Commodore 64 and Amiga Memories
Australia
Приєднався 22 кві 2012
This channel will begin as a "tape loader" archive. Initially for the C64. My aim is to more or less have all the tape loaders from the major publishers and some of the minor ones. A question is why? Well, most of my memories of the C64 has to do with tape games as this is mostly what i had. Often the games had loading screens/instructions and or music that often complimented the game enormously. This was frequently missing from the disk based versions of same game. I think it would be good to have a clean naming convention where searching would be easy and everything is in one place. Playlists of publishers will be created for extra convenience.
Perhaps later on we might do longplay's/walkthrough's of games that are not already done. My priority will be the adventure/graphic text games as often these were way to difficult for me and my pre-teen mind from back in the day. Perhaps a second try after all these years would help! :D

Amiga Floppy Disk Loader Amiga Power Magazine Amiga Power Disk 49 CD MAY 1995
Just could not get the cd to work beyond a brief menu screen... Tried on A500 and A1200... Some of the content is already on the supplied disks of the same issue of mag, though has plenty of other smaller programs only on the CD.

So heartwarming!
Thumbs up if this video brought a smile to your face!

Thanks for spreading joy online!
Sensible Soccer 1944 is a demo above and beyond, man.
Seems like a fun game with human opponents, as most sport games are.
That game Atoms was hiding in my mind, waiting to be recalled. Something about the music together with the popping mechanic was strangely satisfying.
An absolute classic. Brilliant way to show off game dev.
Played that Skidmarks demo so much. One of the first magazines I bought when getting my A1200.
Always surprised more people don't talk about Globdule. Great game.
Not a brilliant game, but always had a soft spot for Cyberpunks. Oddly fun.
Looks like a decent game that i never played. I sold my Amiga in 1994 having last used it in 1993 to buy my first PC. The game looks like it was aiming for a console feel. I could not actually get the game to run on ECS Amiga when i did the video, despite it saying it would work...
Fantastic coverdisk this one.
Ah, Sleepwalker and Body Blows, both games I wanted to enjoy but never really got on with.
Nice floppy Disk.
I had this same cover disk for my Amiga 500 many years ago 😺👍🕹️. All of them were absolutely great, but i liked mostly SATU, because i'm a big fan of the asian puzzle games 😺👍🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
I tried Satu when i made the video but i didnt know how to play it... I really enjoyed the 'menu' on this disk, the music and story book graphics... Later disks had a boring text menu...
First time anybody's done this I think. Congrats!
Yes, i think it is on the C64 anyway. I did a quick check before i started it. I was going to give up half way due to the loading time, though somehow found the courage to continue... :D
@@C64_and_Amiga_Memories You know you can speed up any loading in the emulator with Warp Mode. Doesn't affect the disk access.
@@Emulous79 I think i tried that after i finished it but the warp speed was making everything run faster, by upto 5-6 times, including the disk access. Is there a way to just speed up the disk access without a loader cart? As the cart wouldnt work on games such as this anyhow.
@@C64_and_Amiga_Memories Don't need a loader cart. Just toggle warp mode on when it loads and off when it stops. That's what I do, anyway. A lot of editing and save-states involved, though if I bypass something.
@@Emulous79 Yes, thanks. I know about the warp function and the shortcut key.... Though it speeds everything up, not just the loading. On second thought, i would probably preferred it this way as it is the most authentic experience.... Though this video took me about a week to do, trying to fit it in between everything else.
I think I still have the original tape release of this buried away. Exciting times first loading it up as a kid.
I remember this game, my sister & I became obsessed with it until we finally beat it. Good times :)
I never had this game but i like the setting. I often was intrigued by playing games that it made me visit the library as a kid to read up on things. Who says video games were a total waste of time?? :D
how still made tapes in 1992 ???
This always reminds e of Flash Gordon, the first level of it, I wonder if they copied it from this game
Had this game didn’t have a clue what I was doing, ended up loading it just for the music
Yes, i noticed the music on this title was pretty good. Interesting game, if you could learn to play it. Most of us had copies, so no manual...
The best part is that half the video is just the game loading. Good times!
Thanks. I actually try to emphasize that and never intend to cut that from the video.
@@C64_and_Amiga_Memories It just hits different without any disc drive noises, and is that a 3 minute "fast loader" flashing screen?
@@toxicmule I would say that it is a fast loader of a sort. Lemon64 has info easily found on what tape loader each game has... I like to record the versions of the games that have the loading screens/music etc, though some images are very hard to find, so i just use a re-release, which probably wont have the screen.
@@toxicmule Further, if you have a look at the entry on Lemon64, it displays a loading screen... I just havent been able to find the tape image that would have it. Generally the very early titles and 'late titles' such as games after about 1991 tend to be hard to find respective images of. I have a small library of tapes that i will make an image of, that dont appear anywhere on the web. I have an U2+ cart
@@C64_and_Amiga_Memories Tapes...ok, all my curiosities are answered. =) I just figured it was due to how the video capture was done. Having never done a vidcap, I had no clue. I have only noticed those type of load screens when using a fast load proggie of some type or other. I have never seen this game, and even after all these years I love that the system still brings me new discoveries. Thanks for the info, it has been a joy.
I had the original disc. I am very sorry but every other 8 bit conversion of this game is much better. CPC and ZX Spectrum have a very fine Hostage game. I think that the C64 programmer had no interest or pleasure.
It looks like Die Hard 2.
The putting together makes it extremely unplayable. This waiting scene, unbelievable.
Yes, i thought that exactly. It should have had an option to skip that.
It's one of the better Players' games.
I agree. I was impressed with this one.
This game seems to be one the better graphic Players games.
I've still got this tape. But i don't like the controls.
Oh, it looks like a 1:1 spectrum conversion.
Hey, a title pic with music from Players! I am very impressed.
I got the 93 ocs version to run on my bog stock a500 rev3. only having 512kchip and 512k slow. And the disk swapping was overwhelming. On that low spec it wont play music or sounds. However installing 8mb fast ram dramatically reduces disk swapping I found. At least after you start getting into the game more.
I only ever had an Amiga 512Kb with 512kb expansion back in the day. The only game i had that i played that was even remotely tedious as this was when i got a copy of Leisure suit Larry 5. It had a 'startup' disk that i kept in DF0 and used my external floppy to change over when i went to different screens... It was as this point i was essentially done with the Amiga when i saw a friends intel 386 with a HDD. It just ran 'instantly'. It was a shame that the HDD for the Amiga was so ridiculously expensive for a very long time. For this reason i also much preferred the older games of the Amiga library.
@@C64_and_Amiga_Memories My first amiga I did have the A590 20mb harddrive. But most software didn't permit being installed to it. At least not most early ocs games. And everything Amiga has pretty much always been expensive. I still got my wedge, but sadly the a590 is long dead.
A Double Dragon for a cheap price or a cheap Double Dragon?
Yes, i thought it was quite similar to Double Dragon too...
What a brilliant game with a nice graphic. Rack It was Hewson's low budget label. This game had a full price quality for a low price in buying.
Yes, most Hewson games were of good quality.
I remember that it was in the top ten of the low budget games in Great Britain.
I dont think i even had one game that was the players brand... Here in Australia, not even as a 'copy'...
This game was always too hard for me. Therefore i don't like it so much.
I played it for a minute, and i think i know what you mean. Need to read the instructions...
I've still own it. The Micro Painter was a very good idea to play a game while the whole game is loading. A nice Amidar clone.
Yes, i think most of the 'Players' games had this built into the loader... nice idea, but personally would have preferred a loading screen.
I've still own it. The package has a very nice artwork. The Players logo is well designed.
As a kid i had several Player tapes for my Commodore 64.
This title seemed to be the most poor of the players range...
It had Orion and Slayer as well if i recall.
Yes, it did. I have uploaded them as separate video's. I have virtually all the mega tapes uploaded, bar one i think.
This feels really familiar, I think I had this disk!
Two things I noticed: 1) My air hockey table boots faster than this. 2) Peter sucks at air hockey.
Haha yes. And this game is actually harder than it looks. Sort of hard to control your striker. I think this game would play very well against human opponents.
Mad
I actually have this on physical in a recent pickup. Judging by the 'larger' case, it was not a budget game, but a full price one. In Australia you would have paid $30AUD for it, as opposed to $10 for the firebird/mastertronic type games. I always envied the 1.99 pound advert in the corner of the budget releases. I was of the opinion, that i should have been paying $4AUD as that was the conversion rate... 1 pound equals 2 Australian dollars... We were certainly getting ripped.
Kids had dinner while the stuff was loading. 😅
Childhood memories 🥰
I waited the full 8 minutes
Best game💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯
Stupid
Great game (fix your SID), this dude also made the epic Zamzara
Not played this one in ages. Thanks for the reminder
Wrong soundchip music is corrupted.
Love this tune, takes be back to the good old days of gaming, great upload mate ♥
