James Blake & Lil Yachty - Bad Cameo ALBUM REVIEW
Saw Canada and thought DRAKE
Drake didnt have a problem when UMG was doing it for him. The album Scorpion proved that.
It sounded like lover by Taylor Swift
Interesting content change, I like it
Got this one in three guesses, my best ever game
I think the previous album skinty fia is a better album for someone who doesn’t know them to get into them.
I think the previous album skinty fia is a better album for someone who doesn’t know them to get into them.
This is a pretty singular record, pretty much entirely built out of samples pulled from stacks of thrift store records. There are some good videos out there about it. Clearing everything was a nightmare and not everything got through, but you can find the more complete version out there. Either way, incredible achievement of human creativity. Love how the whole thing plays as a DJ set. If you want something to listen to for context, start with The Beastie Boys- Paul's Boutique, produced by The Dust Brothers. It's also built mostly out of samples and has been quoted by The Avalanches as a primary influence. In the early days of the group they were doing more of a rap rock thing before they learned all this sampling stuff
Wow! I also got it in the second section too. 😊
you're going to hell whiteboy
infinity on high has been my favorite fob album for as long as ive been a fan. the balance between the rawer and grungier side and the more polished side is the best. tracks like ginasfs, the take over the breaks over, im like a lawyer, and probably the rest of the tracklist were on repeat in my teen years. overall tho, i have a similar ranking. save rock and roll, and american beauty are a bit higher bcs of nostalgia and being the "most modern" fob available when i was getting into them. nice vid!!
You mentioned that the mix is a bit oppressive... the version you're listening to definitely sounds way more compressed than every version I've heard. Could that be your recording setup colouring the sound?
Just listened to this live last weekend and it was too powerful
The artwork for the cover was made by an italian, that Is also the lead Singer of an (of course) italian very cool band named Lantern, if u are curious to check
Which tracks do you prefer the live version? Haven't listened to much of the live versions, I just remember Goodbye because I prefer the female vocals and the track is longer, and Premotion + A Desert of Human for the transition between both.
My favorite live recordings are probably FAR and Because I Hear You. So much emotion
I feel like the overall concept for this one is so abstract compared to the other albums, especially ghost city and twin galaxies. The choruses on the distance and toe stepper are some of the catchiest riffs the band has put out imo. I'd also pay money to get the guitar tone for the solo in Glow.
I’m pretty sure they did make this album using only samples, I think around 3500.
Im a juge fan of delta sleep, im traveling from Guatemala on saturday to see them in orlando, all of their albums are masterpieces imo, this one included, all so unique and made with such passion and talent. Can't wait to experience it love 😭
how was it? i saw them recently and they were incredible live
Just noticed they released a new album by scrolling randomly on Spotify. What a great album. Totally agree with you. Hear you was a great album
Logic has used the n word before in his music, just not a lot.
She named it Short n sweet because of many reasons! One of them is because the album is short. I can totally hear Taylor's influence, but I wouldn't fear Sabrina coming up with something that doesn't have her stamp on it, if you know what I mean. I think the comparison is fair, Sabrina grew up with Taylor's music, so she's an influence. But she's totally her own artist, imo. I like your takes!
I agree that the lyrics fall really short compared to other pop artists currently. I think Sabrina is really a performer! She seems to really enjoy the show of it all. Hopefully someday we'll have a more honest album, but, not every artists has to be unique. Some is just radio content, and that's ok, it is what it is :)
Did you listen to If I can't have love, I want power?? It's a collab with NIN. It's amazing, and if you enjoy Lonely is the muse, you'll love Nightmare - reprise. Your review is refreshing.
I'd love a track by track review of this, if you ever want to experiment with longer films.
This is a masterpiece!!!
So unique album so beautiful a piece of art
I'm really glad that you expressed how the heaviness or lack of a happy conclusion should not take away from the album. When I first listened to it, I was ready to see the online discourse and reviews claim it was too sad and not great for re-listen, citing it as a problem. However, I've been very pleasantly surprised to see people not only embracing the darker nature, but celebrating the honesty and vulnerability. I feel like we're usually conditioned to expect happy endings in media/art, so when something is overall bleak with no let up people consider it bad, but I'm very happy, as you so eloquently described, this does not take away from The Great Impersonator, it actually adds to it. I think it would actually be quite jarring and a disappointment if this album had a final track that was like, "But I'm ok now!" Personally, I've had it on repeat as a Halsey fan and as someone who unfortunately really resonates with some of the themes, but I do see how for most this is probably a one time listen. However, I don't see anything wrong with that, I don't believe that all art is made to be mass consumed or be viable for multiple relistens/watches. Great video!
Love your vids keep them coming
Liked your review, appreciated what you had to say!! The honesty and raw vocals had me sobbing
guessed in section 3. I heard this because my sister played this on Spotify on a Bluetooth speaker.
Is that a JoJo reference?!?!?!?!
Had it at the drums 😂
