Covering pretty much all genres of music (classic rock, traditional/folk, modern pop, country, hip hop, big band) ranging from 1920's up to the present.
Most of these wouldn't exist were it not for the stir-crazy-ness of the covid lockdown, back in March of 2020. ;)

Van Diemen's Land - U2 (1988)
Van Diemen's Land - U2 (1988)
I loved this song since U2's "Rattle & Hum" album first came out (it was my old brother's record), but for years would wonder what all the verses were, since the album version is the live recording that segues into an INTERVIEW CLIP (on the album!!).
I never forgot this song, and, years later - thanks to the invention of the internet - I finally found out what the 'missing' lyrics were.

Nobody Home - Pink Floyd (1979)

Nobody Home - Pink Floyd (1979) Always loved 'The Wall' ever since we used to wake up to it every morning in cadet camp back in '88. :) Weird memories! :D This song was written very late in the process of recording that album, after one particular night of fighting between Roger Waters and David Gilmour. It's been said that this song is semi-biographical about bandmember Syd Barrett, but they i...
We've Got Tonight - Bob Seger (1978)

We've Got Tonight - Bob Seger (1978) Growing up with older brothers I always remember there being Bob Seger albums in the house, and so this song became one more 'stitch in the soundtrack'. Originally recorded in 1975 during his "Night Moves" album sessions at Muscle Shoals, this song was kept on the shelf until his follow-up album "Stranger in Town" (which also featured a pile of other now-cla...
Badlands - Bruce Springsteen (1978)

Badlands - Bruce Springsteen (1978) Life is tough - now go kick its ass! :) When he wrote this song Springsteen said that at first he thought of just the TITLE...and then put it away until much later, because a name like that was going to require a worthy song! Badlands is a staple of every E Street Band concert that gives that liftoff boost no matter 'when' it gets played (both times I saw the...
If I Knew - Bruno Mars (2012)

"If I Knew" is the final track off of Bruno Mars' 2012 album 'Unorthodox Jukebox', said to have been inspired by Sam Cooke's soul sound with a doo-wop sprinkling of heartbreak, hurtin', and regret. It sucks to not be able to go back to the moment before someone in a relationship screwed up. Bruno Mars knows this.
Creggan White Hare (traditional)

Came across Daoirí Farrell's awesome version (2008) of this song a few years back, which led me to discover Andy Irvine's (1982), and all the way back to Paddy Tunney (1945), but this tune is even older than that! The song describes 'coursing' (rabbit hunting) events that took place in Creggan, County Tyrone. After Barney Conway failed to catch the hare while out hunting, he joins a group of gr...
Prince of Darkness - Ed Miller (2000)

Prince of Darkness - Ed Miller (2000) Back in 2001 I was living in Dallas, TX when I first heard about / attended the "North Texas Irish Festival" (held yearly in March)... I saw all kinds of super-high-calibre performers that year (Danú! Cathie Ryan!) but the most lasting impression was made on me by Scottish folk musician Ed Miller (orig. from Edinburgh, now living across the pond in Austin, ...
Burn - Ray LaMontagne (2004)

Burn - Ray LaMontagne (2004) From his award-winning debut album, "Trouble", this happy little ditty captures that brutal feeling of lost - and now unrequited - love. Just a little something to make your overcast day a little more grey. ;)
Heaven - Bryan Adams (1983)

Heaven - Bryan Adams (1983) Always loved Bryan Adams for his up-tempo rockers, though his most mainstream radio success seems to come from these big epic ballads. This song was a massive hit for him back in the summer of 1985 (as was his entire "Reckless' album). Covered this song as part of a Canada Day 2020 virtual show - Canadian artists only! #InTheAttic (with LaC)
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield (1981)

Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield (1981) My favourite song from my childhood. Had this on K-Tel's "Rock '82" compilation album - as well as Alvin & the Chipmunk's "Chipmunk Rock" - and I used to play the crap outta both those records (HUGE scratch at the end of the song right before "Jessie's Girl")
Growin' Up - Bruce Springsteen (1972)

Growin' Up - Bruce Springsteen (1972) Bruce had this song on his 'audition' set for CBS Records way back before he first got signed and made his first studio album "Greetings from Asbury Park" (on which this song first appears).
Your Song - Elton John (1970)

Your Song - Elton John (1970) Elton John/Bernie Taupin's first big 'hit' song, from their 2nd album together. Since then, Elton's said he thinks he's performed this song at 100% of his shows.
That Lucky Old Sun - Louis Armstrong (1949)

That Lucky Old Sun - Louis Armstrong (1949) "1949 popular song with music by Beasley Smith and words by Haven Gillespie, its lyrics contrast the toil and intense hardship of life with the obliviousness of the natural world." Personally I just enjoy the whole concept of idling away your days floating lazily thru the sky (and the Sun never needs any of that ol' accursed sunscreen - lucky indeed!)
No Diggity - Blackstreet (1992)

No Diggity - Blackstreet (1996) Back in the summer of '96 the "Macarena" was the king of the airwaves... until this tune came out of nowhere and sorted things out (it sure felt a lot cooler to groove to, imo). For me, the initial thing that grabbed me - aside from the obvious (beats by Dre) - was that I liked the piano-playing marionette in the video! :D This song was described by critics as "a...
