I don't talk about it, and I don't philosophise, I just explore Thailand on a bike and in a jeep. Technically average, erring on the side of caution, I don't have anything to prove; I just like to ride and soak up the charm and beauty of this fast-changing country.
Laos Road Trip 2024
What might become an annual trip to Laos, this was our first exploration away from the border and river areas around Savannakhet. Laos is beautiful, peaceful, far from a tough destination, but far from overdeveloped. Loved almost every minute we were here!

All Around the Border Part 1

I rode all around the Thai border earlier this year. Pretty epic ride for me - over 5,000 k.m. in just over two weeks! When I do it again, it will be anti-clockwise...

2013 Cuddle Ride
Переглядів 7911 років тому
The fifth so called Cuddle Ride was officially Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and back. Living in Bangkok means I had to ride the 700 K.M. to get to Chiang Mai, and get home when all the cuddling was over... The roads along the Mekong are in a state; 50% under construction, and the rest in need of repair - not suitable for a sports bike for a while. My lens was covered in dust and the picture quality...

Wow looks stunning mate
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe ...
Land Rover is a wonderful car ♪
very nice.
I've lost the original file - don't remember the artist or song name... sorry.
Name of song? Ps great video, greeting from Australia
sigh.. I want to go to Bangkok
It's not a swimming Pool I hate the person who posted this
Riding or driving? Either way, have fun.
am kpp person bet nerver go b4 lol , but this time i will go there on NOvember .. :)
nice to meet you on youtube :)
pretty much everywhere...
Hi. I am not that familiar with much in the way of training. Getting Simon Pavey over to Thailand was my first foray into that space - went rather well all things considered. He might well be back this year or after Dakar. We had one guy fly up from Oz to participate... make a trip out of it!
Great Simon, Are you aware of any similar courses in Australia. Queensland especially. Cheers
they had fun and found tracks between the trees...
Cheers mate! There is a collection of bungholes on my Nan trip video - truth is I see one every trip!
You should be thankful everyday that you are alive. What an absolute ar$ehole driver… May that be the worst you ever see….
I don't think so. We started that day out of Khun Yuam and ended up back there the night after. We returned to CM through Wat Chan the day after that...
Excellent class. The deep sand is challenging with the heavy bikes.
@suppabasketball - Thanks. I try not to ride downtown as the traffic is awful... but it is a cool city, especially late afternoon.
Good Times, makes me mis BKK. BTW P'name means big sister or big brother incase you werent aware of this.
@808yewtube - Thanks. Believe it or not he waved at me! It happens a lot here; car/truck commits himself to overtaking and ends up in a race across both lanes. The guy on the inside is as much to blame for not easing off, but apparently easing off changes the size of ones manhood... Winter is over here; hot humid and unseasonal rain... might make for some exiting off-road trips over the coming weeks... Ciao
That guy nearly ran you off the road!!! :( Glad ur ok!
@sgpsimonb sounds awesome man.
@UtilityBiscuit - if my LR ever gets sorted there is a good chance we will be in the North in 2011; will drop you a line once you are settled in.
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun. I wouldn't want to drive (I would mess something up) but being a passenger would be pretty cool.
@UtilityBiscuit - More of a big mistake! should never have got stuck in the first place - just lazy followed by bad driving... I just completed a training course (posted a clip about it) I hope I won't make the same mistake again, but hope I do get into some serious mud before the rainy season is over. Cheers.
looks like quite an adventure.
Man. I would love to make this ride with you guys. However, I run an IT business here in Houston and I have to stay connected where ever I go. I doubt I would have a very good connection in the mountains ;) Nevertheless, maybe some day I could take this awesome ride with you. Thanks!
@sgpsimonb Thats not too bad, but the most I will have to spend on on a bike is about $3000... maybe. I may have to stay away from the beemers then :(
@UtilityBiscuit - I got my thumper for 380K with only 1,700 km on the clock! Lots of good deals around if you are patient.
@texasadventureriding - all you need to do is book a flight! lots of sources of bikes and guides, and just a bunch of places to ride that are spectacular. The crew that flew out in Feb this year are back at it again next Feb; this time 5 not three, but we will ride from Nan into Laos for 7 days of off-road in the northern mountains close to the Chinese border. Needless to say, they are renting 250 enduro bikes again and we will have a guide as I only speak Thai, not Laotian! Cheers...
Nice. I would like to do some riding in your Country.
@sgpsimonb I could never go for a 1200 I am too short. I would probably just go for a 650GS thumper. But I really will not have anywhere near 780 grand for a bike.
@UtilityBiscuit @UtilityBiscuit - I've seen 2006 1200GS or GSA for sale at 780K to 850K Baht. That is about 250K off the retail price.
@sgpsimonb Im not sure what kind of bike I wold be getting. First we would have to figure out a place to live, so I will have to find out how much a small house would cost on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. What would be a rough approximation on the price of a used GS.
@UtilityBiscuit - You're welcome... drop me a line when you are in town... What bike are you getting? There is an active market in second hand GS here. People are upgrading to the 2010 and 30 celebration models and selling off their older ones...
@oceandept - Thanks! I add on a regular basis as I travel around Thailand searching out new cool places to ride.
Man, your videos make me so excited to get back there. Nice riding. And everything is still looking good for us to be there in mid February. Thanks for all your help.
nice vdo :]
@UtilityBiscuit - I got grief about it! Anyhow...
@UtilityBiscuit - I am on a Cat O non-immigrant visa. Come courtesy of being married to a Thai like you. I apply for mine outside of Thailand where it can be a frustrating experience. I am opening a new company and will get a new visa that allows me to work as part of the process... Cheers.
@sgpsimonb Thats awesome man. If you dont mind me asking, what kind of visa are you on? After we get my wife's Thai citizenship settled I have to figure out how I am going to be able to live there. P.S. great video too, I love the scenery and the mountain roads but I hate those drivers. Ride safe. man.
@UtilityBiscuit - In total I've been here for 11 years since 1991. I spent 8 years in Singapore, but worked the region so I was up here every month... We've been back for just over a year now. Cheers.
nice bike... too bad you had to cut that scene out.
oh, the memories. I had to do a couple of these while I was there. Except I didnt get to rid. I had to take a tour van packed full of people that all wanted to stop and see all the hill tribes as if they are some kind of sideshow attraction. So how long have you been in Thailand.
awesome motion and fucking driver in last vdo ride safe!
@Ihmehiippari756 - heartbroken you did not watch to the end where the credits lay it all out for you! I sure did use the ContourHD - I am pretty happy with it and will most likely get a second one for simultaneous forward/backward filming... Glad you like the vid - I had a blast riding those trails.
@svengalie In that heat! Who has the energy? They do stare you down, but will move and take the horns with 'em... Cheers.
@H6N9 Weekend Players - I'll be there for you (with its intro cut off to fit the video).
