Can I climb a Japanese mountain?
I made a number of mistakes this time in my attempt to climb a Japanese mountain. It has become abundantly clear that I was not built for this kind of forethought and planning. I strongly recommend that you go out there onto the internet and look into this more than me.

Going to a Japanese Festival
Переглядів 14121 годину тому
A few weeks ago it was our local festival which was truly an experience. But it wasn't quite the same as the larger festivals that go on in Japan so this time we're going to Takasaki - the closest city to my village of Nanmoku that has a large scale festival.

Hello all, Please do enjoy my video today which is mostly me complaining or eating a butt load of food. This was one of the videos people wanted to see before I came out here so it was good fun putting it together but I will hold off on ever becoming a food critic.

Another long one this week with a short adventure across the Nagano and then up to Haruna Shrine and Lake Haruna. Wear sun cream out there folks as it is rather warm. Trying to make the most of the weekends that I have while I can before the inevitable truck of life hits me.

Back to shorter videos today - discussing our local festival out here in the Japanese countryside. In a village with an ever declining population it is not known for how long this tradition will last. And while people return to the village to celebrate this festival few still live here to maintain its memory once the reason to return is lost.

A bit of a long one today folks as there was so much that happened in my first week in Japan - so there's a lot to tell. This doesn't even cover half of it. Please do give it a watch; the next one will probably be more specific and a lot shorter!

Pre Departure Orientation was this week so I figured I would make a video about that - it was a long day driving eight hours but felt well-worth the time. And while climbing a cliff felt dangerous it was also something I'm sure I will look back on fondly - not much else I can do as a ghost.

As it turns out as I was rendering the video I discovered some more information about my potential placement through the official youtube channel of the placement village. As you can see, 80% of Japan can be said to be forest or mountainous. When you get on the train, you will notice that there are so many tunnels. As an aside, Shinto in Japan is a religion that worships nature as a god. Also, as mentioned in the video, the temple and the grave are often integrated.

Welcome to Japan! You came out at the JET Programme, didn't you? It seems that you are often assigned to rural areas, but I think that rural areas are places where you can feel the real Japan. It's not Tokyo. I know there are many difficult things, but please do your best. I'm rooting for you.

Enjoy your stay in Japan. You will come to hate Jp summer heat with a passion. What city will you be stationed? 3:39 I am always confused about the ped lights. If you have a ped lights, you need to stop for the green. However, there are some streets and I will take your example from this timestamp. From where you are standing, there is a ped light. However, if you are on the other side of the street (just place yourself to the right of you) still facing the same direction of where you are going now. There will be no ped light. I come to the conclusion that, you can cross when it is safe, but since you are stand on the side with the light, you need to wait. 4:38 Ah, perfect example of what I was trying to explain. This 4:38 shot, straight ahead you see 2 green ped lights on either side of the street. The one of the right, on certain street will not have a ped light, but the left side will. 5:13 That is the Sompo Japan Building.

In the uk we don’t have traffic lights at what we call zebra crossings which is where vehicles must stop for pedestrians whereas in Japan it seems it’s combined with traffic lights. Also it has a timer on the traffic lights, we don’t have those in the uk.
