Puggy's Toy Trains
Приєднався 30 вер 2021
Years ago I collected toy trains it was a life long dream of mine. Sadly I ended up selling most of my collection. Recently I began to collect again and thought that I would share with anyone interested. Starting with personal favorite Marx and branching out. I plan to replace many of the trains I used to own as well as buy many that my dad had that I grew up with and hopefully many many more.

Wow, those squirrels really did some damage. Best wishes on the new layout. _Steve
Definitely a fan of the 1970 MPC sets- they're very similar to the late postwar trains, and have AAR trucks like the late postwar cars, rather than the weird Symington Wayne style trucks they quickly switched to a year or two later.
now that's cute!
I have both the #8300 Sante Fe and the #8500 Pennsylvannia and I have since installed an #8040-125 undercut wheel with a #246-206 rubber traction tire on both of them. These engines along with the #8502 Sante Fe 2-4-0 steamer will pull 6 MPC 6464 boxcars with plastic trucks and a MPC caboose sedately around a layout with no problems. Thank you for sharing this I really appeciate it and keep the videos coming!!!!
How is the thread for the crane rigged? I'm trying to rebuild the crane car, but can't find any info online.
I have the 11415 set too, but the box is long gone along with the No. 6418-9 elastic band for securing the bridge girder. A Marx mountain scene tunnel was an additional gift piece. I sure would like to see a clear image of the dealer advance catalog pages at the beginning of your video
Well puggy, I guess this was a help to someone. Maybe you?
Simple toy, outstanding quality, and still running like new,75 years later.
You do a very nice presentation. I have a 675, and it runs beautifully. You can't kill the postwar lionel
My 1666 also has to have full power to run like yours does at the begging.
get rid of the music
I keep getting a short after putting the shell back on the motor. Any advice?
this is VIDEO why post a slide show ? STUPID !!!
I have that set, but I put an 1130 AC motor in it.
Is that a hard or easy conversion?
Now it does
Why you cant give this video a thumbs up ,,,it wont let me
My first train set for Christmas in the early 70s was the Santa Fe Cannonball Express!!!!!
Lionel MPC trains are so much fun, thanks for sharing.
Love this set,it's the basic.
Great video. First time commenter. Do you know and can tell us about 2035. Like its age and back story or origin of how it ended up in your possession?
My Lionel 2025 is a basket case of parts! it’s shell and drive are from 1947 and are very special to me because it was my uncles before me. The rest of the pieces including the driver wheels, lead and trailing wheels, smoker and light are from a 1952 variant😂
I think the trains with memories attached to them are the best kind
That's nice, friend.
Thank you
Nice model and video. I like the simplicity of this play ground to present a beautiful train set. I will adapt it for my Texas special set😊
Just ordered a 666 off Ebay my 3rd steamer I am amazed how well these train were built to last. Thank you for the show
I learned some things! 😊
What size is the plywood required ? Thanks
Very nice
That is a great set, thanks for sharing.
Came looking to see where the power was and how to hook it up : /
Great update video 😊
Thank you
I have the same locomotive! You have great taste!
Thank you
Very nice!
Thank you
My horn stopped working on my Lionel New York Central flyer 027 gauge anybody know why horn doesn’t work 0:47
Nice Kato Unitrack layout!
That's a nice locomotive model. How long the crossheads survive depends on what kind of plastic they're made from. Some of the hardwearing ones are pretty durable. And I like the neatness of the little layout too.
I have one of these locos, in CN paint, and the 'plastic' cross heads are actually Delrin, a slippery engineering plastic that is very tough and very slippery, perfect for crossheads
Okay so I have a question 🙋♀️ I inherited one of these from my late grandfather and I would like to get it running- how do I hook it up to the power source?
Assuming it still has the original transformer you just run one wire to an outside rail and one to the middle rail they recommend running the negative wire to the outside and positive to the middle but the train will run with them reversed
Very nice
Like the Plasticville buildings.
Thanks I'd like to add at least one more if I can
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving
Very nice. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving
Very nice
Thank you
Very nice. Is that a 3x4 layout. It looks great. Love the pond placement and the marx accessories.
It's 35"x48" so basically 3x4... It's been a grate little layout...
@@puggystoytrains1069 it is very nice.
@@paulbervid1610 thank you
@puggystoytrains1069 I made a 4x4 a few years ago on 28 inch legs. I put one on each corner and one in the center.
Very cool layout!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you
Nice train run.
Thank you
Cute set up.. like the clouds :) I picked up a very similar set at a thrift store and was wondering.. where are the wires on the crossing arm? Did you run them underneath? What is making it go up and down? Thanks :)
This Marx crossing gate has a magnetic plunger that makes it go up and down there are 2 wire terminals that attach to the track witch has one of the outside rails insulated and once the all metal wheels come in contact with that rail it completes a electrical circuit that activates the magnetic plunger and the gate goes down
SPLENDID !!!!!!
Amazing 😊
Thank you
Oh big tip saw you talking about ballast my new layout now I'm working on is in scale but my Primo layout was HO scale sand in different colors was great and cheap and you got a lot Michaels crafts store I'm sure you've heard of them you could shop there for a lot of things sand gravel and tree accessories for ballast and trees and sand I didn't do any Woodland scenic's it was too expensive
You are in a position now if you take this hobby seriously and have a good eye for detail hope you're not married or have a girlfriend because once you get into this it can be very time-consuming and a good proper finish of nice scenery and a detailed layout depending on the size of your room could be a year or so because there will be times let you get bored with building and just need to take a break and if you have another half she will be bugging you about that too so stick with it if you like it have fun I did it was great detailed mine pretty much to the max had fun doing it hope you do too
No wife, no GF, no kids, a good job, and in an aria with pretty low cost of living so I'm in a good place in my life for this kinda thing but I do have other hobbies that I like to jump around too...
@@puggystoytrains1069 good deal glad to hear you're on your way to having some fun my layout was 21 ft by 10 ft ho had a blast building it each night when I left the room I would stare at the layout for probably 15 minutes looking at it and the imagination goes to think about what portion do I want to do next
Now just get your kadee decoupler magnet put on the truck if it's ho you're working with sit right on top of the truck you can put your car on the switch track over the magnet put it in reverse and leave the car there had them on my layout they work great for different Industries to drop off cars
