesn't touch on what ya just wrote! This month's videos of dread delusion were recorded a bit more ahead of time than usual in order to work on other odds/ends. So sadly I won't be able to put any of this sort of stuff into practice until November... That being said I love this sort of stuff! It's like sharing info amongst friends all playing the same game, when we meet up! But gosh, I didn't figure out how to get all three of the major factions to like me at once! I may haveta dive a bit deeper to figure it out, but I'm guessing it's probably a bit tied into quest reward rep gain as well. That might mean Im locked out from a full all factions like me playthrough though if true.
Yes it is a bit tricky since you have to balance between factions by either selling godlets, killing NPCs and doing quests. But starting with union rep first is probably the best way since they are the easiest to earn rep and maintain rep with since they give rep for killing all other human factions (outlaws, wikkans, dark stars, rotten onions). To get benefits from a faction you have to have a yellow reputation status (friendly or loved). I believe the point scale is from -20 to 20 with each rep status corresponding to a specific range along this scale. You can see the value of your rep changes by pressing "~" on keyboard. Most recent actions show up in the largest of the 3 windows. Ultimately it isn't that big of deal earning faction rep as the arguably best benefit from them (skill buffs) can be gained via house upgrades/theme changes and later on airship upgrades.
The pragmatist in me knows that I don't need all the factions to like me, and I'm a fool for desiring it. The gamer in me yearns for all their love like a scorned teenager. That being said, since I messed around in game between this and the next episode to kind of test things without looking it up, I think I'll haveta save the "everyone likes me" run for a different playthrough sadly. And like you said, it's not outright something needed since it can be augmented in other ways later on!
Those tiny green skulls are for a late game side quest, they're scattered all over the map. 9:19 This is just my speculation, but I believe the paeguth artifact has some kind of power of taking and giving life. When you find it on the Typhos, the ship is mostly empty and has been circling around a mountain. The captain asserts that he is making good time (apparently not aware that he's been flying in a circle the entire time) and then he and the other crewmate just end up as shriveled corpses after you take the artifact. This could imply that they were being kept alive by the artifact and after it was collected, they had their lifeforce drained. On the other hand, seems berwing wasn't so lucky and just ended up dead instead. 12:53 And as you may have suspected the rustburg/emberian ruin is a main quest location and it is indeed related to the emberian woman you came across in that other emberian ruin in the forest. Also you can buy a compass to show your position on the map in Pwyll Village. 1:05:03 Thornwood Manor is located on the southern tip of Hallowshire in the swamp with the big green shell. There should be a lift, a distance away, across from the entrance to said shell.
Okay, I figured those skulls were... SOMETHING, because Ive even seen them in the few episodes Ive recorded after this one, and I'm starting to notice they're all interactable, just not via any means I have now! And that theory is about on point for how I'm viewing that artifact, sadly, from how far I've gotten beyond this, I don't think there will be a definite answer. That being said, those highly blessed by paeguth have a striking resemblance to that artifact, which is fascinating! Also I can't wait to see what those ruins are like! I kind of loved the dwemer ruins of Morrowind, and although I'm not outright expecting that, some ancient techy ruins in a surreal deteriorated world? Sign me up! The FRIGGIN COMPASS! After my last batch of recording I randomly checked my achievo's and noticed I somehow, in my arrogance, in my blind hubris, missed the god forsaken compass! In the one game that it was such a foolhardy move to do so! In Zelda? It'd be fine. In this? heck no! Augh, I'm making a beeline back to Pwyll next recording session I swear! Thanks for letting me know where to buy it! And as for the manor, it should be making it's debut next episode if I remember right editing wise... Truly...a historic manor if I ever got scammed into buying one.
I'd argue those who got turned into the tentacle creatures around the dungeon and golden typhos airship were willing participants (i.e worshippers who were blessed with a new form) given the area is dedicated to Paeguth. There are a few books in-game which hint/explain Paeguth's motives and history and paint the deity in a more tragic light. The ones around the castle on the other hand were more than likely just warped by the god's influence.
That's a good spin on that honestly. Especially when you take into account the lore books depicting that many of their worshippers do wish for a twisted form of immortality. I'm curious if there's ever a more definitive answer, because if it's a blessing, why is it leaking to others near the duke? That'd hint at the God breaking the deal on their end for their own ends of making such creatures in my opinion. Whereas if it's a curse, or simply an effect of being within pauguth's divine presence, it'd make sense if it was still present at the temple as well. I'm hecka invested to try and find out now! A blessing, a curse, or simply a bit of happenstance due to divine intervention.
@@MultiversalMedium Yea it's really interesting stuff. I don't believe there is anything definitive explaining why exactly the villagers were corrupted other than it simply being implied to be a side effect of paeguth's power/influence. Perhaps the villagers were also Paeguth worshippers who knew about the deal the Duke made with Paeguth? Afterall in-game the union polymath mentions how noble families had ancient ties with gods in the past. One could argue the monstrous form they take now is an 'evolution' of the original purpose behind the spell. It has gone from simply keeping the plague away to now transforming them into creatures who seemingly suffer no ill-effects of the plague. Since the contract is being upheld by the duke's suffering, his weakening lifeforce would mean the duke is at risk of voiding the contract, thus forgoing his end of the deal. In response to this, whether it was the binding contract or Paeguth who actively altered the terms, the result we see is that nearly everyone has been transformed and thus 'saved' from the plague. A twisted form of salvation in a way.
I'm not gonna lie. I love the ambiguity! Leaving players to come to their own conclusions. The game's been showcasing that there are no 'rights' here, just different shades of 'wrongs.' It's nice to see a more modern game leaving it up to the player to actually come to their own conclusions of what should and shouldn't be, demanding they enforce their own moral compass if they wish to follow it! This game is such a lore filled treat, and I'm loving it!
Keep doing your thing love to see new people... You got my vote.
I appreciate the support!
- in the last chamber of the mine you visited before you left, there was a skull which would have opened that gray door. 43:49 - the statues often mark hidden secrets (fake walls); this goes back to what that guy in the house with the red key said about them. 51:31
Now that's good to know! Sorry if I fumble this info in future episodes, but I am gonna try and remember this for sure because obviously that'll lead to more exploration, and more fun all around! Thanks so much for the tip!
Excited to see what you decide with which faction to support. Most youtubers I've seen end up siding with the Union since it's the more 'conventional' of the three main factions in Hallowshire, but you seem to be paying attention to the more nuance details showing the flaws/problems with the Union. This'll of course become more prevalent as you explore Hallowshire.
It's definitely starting to feel like a series of grays at this point, and now I just need to see how these factions paint the pictures of the futures they envision honestly. I'm really excited to see the places this game goes with it's story telling!
just came from that reddit post(about giving advice, am not the person who post that, just a another random guy thought about watching some videos :D)
Oh wow, thanks for giving my channel a view then! I really appreciate it!
Such a sick game.
It really is. I'm gonna have sludge life withdrawals once I'm done with the series.
I'ma be real, I clicked off a Penguinz0 video to watch this lol
I'll take this compliment and cherish it like that time gamercat defended me in an online forum yo!
great vid tbh, keep it up and you'll grow so much :D
Thanks! I appreciate the encouragement, I'll keep doing my best!
Super chill vibes, glad this hit my recommended page.
Glad you enjoyed it. This game is a weird treat that kept on giving in my book.
Hello! The easy way to beat this boss is to exit the level after unlocking the boss area as Devon. Then use Tyrus and spam his special attack on both the horse and Margaret. I'm glad you're playing this game!
... I had no clue you could leave stages after starting them without dying, and thus restarting the stage... But obscenely good to know, because yeah, her mechanics are exactly O.P. she's just not balanced for Devon when it asks you to fight her as Devon.
People still play Maken omg. I've only played Maken Shao Demon Sword on ps2 and that version of this fight is just as frustrating
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's felt the utter frustration that this fight is, but omg, how did they not change it for the PS2 version?!
@@MultiversalMedium No idea why! Honestly a lot of fights in the PS2 version are a pain, the president one is just insanely impossible
@@kuriburger That makes me so sad... I recently finished recording this series, and the president fight was single handedly the most fun I've had in this entire game. I was laughing nonstop during it and just genuinely enjoying it. I think I read the PS2 version switch to a third person over the should camera angle. I'm curious if that caused some balancing issues with hit detection or the like. Not that I'd know tbh.
I have never heard of this game but I'm glad I found your video, looks fun, I'm looking forward to the next one. -your 7th subscriber ^_^
I'm glad to have made this video then! I'm hoping to keep my channel filled with similarly lesser known titles as well. Thanks for the sub!
wut
If I had any answers that could explain any of this, I'd give them, but this game honestly left me deeply confused.
