@@cindyholder2002 I guess I’m confused why would you do that? That means when you pull the plastic over the top it would catch on the purlin and rip it.

You definitely want it on the inside that is how every company builds their tunnels and kits.

@@KansasGardenGuy you want it on the outside so it gives it just a bit more pitch so the snow will roll off it easier.....and the thicker mil plastic wont rip

@@ChristyGolden-z2q yes that does work very well also. In a tunnel when doing the lower and lean method on tomatoes it really doesn’t work to plant below the tomato because it gets in the way. If you were to use up a bed in the tunnel for a plant that doesn’t make you any money it would not make sense to. Now planting stuff outside or in a small container garden yes I would interplant to assist with pest pressure but really no pressure with insects if so a little organic spray kills those out.

Yes I’m sorry. In the past video my lapel mic broke so I’m forced to use the dead cat for my phone until I can get another.

@@ChristyGolden-z2q I’ve seen that somewhere before but not to sure why? Ive done it in tunnels for the last 5 years and don’t notice any issues with it.

If your referring to possible diseases and pests I’m not to sure that is really something. If you plant a tunnel full of tomatoes or cucumbers separate you still get pests and diseases if your soil health is in poor condition. Mine is not so it works for me.

@@danielawilliams4399 I start Salanova ( 800) for my base salad mix. I use the Johnnys Wildfire as a add to the mix. 75/25 mix or blend . Some times I add Asian or spinach as the 25% to the Salanova. I also start Cherokee , Romaine,and or Muir as a head lettuce.

@@caseyarmstrong7064 not particularly as of yet. I use only organic as possible. I use Agrithrive Fish fertilizer thru my drip irrigation. I’m getting ready to do a series on building a DIY tunnel from scratch and it is start to working tunnel. I do have a older video about my drip system but it’s not as nice as they are now.

@@KansasGardenGuy got it. Thank you. I was more curious on how fertilizer, and how often. Do you use water soluble synthetics or water soluble fish emulsion, etc. I find using fish emulsions it plugs up my filter for my drip system. Thinking of going to a water soluble synthetic for my raised beds. I use to do organic, but I find that getting all the correct nutrients is hard to do, and may/can take up to years to establish. Idk.

@@caseyarmstrong7064 it does but I recommend only using 2 cups of fert in your one gallon tank per week. At that rate it gets pretty diluted down . I also clean out my filters once a week as a regiment but a synthetic 20-20-20 works great as long as you watch your dosage and extend your feeding cycle to once a month.

@@KansasGardenGuy thank you for your input. I use a 55 gallon barrel that I want to use like a dosage on system, but there pretty expensive. I just use a submersible pump and plumb it into my drip system. I’m gonna go back to using the master blend stuff. Always had great production with it. I just like talking garden stuff and getting people’s ideas, thank you for your suggestions.

@@housecat5202 well it’s been a mess for us around here. We’ve had flooded tunnels and it seems to be dumping lots of rain on us. As of today we are now in the middle of at least a stretch of heat and no rain for the next 7 days at least. We are lucky to not have the devastation a lot of others are having with the flooding going on .

@@kennysilver9769 it is base of our KS black dirt and than we build the beds on top of it with 4-6 inches of compost/ black dirt/ sand and than plant into. As we flip the beds I use 5 -5 gallon buckets of pure compost to amend the beds before planting every time after first bed build.

I’m so glad your Market experience has been good so far! I believe it’s all about the management on how your market sets it’s pace and or smoothness of its vendors. And yes it’s a bit stressful to sell to a vendor or restaurant setting because it’s a big if when and how much. Yes she has another food warehouse to pick up my slack at our place. She sends me a menu for 6 months and it helps to succession grow but still you may have more or less what they need. She also understands this is the first year for us growing and their farmer experience so we both work together to make it work. They just signed another 6 month contract to grow all winter for them so it seems to be working but make sure you keep them in the loop way ahead of time if you are not able to make the order so they can order from a whole seller or another place .

​@@KansasGardenGuyI hope to continue to grow our presence at the restaurant - so much easier and it's nice to have the guaranteed sale. Communication has been key to continuing the relationship. Now we just need to grow more consistently to meet the demand. Right now we're only producing enough for weekend specials and not a seasonal menu. I'm still proud of where we've come in just our second season. I've learned a lot from you over the past several years and am grateful for all of the knowledge you share. Thank you so much!
