You lost me where you cleaned a PC board with a wire brush. You know, the fastest way to damage other components on the board. Good grief.
Another successful repair, thank you.
Awesome, thanks it worked!! Thanks a million
I thought you were playing about putting it in the oven lol
Update: It worked for like a week. Then stopped working
Bro is actually works 😂 just tried it
So just curious if the clock is flickering, is it worth it to check the fuses first?
Worked for an hr then stopped again. Honestly I don't think this is the problem c. It just works sometimes from taking it out and in
200 is not hot enough to melt solder
I was surprised this worked considering I had to use my barbecue because my oven was in use. Thanks for the help
You need to disassemble it all the way down to the chip board and put it in the oven 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes and it will work. Take it all the way apart. The plastic on the cd player will melt. 375 degrees for 6-7 minutes REALLY DOES WORK!!!
I did it at 385 for 10-15 minutes two different times and it works at first but then after like a day it goes back to broken again. Weird
Thanks a lot the oven thing work with mine
Did it work??? How did you go through all that and not show us if the radio is working.
I really worked thanks
My radio hasn't worked for about 2 years now in my 2014 F150. The video was very helpful, thank you. I did try this method last night but unfortunately it did not work.
I have a 2011 f150 and only have 3 volts going to the radio and I tried the fuses but does anyone know if it would be anything else
I have a method that works, but you have to do it after checking the fuses.. if that doesn’t work, you’ll be frustrated enough because you don’t know what’s wrong, take your fist and hit the media center near the USB port. Radio cut right back on for me and hasn’t cut off since.. may take a couple hits
I've done this with success but recommend NOT baking your cd player if you want that to work...the circuit board can be removed from the frame/cage. Bake only the circuit board!!!
Resolder by hand Q201. It is a 8 pin IC or transistor pack. Heating in the oven trying to reflow lead free solder without flux on the board is pointless. It may work but not for long. You also risk further damage to the board and or connectors. The only way to reflow the board properly is to get it hot enough that it may melt or deform those connectors. The connectors are most likely added on after the main board is produced in another machine that wave solders them on. Also there is components on the the bottom side of the board that can fall off during the reflow if it is moved before cooled.
20 minutes at 200 degrees worked for me
This worked!! I thought everyone who commented was just making shit up and going along with the joke. Turns out I was wrong. I seriously can't believe this worked. I don't know how or why but it fixed the radio and Bluetooth issues I was having
Awesome!
It work thanks brother! I didn’t have the money for new radio at the moment!
Thanks!
The radio in my 2013 Ford F150 quit working about 3 years ago. I’m off for the holidays so I decided to be froggy and try this. I didn’t have any faith that this would work but what did I have to lose? To my amazement, it fixed everything. I was able to set my clock, listen to the radio, and sync my phone!! I’m pretty sure it ruined my CD player because parts melted but who uses a CD player anymore 🤷🏼♀️. Wow!!! Great video.
Another waste of time, I'm calling bs on all you shadetree mechanics that don't your ass from a gopher hole.
honestly didn't think it'd work, did 15 min 200 and 10 min 300. only problems was that the plastic on the front where the cd player is located got messed up so I took it off, it also didn't actually work at first and the cd player kept spinning but stopped and then the radio came on. Nice 🫡, nvm stopped working again 😐
You lost me at wire brush! If you do this hit the board with electrical contact cleaner or compressed air. Showing us where the bad connection is would be nice to see so I can re solder it not put it in the oven and risk damage to other parts. I had a similar problem with my 25 year old home unit and cleaning it out worked just fine.
Me tienen arto los comerciales😡🤬
Another success history over here! I bought a 2012 F150 with radio doing the blink thing on the dash. Following previous comments, First I’ve removed CD stuff - ribbon included - and then baked for 15 minutes at 200 F (100 Celsius) and inmediately just to be sure another 7 minutes at 300 F (150 Celsius). Works just fine!! Thanks a lot!! Greeting from Chile!
Realmente te funcionó? @RoloAtWerk comentar algunos detalle para hacerlo, tengo una f150 2014 que no le funciona el radio, el reloj parpadea. Me funcionará este proceso? A ti te funcionó?
@@memolucy así es, funciona!
Omgggggggg literally just saved me 300😭😭🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
I got you🫡
I just took mine out but I had a 4th one on back
It worked for me in the oven at 385 for 10 minutes. I turned the oven off and opened the door until it cooled before I removed it.
I changed my battery on my ford f-150 2012 model and now the radio and clock do not work. Screen displays "Built Ford Tough" Everything else works fine.
THANK YOU!! This worked!
What about preheating the oven? I assume oven was preheated before putting it in? Also, it should sit with our movements during cool down, yes?
Welllll… it didn’t work for me. Tried it in preheated oven of 200 for 15min. 2nd attempt 250 for 15min.
Do I have to put radio all back together before trying to see if it works
Yeah did you get it workin?
How long before u can put it back in after the bake?
I would snap it back in when its cooled down
I’m going to try it and hopefully it works
@@billhegner9878 if not, you can always try a little bit longer in the oven
@@Stewartmotorsgarage sounds good I’ll let you know if it works
@@Stewartmotorsgaragewhat should I put the radio on when I put it in the oven?
@tunanocrust302 I wonder if a heat gun would accomplish the same thing? If the point is to heat up that connection, it seems like a heat gun would work. Thoughts?
it will, it's most likely the main chip on the board that's causing this issue, happens to lots of other radios as well. blast that with a heat gun at a decent temp without melting everything and it should be good. i've done it on my kenwood, will be trying it on this ford radio later.
My raido is working but the screen turns off after a while. Can you help?
Works 💯 but had to heat it at 250 for 15 for it to work
Did exactly what you said. Worked for 2 minutes then stopped working again.
Maybe put it in oven for longer and then try it? Youll get it!
But your radio display wasn't flashing before you took it apart.
In my f150, fuse 28 (radio muting) has no power I changed the fuse and still no power. I have no sound and blinking display
I have a 2013 f150 single cab . I got an amp set up and I’m wondering which colors are the front speakers. I have to hook up a line output converter for my stock radio
I've been beating my and getting it to come back on haha. Gonna try this for sure!
Will it not work if I don’t take it apart ?? I mean could I technically just pull it out and pop it in the oven without taking the sides off ?? lol
It should work if you just stick it in there
Good tips, I baked a little higher, 175 for ten mins then 375 for 6 and it worked!!
Unfortunately it only worked for like a day and then it broke again :( I tried rebaking it to no avail.
@@assult537im in the same situation.. have you figured it out yet?
Did this a couple days ago. Thank you for the tip. I did 15 minutes at 200 degrees and then ramped up to 300 degrees for 10 minutes. Worked like a charm!
I tried the 200 for 15 mins he recommended but it didn't work so I tried this. 200 for 15 mins with 10 mins at 300 after. Works perfectly now 👍
@@danielmcdougle6925hey did u do the 300 right away ?
@billhegner9878 right after the 15 mins at 200 I turned the temp up to 300 for 10 more minutes.
The radio in my 2011 f150 quit 5 years ago. Just came across this video and tried it. Radio now works including Bluetooth but no CD. I had the oven too hot. 200 F is actually hot enough. Thank you
