I'm Daniel Fitzpatrick and I don't like to limit myself to any one type of music. I'm a classically trained composer, pianist, and guitarist-but it all began with banjo. Throughout my work I am continually pushing the boundaries of banjo across technique and genre.
Tchaikovsky: March from The Nutcracker | Banjo Solo
Hi, this is my solo banjo arrangement of the March from "The Nutcracker" by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky..., but there's a bonus banjo part! This also may be the toughest Christmas tune I've taken on the banjo as there were so many parts to adapt to the instrument. Regardless, this classical masterpiece was a blast to put together and I hope you enjoy it this holiday season. Let me know what other classical masterpieces are in dire need of banjo-fication in the comments!

Carol of the Bells | Banjo Arrangement in 7/8 time
Переглядів 74212 годин тому
Hey all, this is my version of Carol of the Bells with a few twists! Not only is this arranged for banjo, but I also rewrote the piece to be in a 7/8 time signature. This change provided for some rich and epic rhythms, and was a blast to play. Thanks for listening to this new version of the famous Christmas carol! Beethoven's 5th Symphony | Banjo Performance
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Місяць тому
This is my reinterpretation of Ludwig Van Beethoven's 5th Symphony... on the banjo! This was a tough one to arrange and record as there were so many parts to try to fit onto the banjo, but I'm of course thrilled to share this project with everyone now. Be sure to let me know what other classical masterpieces you would like to hear on the banjo! Subscribe for more original covers and composition...

I had a buddy from KY in the Marines who used to be able to fucking wail on banjo. It was great. I suggested he get an electric banjo and start a hard grass or blue core band
I need an electric banjo lol
Amazing sound 👌😔
Thank you!
Needs more love... FANTASTIC 👏
@@josephtyldesleycomposer Thank you!
Great arrangement! I love the rolls that you added in at 1:00, they suit it perfectly!
Thank you! Wouldn't be a true banjo arrangement without a couple rolls lol
Great performance. I used to play Larry McNeeley's version fro 1977 (Live at McCabe's Tab in the Banjo Newsletter) There is a video of him performing it but the introduction is long and the soubd quality of the banjo is poor. ua-cam.com/video/QI1osssxO_s/v-deo.htmlsi=tQ-Bh48Mt2VtLmmc Well done on producing such an interesting version. I think I'll have to start working on it again. lol.
@imac50 Thank you for the kind words. I have heard his version, it's pretty slick. I went for as much of a note for note transcription in this version, but I do plan on producing a bluegrassified version of Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for next year!
@@fitzpatrickmedia4359 Looking forward to that!
Paddle faster I hear Ludwig Van
Not Ludwig!
Turkish March!!
I've played it on the piano... but yeah it always was missing the twang of the banjo! Lol
You deserve so much more following. My son can't listen to you right now, but I told him about it and we both just admitted the heck out of you and your creative and talent. Thank you so much for sharing with the world.
No worries, and thank you for consistently supporting my music!
As god intended
Really truly has a classical harpsichord feel to it
I suppose it does, someone made a similar statement on my Lacrimosa arrangement. I'll have to try out some Baroque music on the banjo!
Never cared much for the classical stuff, but this is on a different level. When is the album coming out? 🙂🙂
Thank you and right now, I'm working on some original compositions that I plan for release next year! All of the arrangements on this channel are available for streaming btw. Thanks again!
This is sick man
Heck yeah, thank you!
You are showing the world that the five-string banjo truly has no limits.
@@Nevada_Dan Thank you, that is the goal!
That was absolutely fantastic! Thanks for posting this gem.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
If you haven’t done it already I’d really like to hear John Coltrane’s “Giant Steps” on Banjo, though I know that would be a bit of a departure from the classical stuff.
@JonathanDJCureton I'll check it out, I have done some jazz on banjo... earlier this year I recorded an arrangement of Fly Me To The Moon for the banjo. Honestly, it's probably my favorite piece I've arranged so far for the channel.
This was really incredible!
@JonathanDJCureton Thank you, and great to hear from you again!
Fantastic. Great with the chords etc up and down the neck.
@glenseguin572 Thank you! Those fast chords were a pain to get just right lol
Perfect. Exactly what Beethoven would have wanted.

this was pretty awesome!! especially the rolling triplets near the end were very cool sounding! (hope i called them right haha) cheers from Finland!! 🇫🇮
@Nakkiteline Thank you! The full video is up on my channel if you'd like to hear the full arrangement:) and yes those were triplet rolls! (Specifically backward rolls played as triplets)
Great. Plus thanks for not making me feel like a freak because I only anchor my pinky.
@richardcrowson9265 Thank you! Honestly, I think mainly the hardcore scruggs players do both pinky and ring. I have a lot of classical training, and for me, I find that just planting the pinky suffices for the stability needed in high-speed situations while still maintaining a relaxed hand. In classical guitar, there's usually no finger planting lol
Love this version!!!

@cdmccul Beethoven's 5th on banjo will be dropping in two weeks!
Beautiful cover my man!! My son always listens and comments, but he's in a place where he can't right now... so I'll tell you for him. "That was slick!" Really enjoyed it. And my wife is going as a pirate for Halloween next week! Great timing!
Thanks for the kind words! I figured it would be a good one for the season since so many people like to dress up as pirates. I'll be a T-rex this year though... perhaps I'll have to do Jurassic Park on banjo sometime lol. Anyways, I'm glad that you and your son enjoy the content I create. It always means a lot hearing from anyone who enjoys my work!
Awesome job as always!

Huge shoutout to banjo rebel Ryan Lowe for joining my Patreon page, thank you for your support!
I love the drums you added behind this piece. This is one of my favorite fiddle tunes, and I loved what you did with it as a banjo piece!! - Another thought could be video game music. I particularly love the skyrim theme.
Glad you enjoyed the drums... they were all recordings I made hitting a cello many different ways. I have been thinking of doing some videogame music soon, Skyrim would work well for certain.
Absolutely sooo fun! Love the reporter at the end ;) I smiled the whole time I was reading the Banjo Chronicle! lol By the way is there another publication coming out soon?
@SarahBiegel Thank you, glad you enjoyed the humor. There'll likely be another edition next year when I do the Maple Leaf Rag!
@@fitzpatrickmedia4359 Yay!! Excited to see it!

@@davidhomrok3897 Thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
I loved it! You added a beautiful new dimension to this classic piece! Have you considered doing a cover from a Disney cartoon, like The Little Mermaid?
@MonicaFitzpatrick-v2i We'll, a disney song will be covered in two weeks... next one is He's a Pirate!
@@fitzpatrickmedia4359Cool! How about a song from a cartoon some time?
