Race between wingsuit and plane

I had the camera facing upwards for this flight in order to gauge the speed of my Squirrel Swift 2 wingsuit vs the jump plane flying at 73 knots (85MPH) horizontal speed for the first 5 seconds of my flight and then at 86 knots (99MPH) horizontal speed (with a then larger vertical component as the plane dives to return to the airport) thereafter.
As can be seen, as I left the plane it pulls ahead for the first 2 seconds until I have my wing flying configuration optimized and thereafter even as the distance between us increases, the angle to the plane and the sun stays roughly the same indicating that we are roughly keeping level at around 99MPH horizontal speed... Its not exact but gives the viewer an idea...
Some line twists on opening but nothing too serious...

Chris was just cruising in his Swift2 Squirrel wingsuit and I was really working to keep up in my older wingsuit. Horizontal "tracking" speed exceeded 100mph

A fun 19 point skydive from a Twin Otter jump plane at Lodi. The exit initially went a little pear shaped but we pulled it back... Not too bad considering this was our first jump together...:)

Some big separation on exit due to camera leaving a little late but the rest of the dive was a really great RW skydive on an awesome spring morning!

Epic Skydive Separation At Launch

A slip on the slippery wet aircraft floor at the launch of the skydive plus a backslide "down the hill" caused an epic separation...anyway still got in a few points whilst flying down amongst the clouds...a fun day which began with some BASE activity.

After an early but wonderful base jump on a stunning California day I headed off to do another 2 great RW skydives. Even though this linked exit folded we still got it together and put in 7 RW points before exciting return to DZ.
