This was a fun video. I really enjoyed the chatty long format you have here. If you end up doing a purging video of all the planner things you no longer want I would not complain. I find haul videos quite boring, but "what didn't work" videos quite interesting.

At the end of the day, planner hop girlfriend use a different one every month if it helps you be peaceful n happy. No guilt, what’s functional for you is key. Smile often as possible we all need more of that. IF you decide to stay in the discs, I think I have a suggestion that might help, the left hand page can be used for decor, stickers, washy, etc… oorrr functional stickers. Meaning, if u have or use those stickers that map out what’s going on, example… on a Tuesday for me I’d put trash reminder sticker, a pharmacy sticker, son’s work schedule, n mop/broom (symbols or those lettered out word stickers) then you have the script/writing, but you aren’t necessarily the one struggling to write? Even if you change to like “dashboard inserts” hopefully the empty space would be on right side. Update, I bought a Moterm personal rings for my own stuffs, bought inserts from temu cheap cheap I think with dividers n inserts were like $5, but Moterm cover was what I bought from Amazon, so kinda expensive. I kept my mom’s stuff in a passport TN, it just works. I also bought a disc notebook cheapy $13 bucks thing, just to see what the hoopla is about the HP thing. Yea sooooo not lol.

I really like your planning style. I’ve looked thru your vids and was wondering if you’ve provided your daily schedule template? I have a mini and I’ve been struggling to find something like that.

Nice video. HP mini is what made me start in the planning community. Eventho I've branched out to other planners/journals, I still keep coming back to the mini HP. I do take out the pages tho since like you said the discs gets in the way of writing.. May I also ask where you got the minnie mouse folder? I am a huge mickey mouse fan. I didn't catch the name of the shop where you got it.

Not that I’m advocating for one or another, but I’ve been going down one hell of a rabbit hole for months now researching, watching, studying, etc different planners. I’ve been thrown into this world not by choice but by necessity. I was digital girl for years but due to family illness I found being on phone while accessing notes, calendars, etc on same phone just didn’t work. Being a human who HATES to spend money (and again family illness is expensive) I decided to try EVERYTHING by doing it diy first to find my fit first before I take out a second mortgage to fund this so here’s what I’ve found, n I apologize for longer comment upfront. I found that a tn is the best way to do what I need. The separation of books means I do not have to have a huge book while I’m getting my semi mobile mom out n to the dr yet I have a booklet with all info I need to update him on his questions. I found that I didn’t want my trackers with her trackers so it’s not confusing. I found that making my own inserts means I can absolutely go into Walmart n buy a $1 notebook n cut it down and or print out inserts on sticker paper that doesn’t bulk up my inserts yet it gives me my fix to do “set ups”. It also means that some I can leave loose leaf just under elastic bad n not bound to throw away flipping type notes without destroying whole booklets. Or different option having secretary pockets means I have note pads in front or back. I found that my booklets (because I made them) they lay perfectly flat, I also flip them over on themselves no problem, no destruction. N I get like 4-6 booklets out of one composition book depending on how thick I want it so I pay a dollar for 4-6 booklets. Plus the cut off can go stapled to card stock for note pads. I found that if I want like a themed month I use a small booklet created for just that month then I remove n archive in a three ring binder n because I use passport tn size I have a 3ring binder with “sport card sleeves” to archive in that binder n I don’t think I could ever fill it. For my leather fix instead of taking out bank loans to fund, I went to a second hand shop n bought a leather wallet n use it as my cover. There’s a huge variety of bigger wallets to do large tn with just tweaking a $3 wallet from a second hand shop rather than spending hundreds on leathers from some leather shops. N same affects. I find that when we do travel for dr appts in bigger cities I can take the whole set up if I want to do my other inserts I can pull it out of a bag I have set up with the things my mother needs to carry along n it’s not taking up space or popping out of rings / discs even through it’s just thrown in a bag with her meds, or wipes, etc. the paper quality…. Well that I have no answer for. Not all paper is created equal, however… I have any type of paper I choose by buying the type I want n cutting it down to what I need. I can buy a $1 compensation notebook or I can go to Office Depot n buy copy paper of my choosing, mine is 1000% customizable. I tip in vellum, acetate, dashboards are SOOOO simple, I just cut big enough peace n loop it under elastics around booklets n decorate as I see fit. I can print stuff only IF I choose but it’s not necessary to function if I don’t. I do not attach my “booklet covers” to them so I can reuse until I get sick of them orrrrr use theme ones per occasions. I loved the video and again my apologies for long comment but I hope this helps you a lil or someone of your subs maybe. I know I was lost when I was forced to figure a lot out when my mom fell bedridden suddenly after covid n thru trial n error I figured it out. Hi, thanks for showing the beautiful inserts and divider etc for your Half Letter Discbound Planner. I am also over 50 and have a hard time with small print, so when I saw your checkbox sheet, my first thought was...well, I'd just use 3 lines per 1 checkbox, so more room to write, lol. How did you end up using them?

Such a great video. My biggest issue with the TN is that it won’t lay flat. I know I can use clips and it works but I just can’t. LOL

Love this video! I'm a TN girl all the way. I have been in other planners but always keep coming back to the TN. I love that you can have the different inserts and when full you can just archive them.(or dispose of them). I like starting a new insert very couple of months.

Fun and informative video! One idea: you could just add French/neutral/pink decor to your TN, instead of random? Also, I train my travelers notebook to lay flat. I don’t baby it…I fold it back to convince it to relax, and it now lays (mostly) flat.😉 Third idea: I use random A4 paper, fold it, trim or fold down to standard size, and slip it under the elastic in the middle of an insert. Those pages are brain dumps, scratch paper, notes, etc. They can be easily removed or added to. I realize that idea is not for everyone. 😊 TFS!!

Hey Lesa! I’ve had some slips in my low buy too, or at least I would have liked to resist at least one of the things I bought. I did resist several others, some are even just sitting in the cart! As far as TNs and 1/2 letter, I love them both! I use one for work and one for personal. They are my favorites! ❤your mini!

My hobby lobby still has those season stickers you said you cant find anymore. Maybe it depends on stores. Why not try online to see if they have them online?

I just purchased the cp petite since I love disc bound planners but needed something smaller. Question for your cp petite where did you get your inserts? Cloth and paper doesn’t have every insert that I need. Thanks for your help

Lesa u can just cut the a6 inserts at 4 by 6. I have a cp petite also and that’s what I did. Cut one side and either top or bottom cut line then just cut at 4 by 6”. I also use the half letter. I don’t think I can quit it tho, half letter is the size I always go back to.

I used 1.25 in discs i am a weekly planner i found i keep 3 months at a time in my planner been in half letter now for over a year originally in personal planner but it was really chunky so i minimised it into the half letter

I've used discbound half letter for years, sometimes for planning but mostly as my notebook system of choice. Three things make a big difference for discs. 1) ditch those stupid leather covered covers and get some glass plastic covers from Cloth & Paper. Those leather covers look nice but they add bulk and the part that needs to be sturdy is flimsy AF. The stitching won't last. 2) Always use metal discs. Plastic disks have mold marks that can catch on the paper. 3) don't go over 1.25 inch for something you're going to be flipping through a lot. More thickness = more travel when you flip pages and that leads to the punched parts folding and tearing. If you plan right, you can have a nice planner on 1.25 discs. The dimensions are another matter, I went back to planning in a B6/personal wide size because I like that page size more than half letter for planning.

I cut slits in the holes of my inserts, dividers, etc so I can move things in and out without having to constantly open the rings - it helps avoid gapping. :)

Beautiful collection. I actually prefer the shinier Hayez.😁 I think it’s gorgeous. I do agree on the Giovanni. I feel like it should’ve been in a Mystery Box, but people like character (some more then others) so I think they would see that as having some Character. Also I didn’t realize they were discontinuing the Artist Collection. They do source it from Italy so it’s probably harder to get and not so popular. Thanks for the heads up. -Jen
