Studying Gesture with Michael Hampton
Переглядів 2,3 тис.4 роки тому
Hey guys just a video here going through the book of Michael Hampton, let me know if you like the video or if there are any other artists you'd like to see me go over. Thanks for watching :) If you have anything you'd like to see next from me please let me know! Or if you have anything to say about the video that would be great :)
People who whine about not wanting to use construction are exactly the people who need to use construction. You use construction so much that you are sick to death of it. You need to use it so much you know it inside out and sideways. You use it so much that you don't need to use it anymore. That is how to get to where you "don't need to use" construction lines.
@@ducksoff7236yeah there's no easy way around it, you have to learn construction before you learn to draw without construction. A lot of people want shortcuts but with art if you want to get good there's no certainly no easy mode
Great tutorial. What's the name of this theme in the background? It's from Mario right?
@@Fightookaishii thanks! Yes you're right it's from the original Mario kart! Lofi version
@andrewrussell8387 what's the name? I've forgotten what it's titled 😅
@@Fightookaishii oh, it's called Super Mario Kart - and the track is lofi by Heavy Machine Gun
J’ai kiffé c’est vraiment un avis sincère sans trucs inutiles tu vas droit au but merci 🙏
Thank you so much! I will be making a lot more videos like this one
Amazing video, also I love your art style. What books or exercises do you recommend to draw faces in angle, is where I struggle the most.
Thank you I'm glad you liked the video! I'd definitely reccomend Andrew Loomis Drawing the Head, it's a great reference for drawing the head in different angles and in perspective!
i love sketchbook pro. i use it for my sketching, but i also use it for putting finish on digital paintings because i find the blending tools are better than any other software i use (photoshop, rebelle7, fresco, etc). It emulates the best wet media (oils) that i can find. Smeary and wonderful.
@@hognado4075 great to see another autodesk sketchbook fan! Where are you all hiding? 👀 Absolutely, it's so easy to boot up and just start drawing, really good for navigation and panning too, plus as you say the blending options are great. I might do a video on it soon!
Well we can't call it Autodesk anymore because they left and sold it to another company but Sketchbook Fan is here
@@senjuart I honestly had no idea! So it's just sketchbook pro now? Makes it a lot easier to say at least 😅

This great, I've been trying to study his style and for some reason I didn't even think about the shadow shapes practice 😅
Glad I could help! I will be making more videos on this soon
@andrewrussell8387 yes I look forward to it!
Would Love to see more about drawing with Shapes. Thanks 🏝️
Hi, I'm here to learn on your drawing method and listen to the music you choose 😁 *Already subscribed tho.
This technique is triggering what Gestalt Theory has explained about human perception of reality. How we sense the world and our brain gathers the pieces around while looking at something. You can check that out but check the physical theory one not the sociology interpretation of it. The original concrete theory about the visuals we perceive.
Yoji Shinkawa is one of the best...thamks for showing
Ok I stumbled upon this video while trying to start my drawing journey. And immediately trusted you since you used Breezy as an intro music. 🤣
More please my goodman I just got back into drawing.
Ppl talking about rayman... I only have ear for final fantasy VIII 😅
Andrew- This style has struck a big chord with me- I love this using Procreate…

I often get caugh in working on the structure of the face, that usually leads to a result that is boring or just doesn't make me feel like its transmiting something. I think this was the advice that i needed to hear now, thanks for making this video
Yeah, sometimes I think that we get so focused on construction that we lose the essence and fun of drawing! Thank you I really hope this helps you in your journey
That was great thank you :D I struggle quite a bit with stylization, and I feel like this could help a ton!
@@-._.-._.-._.-._.-._.- That's great to hear! This is a great method to use to keep things fun while learning good drawing fundamentals at the same time. Let me know how it goes!

I dont think You'll be able to capture his work because he's traditional and the nature of the medium he use is chaotic and inconsistent the result he gets is unique to him and your using digital
@@luxuriousmindset1906 That's true, digital can never be a replacement for traditional media and there will never be another artist like Shinkawa, however we can still study and practice his techniques, there is a huge amount we can learn from him 🙏
@andrewrussell8387 no you can't study his technique because it's freehand ink drawing that's like trying to copy someone's DNA yall overvalue this copying stuff when he didn't even do that it's why westerners will never be as creative as the east too much reliance on just trying to copy some one else
Not me having googled Yoji Shinkawa a few days prior and now seeing your video up ✨
@@Peionier it was destiny 😂
Yes it's Google algorithm working it's wonder. It tracks down your search and then UA-cam shows similar videos.
As a complete beginner, how does one get to this level aside from practice? With so much info out there it can get daunting! Cheers from Vancouver 🎉
@@geburu great question! Od course practice is the key ingredient...as long as it is smart practice. Aside from that, watching other artists is a great way to learn different things and develop knowledge, but honestly application is the key. If you head to my Instagram I'm offering 1 to 1 mentoring soon, but I'll only be taking on a few people
