Rosedale coke ovens Johnstown Pennsylvania
Out of love and respect for everyone on Section 8 and HUD, please don't catharize all of us for being on properties in bad ways, as many of us who are renting on properties are truly trying to get our lives together. In the case of Jonestown with all the floods and loss of jobs many just gave up and walked away.
I am now 61 years old and I've been through the area off and on since I biked from Pittsburgh to Baltimore in 1981, since that time I've noticed that when the railroads and jobs that paid well left that what replaced the areas along them was drugs, alcohol, marijuana and violence.
You must understand that Johnstown between Stoney Creek River, Little Conemaugh River and the Conemaugh River has taken a major blow with all the floods and the loss of jobs over the years leaving the Region deeply depressed financially. It's hard to rebuild with no money coming in adding Johnstown has become a drug haven as even transit operators are telling would be riders of trails not to stay in Johnstown overnight do to the crime activity.
Here's a different view on South Fork Dam that was built to be used as part of the PA Canals Western Division as it was built along the Allegheny Portage Railroad between Johnstown and Hollidaysburg PA as Plane 10 to 6 is on the eastern side as Planes 5 to 1 took APRR down to Johnstown that includes the Staple Bend Tunnel. ua-cam.com/video/TNrr-WIRQQI/v-deo.html
In its hay day both the B&O RR operated between Rockwood PA up to DuBois and Clearfield as B&O operated along PA 403. PRR/ WPRR and PA Canal including the Ghost Town Trail and Cambria & Indiana RR used the New and current rights-of-way for the PA Canals Western Divisions.
Salvation Army in Johnstown is now from last I heard was operating a shelter, but Shelter Staff were or still unfriendly to out of Johnstown Residents. With Westmoreland Transit Route 11 connections to Cambria City/Rural Routes to reach connections to AMTRAN in Altoona at Logan Valley Mall makes it hard to connect to the routes to make proper connections. Adding with the NJ Transit and PA working to reinstate the Scranton to New York, NY Passenger Trains on the Erie Lackawanna Short Cut also has a returned AMTRAK trains planned to operate between NY, NY to Pittsburgh PA. All 4 7 days a week trains are to be operated by NJ Transit and AMTRAK.
Jason with the expected trails to be built between Pittsburg now Pittsburgh & Erie PA they are to use the PA Canal and WPRR/ PRR rights-of-ways to Harrisburg PA and by doing so they will need the bike shop. Pennsylvania Canals Western Division that was filled in between PNC Park, AMTRAK/Greyhound here in Pittsburgh PA clearly has it also ending at Johnstown at Plane 1 location of Bethlehem Steel as we who know history has Water Street being part of the Plane 1 to Plane 6 including the Staple Bend Tunnel to get up to crossing of U.S. 22 to reach Plane 10 at Hollidaysburg PA.
No Israel Flag. Based.
I was born here in 1948 and left when I was 20. It is a sad and depressing town.

Nice
The incline plane doesn't run anymore. They need parts that are no longer being made, so its shut down.

I'm old - 77. I've been going back and forth through Pennsylvania for over 70 years. The roads have always been a joke. Half are under construction; the other half need to be. I live here, now, but the roads are still atrocious. The Interstates are full of holes too. PA never seems to have mastered the concept of building shoulders along state highways - you drift over the sideline, you're gonna be upside down. I would think that bribing politicians could be expedited, to help speed highway work. I-70 coming into the state south of Breezewood was "under construction" for the longest time. It was limited to one lane. It was a mountain, so trucks had everything backed up pretty bad. Busiest "construction" I saw was two guys leaning against a pick-up truck, smoking a cigarette. That went on for months. And we pay an extra 50 cent / gallon gas tax for better roads, here. Sorry to go off topic, here, Jason; but you mentioned some displeasure about work being done in the video.
Love it 😍😍😍😍😍
Robert stack had a voice that would put me to slepp.
Weird to see Buttermilk Falls Indiana during the spring/summer time. I was out there during Winter (don't do that) but I wanted to capture the falls w/o flora. Didn't think there would be so much ICE.
I love that place
