This is a short video of my '20 Tesla Model 3 Performance at Sacramento Raceway. It was the 1st and only run for the night. State of Charge (SoC) was ~93% and the temperature that night was mid-high 60 degrees. Enjoy!

Just making fun of a recent incident taking the Tesla our for a drive. In the grand scope of things, it's not a big deal; only a mild bummer. :) We'll see how well Dr Color Chip will work on this type of damage. drcolorchip.com Tesla referral link (1000 miles of FREE Supercharging!): ts.la/derek78029 Music: Happy Stroll by Pilippe da Silva

Should I pay Tesla 1600$ to replace the light so it doesn't leak?
If the car is still under warranty, it shouldn't cost you anything. It's not the light that needs to be replaced to fix a leak in my example. Problem are any gaps between the inner and outer shells of the trunk; they need to be sealed.
@@the.real.Black306 past warranty 🙃Tesla service center is telling my it’s the light I don’t buy it either
Home made ramp nice
What was the cost for the new radiator? Can you explain how did you purge for any air instde the radiator coolant?
Getting the part has its own funny story. Long story short, $125 for an OEM radiator from eBay. Tesla wanted to charge me $300, but I think that's cause I may have offended their "parts professionals." 😁 As for purging the cooling system, Tesla offers the steps to do so. service.tesla.com/docs/Model3/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-500E27A2-6F6A-47FD-A5A4-E13387AF6251.html#GUID-500E27A2-6F6A-47FD-A5A4-E13387AF6251
Is it a bad idea to use water hose to spray debris out from the top? I was planning to start with vacuum and a leaf blower then maybe use a hose.
Doubt water from a hose would do any damage. So I don't think it's a bad idea.
The hero we need but don’t deserve. Thank you!!!
😂
Hi, I have a 2019 M3 dual motor that is similar from your M3 performance, without heat pump. What in your opinion is the reason for this small hole in your radiator? Do you plan to have it repaired (welded)? If so was it successful ? Thanks for your video
Reason for the hole is a rock smacked the radiator just right. I did find a sharp pebble under the bumper after working on the car; I think that's what did it. My plan is to replace the radiator, but I did try soldering the radiator for the heck of it. That's why the spot with the hole is slightly discolored; didn't work. I have a ticket open with Tesla; trying to get a replacement part from them.
Great video, I was about to do this maintenance
Thank you, I have the same problem with my 2023 Model Y, And after two times sent in Tesla Service, it still didn't resolve😢So, what did you use to cover those holes?
Ended up taking it to a Tesla recommended body shop and had it covered under warranty. Had I done the repair myself, I'd use SeamWeld from JB Weld. If you're considering a 3rd visit to Tesla, show them TSB SB-23-10-002. It's for Model 3s, but the root cause covered in the TSB may apply to Ys as well.
which year model did they correct this?
Hopefully the new ‘24 Highland model. 😂
Okay this is what you thought the problem was but took it to tesla and they fixed it. So what was that actual problem?
Technically, Tesla didn't fix it or root cause the issue. They [Tesla] thought it was a problem with a lack of sealant at the C-pillar and quarter glass. Pointed out the trunk issue to the Tesla-recommended body shop and they fixed the trunk. Problem was what I showed in the video; a lack of sealant between the trunk panels.
@@the.real.Black306 okay. Thanks for the reply
What did you seal it up with? Just household silicone caulk? Or something else

I was looking for how to do this and now I know! Thanks!
Awesome video!
Thanks!
Update on my 2021 Y Performance.I had to drop it off again on February 27, 2024 because of rain water in the back bottom hatch! This time they said after looking at an internal corporate memo that the sealant was not probably laid down in a continuous manner where the metal seams meet. They added sealant to the area and retested it and no water intrusion. This is the 5th time! When it rains again we’ll see if they fixed it 😊. Thanks 😊
Good luck!
There are those two little bumpers on the bottom edge of the trunklid, with a spring in them. On our 2019 M3, one of these springs rotten away, I mean it went non-existing,.. Can’t imagine how could it be so damaged from water… I will definately check this out, thank you very much for the demonstration!
You’re welcome!
Dude I really thought it was a chrisfixit video lol
😂
They actually fixed that issue and it’s pretty well known Tesla should take care of that problem for free
Yea, it’s covered under warranty.
I have mold in my trunk too. 😢
That sucks!
Has this effectively worked? Just received a 2nd hand M3P and have the same issue. I haven’t seen any holes, might it be from the back of the tail lights?
Just spotted 2 holes like the one you had, but on the opposite side where water was leaking. Siliconed it, lets hope it works
🤷♂️ Still have it blue-taped. Decided to take it to a body shop. Appointment is next week.
One month passed, got some heavy rain, no signs of any water getting in 🙏🏼
Tesla is so poorly made
I still can't use siri on my watch to open the trunk.
Can you elaborate? What's Siri doing/not doing?
IKEA style
🤣
The reality of Tesla ownership. Poor build design & quality control, being directed to a 3rd party bodyshop (at own expense) or having to DIY flood control. 😢
It has its quirks. FYI, Tesla is covering the 3rd party body shop charges; it's not at my own expense.
@@the.real.Black306 Good to know then 👍
Yes please don’t buy one, we dont want supercharger stations crowded.
Sure, poor build design. Tesla just has the best scores and safest, strongest design for crash tests of any production vehicle ever manufactured.
Constant design flaws. I guess they don’t really believe in quality control.
Poor quality control
After 4 times going to Tesla service I hope they fixed the water leak which was coming from the stop plug in my hatch back on my 2021 Y performance! The service advisor said that it was normal and I told him that’s a dumb statement. With an actual inspection it was found that water was leaking through the rubber grommets where the back lights sit. Hopefully, when it rains again I’ll see if this fix has 😊solved the problem. Subscribed 😊

Again really appreciate this video.
Thanks for the video. Had the SAME thing happen with my 2018 long range tesla model 3. Took it to Tesla and they said they "replaced" the cover seal.. When I checked the new seal that they installed it hadn't been replaced, and there was still 4-6 cups of water in the area where you can store things. Because i was still standing in the parking lot with my car holding the paperwork that said " new water seal rubber whatever was installed" I took It in and showed one of the service tech guys. Long story short it was never replaced like they said they did, very frustrating experience. Crazy to see a 2023 still has the same issue. SMH. I love Tesla but the service experience is horrible.
Great tip, thanks. I had this problem but it has gone away. Possible Tesla fixed it when in service for another issue.
No effing way. They would never fix anything proactively. They don’t even try to fix some of the ones on the service request.
there was a tsb on this issue, SB-23-10-002 October 17, 2023

iT’s wItHiN SpEcs,
@@the.real.Black306I took my 2023 in four times within 1 month of ownership. I was so pissed I gave them a major attitude when they kept on saying “within specs” the fourth time.
silicone my friend.
Considering JB Weld SeamWeld.
Just do them all even if they're not leaking yet so you don't have to take the thing apart again. Won't hurt anything.
👍👍👍

Thank you SO MUCH for this short! It finally started working on my Apple Watch
Glad it helped!
These emergency spare tires ride lower than oem tires. So basically they will adjust to normal height. You're measuring wheel off. Weight of vehicle deflates them down alot
Good point
Where did you buy the aluminum insert for the rim?
The adapter rings I used were from eBay, but I'm sure they can be found from other places like Amazon. Look for 67.1mm (outside diameter or OD) to 64.1mm (Inside diameter or ID) hub centric adapter rings.
@Redding - My bad; deleted your comment by mistake. 😅 His comment was "i use 135/90R17 size from genesis sedan for my performance model 3. exact same height of 26.5"."
Nice
Thanks
Did you post a follow up video on what the installation looks like?
Thought about it. Install didn't go so well though. Ended up using carbon fiber-looking vinyl for the bottom half.
you're using the wrong type of bit. here's something you should see ua-cam.com/video/STF8a-ZkOq4/v-deo.html
Thanks for the info
Were they pre cut? was sad didn't see the end result, but thank you!
Its precut 😊
Weirdly, I have the same green/white jack as you (it's my secondary/backup). I inherited mine from my grandfather... just curious if you know where they're from? No markings on mine anymore.
What is left of the label says Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Love the little P3D decal you placed on the wheel! lol
Thanks! It was from an Abstract Ocean vinyl sticker used to align P3D emblems. Had to do something with the cutouts. :D
Great video- where and what is the hub centric insert? Do you have a link for that?
