Such a great breakdown!
YOU SAVED ME YOURE MAGNIFIC, THANK YOUU, GHOST!!!
For clarity for people watching this later - if I understand correctly, WoL goes Invulnerable /in response/ to the Monk using the LB3. It wasn't just unlucky timing. I think you're supposed to only use LBs when WoL is stuck mid-cast so that he can't invuln it.
Concerning the dolls... I walked into our FC house about a year ago and those two frights were sitting on the floor next to our loporrit mender/vendors. So I turned them round to face the wall. The matter was never discussed subsequently.
Just completed first time through Dun Scaith and I had no idea what was going on! I knew I could come here for a complete education. Thank you so much!
I did not expect Lakshmi to be so bad ass. It seems to me almost on par with the Ascian Prime.
Thanks for the guide~
Hey, thanks. These guides are great. Some of us need all the details to navigate the mechanics :p
Hello! I’m re-studying this guide as I start farming the Copied factory - thanks again !
Love your guide. Thank you for explaining everything!
The names of stuff in this expac. 'Hey anyone want to run xhjk er...wuihnd fk it. never mind.' >.<
Yes, I always come back to these guides. By seeing the entire fight here, gives a sense of time between mechanics, as well as the ability to slow the video, and see the small details in these videos that may be missed. Other assorted dungeon videos that may only show the boss mechanics on a "boss spell cast" basis (fast paced videos, skipping between time).
I know this guide was a year ago but you did something I wish more people would do with their guides for Dungeons and Trials. You pause at important parts to emphasize important mechanics to look out for. It makes the video a bit longer, but for someone like myself who has a hard time grasping mechanics I feel it helps immensely.
At 47:20, I learned on reddit that you only need to analyze 2 things: (1) the direction your flight unit is facing [left or right] and (2) which hand is holding the sword [left or right]. This helps determine if the overall safe zone in inside of the red triangle tethers or in the rear of your flight unit. MECHANIC OPTION 1 (CENTER TRIANGLE ZONE IS SAFE WHEN MATCHING) - If you notice your flight unit is holding the sword on the left/right and the direction it is turning matches, you go into the triangle zone in the center (the perimeter is marked by the red lines tethered to each alliance flight unit). So for example, if it's holding the sword on the right and it's turning right, go into the triangle zone. MECHANIC OPTION 2 (REAR ZONE OF YOUR FLIGHT UNIT IS SAFE WHEN OPPOSITE; but there's another step) - if you notice your flight unit is turning left but it's sword is on the right hand, you need to stay in the rear zone to be safe (and vice versa). On top of mechanic option 2, once you are in the rear, you also need to stand on the read side that is opposite of the sword. So if he's turning left but holding a right sword, you need to be on the left side of the rear safe zone.
These guides are the best! This is the only time I've watched one for Paradigm's Breach that didn't seem terrifying. Thanks!
The second area is where two people died.. i was freaking out as a new whm, but i totally understand now that you explained the debuffs
Thank you for this, I really struggle with mechanics so when I see them played out and explained I learn alot better and can go into the raid with confidence.
Huge this guide was very informative! Thank you for making this. You go into so much detail and it is easy to learn
Love your videos; the pacing is just perfect for me to get a good understanding of the mechanics. Thank you so much!
Thanks again for an excellent guide - I’m doing this dungeon later today and I wanted to preview the mechanics. You’re right - I am not a raider so I am not familiar with the moves- and this helps a lot! Thanks again!
I'm hesitant to comment on instances in case I trigger a minor firestorm by having an opinion, but I quite enjoyed running this. I'm watching the guide for entertainment and the possibility that you'll google something hysterically funny.
@@TheGameKat i think i did google something in this one xD
or maybe it was the previous one where i needed to know the rotation of the sun and moon for color purposes. it's truly all a blur. 😅
@@ghostguideffxiv :) It's honestly very affirming to watch a content creator who completely understands the "need to know. NOW!" phenomenon.
Poggers!
spooky ghost made the video too scary to watch
👻
It was very helpful. Thank you for putting this out.
Good stuff, got me through this dungeon as well. Many thanks
Not throwing any hate to the creator of this video obviously, but who actually needs a guide for a solo instance? this isn't that hard if you just read your 4 tooltips
there's been conversation in the ffxiv community about the increase in difficulty in Dawntrail fights so this video was made with those people in mind. there may be many reasons why people need help with solo instances: - someone might have a hard time with reading comprehension (dyslexia, comprehension deficit, language disorder, etc) so having someone explain out loud what the tooltips say can be helpful. - some people might get overstimulated with all the visual effects in the fight and need someone to point out what specific tells to look out for in certain mechs. - some people might have a hard time seeing different colors and so having someone point out out the different shapes in conjunction to the colors can be helpful so they know what to expect. - some people might just want to get through MSQ so they're happy being carried through dungeons/trials while accepting they don't know how to fight, but then can't manage the solo instances by themselves so they need a bit of help knowing what buttons to hit so yeah, it might not be hard for you to read the 4 tooltips, but for some people, for their own reasons, those 4 tooltips might be what's hard for them. everyone is different and there's no way to really know what's up until you ask them, so thank you for asking. fun fact: did you know that the earliest typewriters were created for people with visual impairments? and then of course eventually those typewriters inspired the creation of electronic keyboards. sometimes people make things to help specific people and eventually other people can find use for the thing too.
I needed this tutorial, desperately. I wish this had been around when I was going through the MSQ. I read the tooltips but I guess I just missed that one of the moves was AOE. I didn't understand that the tell about resolve was telling you that the Limit Break gauge was filling. I thought it was telling you to use the combo that ends with healing. I don't have any diagnosed learning disabilities but I just think differently about things than your average person. It hasn't really effected me in my day to day life but I STRUGGLE with trying to understand how games try to communicate mechanics. I frequently look at guides and think "I would never think of that the way they wanted me to." I had to put this fight on easy because I was just not understanding what they wanted me to do. This is not a complaint about the difficulty spike in Dawntrail. I, personally, am happy about the change. I find that I'm doing more daily roulettes because the dungeons and trials are so fun. I've even done the raids more than once a week because I wanted to go through again after looking at some guides and work on them. Especially the Honey B. Lovely boss. I know she's the one that gets the most complaints but I think she's the most fun.
i agree its literally 1 melee combo 1 AOE combo 1 ranged attack 1 heal/mit its really sad people cant figure that out first time around especially being this far into the game lol
@@ProfessorBuckz objectively, i'm kinda curious what people gain by making comments pointing out how sad it is that people can't accomplish things at the same pace as others. what value do you get? is it just to make conversation? to me, it is sad knowing people are struggling, but that's why i choose to do something about it to help others get the support they need to catch up with others. is it an ego thing? people say things to make themselves feel better than others? or is it just a social connection thing where you wanna find people who agree with your opinions cuz it feels good to connect with others regardless of the content?
thinking about it more, i wonder if this is a situation where people look at guides for higher end content, like Savage or Ultimates, and they see comments from other players who tell them if they need a guide then they must be horrible at the game. and then those players end up going to "easier" content and that behavior trickles down because that's the way they were treated from players who were better than them. kinda reminds me of how kids who had bad parents end up turning into bad parents because that's all they knew and then their kids end up turning into bad parents too. it's very difficult to break generational trauma, yeah.
Your guides are getting me through the dungeons. Thank you
These play as X fights are very neat and I hope they keep doing them.
your vid appeared on recommendations- but I see lalafell, I hit like and a laliho! also I like the style of guide and explanations, great work!
I hate these play as someone else ‘quests’. I do, however, love this type of explanatory video where it is paused to show where to go. Thank you
I was hoping the "In this battle you will play as X" would be retired for Dawntrail. Apart from the oddity of, for example, suddenly being covered in fur, I don't understand the philosophy. Like we're given a massively stripped down kit, so to make the fight challenging we get confronted with poorly-explained mechanics. In fact many of these fights boil down to pulling off cheap tricks.
yeah i was wondering why they keep it in too. in previous expansions, i figured it was to showcase the new jobs and such (RDM, GNB, SGE, VPR, etc). but warrior has been around since ARR so it was odd to me.
The point is to A) Break up the gameplay with a unique piece of gameplay B) Give the devs a chance to create content based on the tools you have (i.e. can’t put a heal check in a solo duty if there is a chance you’re running BLM) C) Giving you as the player a chance to play as one of the other characters in a unique scenario D) Giving the writers tools to express the story in different ways - In the Cold (Level 83 unknown garlean solo instance) made for a stellar use of this, fully selling the plight, fear, and stress of the weak garlean soldiers against the strong, and illustrating more than cutscenes ever could just how feeble they feel - and thus, why they feel the need to conquer before they’re wiped from existence. Why they go to such lengths to gain power. E) It allows for a unique gameplay experience - any time you’re brought into a duty where you pilot another character, you get to enjoy a brand-new kit that is just for that duty F) It allows them to wildly change the tone of the game. I already mentioned In The Cold, but the G-Warrior duty also wildly changes the game. Suddenly you’re basically an Evangelion, you gotta agree -that’s kinda cool! And as for why the kits are stripped down, that obviously is so as to not overwhelm people with 20 buttons all of a sudden. But what is also true, is that every tool they give you, they will give you a moment in the duty where you will need it, so it encourages yoh to try everything out.
@@vbarreiro I see. I absolutely hated In From The Cold. It nearly made me quit the game.
@@TheGameKat And now you know how the Garleans feel, all the time. Little wonder they’re unhappy with their status quo and feel the overwhelming need to change it, eh? I’d say the point of the duty came across brilliantly for you if it was that hard for you.
@@vbarreiro I would loved a solo duty in the Zoraal Ja vs Gulool Ja Ja fight. Zoraal Ja always regenerating to full and Gulool Jaja 3shotting Zoraal or so. Playing either side would be so much fun and a moral dilemma. Trying to kill the own son/father? The whole scene would be so much more intense and memorial. Sadly because of the loud minority the duties are kinda dull now.
its a good guide
Thanks, this actually helped clarify some mechanics I was confused about and didn't see mentioned in other guides.
To those struggling on solo duties, gitgud. That is all
hey man, this type of comment is exactly why people don't feel supported. everyone starts from somewhere and if you want someone to "gitgud" then understand that everyone takes their own time to learn something in order to get better. i'm sure there was a point in time when you struggled to learn something and had to focus up. also i'd like to point out that you posted a comment on a guide video where people who are watching are literally trying to get good by studying the video.
Thanks for doing this! The solo duties have very tight accuracy requirements for dealing with the mechanics ! Please feel free to publish guides for all content in DY- thanks in advance ! I love you for it!
i likely won't be posting the other solo instances anytime soon since i didn't get recordings of them. i thought i'd be able to replay them through New Game+, but it looks like Dawntrail is not available to replay yet. if i manage to get the footage somehow then i'll make a guide for them.
Love your videos keep doing your thing! I’m a subscriber and viewer for sure😀
I love the video! But the wildest thing is “ My allergies are acting up because I’m allergic to my cat “ priceless! I love it!!! 😂😂😂
Yay! A fellow controller player
Absolutely great guide got me through this dungeon with 15 minutes to spare. I had been punted off of the platform numerous times and was getting frustrated. Thanks
1:15 Probably a coincidence, or maybe a Easter Egg from Dragonball Z's "Volcano Explosion" attack by Nappa.
I like to just put these video's on because even though I already know all the fights by the time I look at youtube, I just think you have a good voice for this type of content. Have you thought about trying higher content like EX's or Savages? I have no idea exactly how you play but, I believe everyone can do those content if they really want to ( wether they enjoy it or not is a different matter but yeah)
yep. my higher end content is posted here: www.youtube.com/@ghostguideraidstories
@@ghostguideffxiv Oh, I see. Thank you! I hope you post more, but if you don't that's alright too 😹
Do NOT play this fight on melee. He knows.... he knows we only have a couple of charges of gap closer... I am not 100% sure but I believe Lariat is some sort of Wrestling move. This fight is heavily based on wrestling and also the pokemon based on wrestling has a special move called "Darkest Lariat".
welp i just did a whole research session on wrestling now. and yeah, you're right, "lariat" is a wrestling move that involves charging with an arm held straight out (which is what we see in the fight animation). interestingly, the name "lariat" comes from the spanish word for rope "la reata." often, people on the ranch would call for a "lariat" to wrangle their herd and so the word has a ranch/farm/cowboy history attached. there was some wrestling dude who had a cowboy theme and he was known to do a bunch of these lariat wrestling moves. it's all making sense now.
Hi Ghost Guide! Been so long since we last spoke -- must have been when you did the Q&A -- anyway, what is your favorite boss in the raid tier so far? My money is on the bee girl 💅
your money is on the bee girl as in you think that's my favorite boss?
@@ghostguideffxiv yes.
@@SuperBobthebuilderz no, try again
@@ghostguideffxiv so cruel for not telling me the answer 😭 but… final boss maybe?
@@SuperBobthebuilderz no, try again
also since you commented on the melee squares during the arena breaking part, there are 4 squares at range that never get touched every time. If you're healer/ranged you can just stand there and forget about the mech.
The next fight is one of my least favourite fights i have ever done in this game.... and it was just the normal mode 🙀
