Set of Reels by Hugo Axe
Set of four reels I’ve made in the last year or so and I couldn’t decide wether to play it mellow or fast but I guess it kinda decided it for me.

Weird Key and cross of tunes but I learned the first two from recordings of Sky Kelsey banjo and bouzouki, and the last one from Tijn Berends. Both are unbelievable musicians that inspire everyone in the community to play and get better. My cittern/bouzouki was made by the great Valerio Gorla

Three Tunes I love very much played in f. The first(full name Dessie O’Connor’s Páidín Ó Raifeartaigh) I learned from Mick O’Brien and Caomhin O’Raghallaigh’s Deadly Buzz album, followed by the Cullen. But I learned the Cullen and the third tune from Bouzouki collector extraordinar Marty Smith and Sky Kelley

Second Day with the new instrument and my golly I can’t express how much I love it. The first is a tune written by the genius Tijn Berends and the second I learned from Mick O'Brien & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh.

I learned both this and Träskovals från Skäralid from a cittern player named Ale Carr and the GDGD tuning does a nice job of Mocking the lower fifth string of a cittern.

I usually play in GDAD but thought I’d try GDGD for some specific tunes that require a 5th distance for the top strings, and it works pretty well.

From one Zouk to another, this is an amazing set. Great playing on a great sounding instrument!
This needs more views!! Great playing!
Nice. What strings do you use?
Nice melody and perfect speed!
Exquisite!
Brilliant, Hugo. You'll have to come back and play again in Ireland. You're a natural, though I know you work hard at it too. But you 'have' the music in you. 👏👏👏👏👏
Wow! Very talented. Stephanie must be so proud.
The algorithm has served me well again! This does not have nearly enough views for your talent level
Me too, how did they know I like cool jams😮
Soubds great!
Wonderful Playing!! I too would like to know what tuning you are using.
Hello and thank you for listening! I am in DGDAD and capo on fourth fret, Happy new years!
@@hughwiththezouk2982 Hi Hugh. Thanks for the reply. I use ADADG and capo on the 2nd fret. Love the tunes. Cheers.
What tuning are you using?
I am playing in DGDAD and capo on fourth fret, Happy New years!
Great playing :)
awesome tone on that, really nice playing!
I thought I knew a lot about instruments, so finding out about the cittern and its modern players has been an unexpected joy recently! As someone interested in aquiring one and getting up to speed, I hope you see this and let me know where to go looking?
There is a Facebook forum called the Irish Bouzouki Forum that often lists new and previously owned Bouzoukis along with a lot of other cool info. I found Mr. Gorla on there and really liked the quality of instruments and all for a decent price.
First dorm video! Happy Halloween!
incredible. I didn't saw this haha it's wonderful ! Love from France my friend (Tijin's book is a real treasure ^^)
As always, not far from perfection !!! Love the sound 😋
Thank you for listening and the compliments, I love this instrument more than most things in my life
Awesome ! You improve very well your style 😁 It's being very personal and singular. Continue like that my friend 👌
Thank you so much, this compliment goes so far! Thank you for listening:)
Very nice playing and great sounding cittern.
Thank you so much for listening!
Wow, that's something else! Impressive speed and sounds absolutely amazing. Please keep them coming, I can't wait to see what you post next.
Thanks Nathan, I appreciate the extra attention:)
Lovely playing, thank you!
Rocking
Wonderful playing!
Really a nice sound for that tune usually played in A dorian. Just a question : why did you choose the fourth fret for the capo and not the fifth ? Anyway, well done !
I forgot to specify : I am talking about "Slieve Russel" (from 2:34 until the end)
I meant the seventh fret for the capo (if A dorian) of course... Sorry.
Thank you! Tijn Berends plays Winter is canceled in F# and the recording of Mick O’Brien and Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh I first heard Sliabh Russell is somehow in the same key: m.ua-cam.com/video/KuVGLdAUMAM/v-deo.html
@@hughwiththezouk2982 Well, everything lights up ! Tijn Berends is the most impressive soloist I have discovered at the bouzouki. And only with a four strings (or four course) "cittern"... I guess you wondered (like me, listening to him), why add a course more ! And on which side : bass or treble ?... All the best.
The main voice is pretty good, the bouzouki is well played. Keep going and have fun guys !
Sounds good Guys. Well done from the UK!
Thank you!
Very impressive again !!! It reminds very well Tijin's way of playing buzuki indeed. Few things are better than Irish music in fact. 😆 Another time, if you have tabs I would be very interested for practicing ! Congratulations from France.
Thank you! Tijn has been the hugest influence on my playing over the years and yes, nothing better than some reels and jigs!
Vers nice ! I haven't heard it for a long time, in particular on a cittern. Do you have tabs for buzuki ???
@@hughwiththezouk2982 ok thank you very much ! Don't worry about your French, it is very understandable. Well, I will have a look at the book. Keep doing your work on the instrument 😃 Bon courage, et vive la musique irlandaise ! 🥰🇮🇪☘️
Is this a cittern? Sounds great.
speechless...congrats Hugh....so natural...well almost speechless...your music seems to just flow from you. 5:53
wow amazing! good job Hugh! 2:53
And now I feel I need to get back to practice.
Awesome job there, Hugh! Take me back to many Irish pub trad music.
very nice job
Thank you!
А куда струну потерял?
Nice sound...who is the maker..
Mr. Valerio Gorla in Italy, I loved the process and he is such a perfect person. I highly recommend for an amazing price
wow ...great playing , great sound !
Thank you very much!
Very well played! Which tuning do you use?
Thank You! I am using DGDAD tuning in the video with Octave Pairs on the low D and G
Nice tune! What tuming do you have it in? I'm waiting on my first cittern and I'm curious which tuning would be best.
Thank you! I mainly use GDAD for Bouzouki but with the low D I use DGDAD in the video(sometimes DGDGD for other tunes)
Nicely done!
Thank you!
Competition over, perfect time re-tune
