How to clean your ice skate laces and insoles | EVERGLIDES
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
Give your ice skates the love they deserve by cleaning just two key parts of your boots! www.everglides.co.uk Instagram: @everglides Facebook: Everglides ltd
man i hate how Edeas left my ankles super loose and collapsing on outside edges, it's like you have no good option, you either leave the top loose to have a nice knee bent and be on top of the ball of your foot but feel like you ankle are wobbly as hell or you tight it up enough to feel that your ankles are supported but them you have no knee action what so ever and feel like you're being pushed to you heels -_- that's why i switched to Risports
Edea and Risport should be laced from the outside, in. I can’t believe you’re putting out this entire video with the boots laced incorrectly. I’m glad i watched the entire thing before continuing to recommend this video to parents. What a shame, because it would be a great resource, otherwise. Is there a reason you don’t follow Edea’s recommendations for lacing, or was this just an oversight?
Thank you ❤
Update video? It's been 4 years. 😢
Excellent video, thank you!
Very helpful; many thanks!
"avoid buying online" well thats a bit late for me, bought my first pair of skates online about a week ago, they just came and i am going to try them out at my local ice rink tomorrow
I love it. I woukd go back and forth how to lace my jacsons. Tha k younfor giving me a definite best way to have confortable skating. At least the lacing, now I need to see the bottom.at my feet. It gets tired fast.
I have risport Electra and every time I land a jump my ankle bends to the side making me fall out of it and I tied it just like how you did idk what’s wrong with it
Are you an adult? Or teenager? I wouldn’t put anyone older than 10-11 with size 225 or smaller in Electra. They don’t have enough support in the bigger sizes for bigger, stronger skaters. You are going to badly injure your ankles and never be able to jump again if you don’t upgrade
Hi! I am an adult and I started skatin 1 year ago. I am now working on single jumps and basic spins, which ROH is best for me in your opinion? 5"8 or 1"2? Thanks
What sharpness should I get as a beginner adult
Hi! I've bene taking lessons for a year now and i am beginning to practice single jumps. How to understand when it's time to upgrade to stiffer boots?
i appriciate you talking about the jackson blade my jackson 150s came with the Mark I blade and i noticed i couldnt spin in them properly and i thought i was going nut! i love the boot but the blade drives me insane the rocker is not curved enough even if your just doing recreational stuff! ( i made them work still do but i thought i was going crazy)
Thank you so so much
Thanks so much for this!❤
Hey, Im recreational skater, but this year im really lookin into buying proper ice ckates, i have some that are pretty soft id say and I do have a problem with my ankle/feet and i cant keep my footreally straight. this video was soo informative. I like the softskates I checked Jacskon's website. Im from czech erepublic and im not even sure if Ill be able to purchase BUT. they have SOFTEC and Jackson finesse Softskates - 180 and 380. I cant really find or understand the difference between those 3 skates, could anyone help me?
We’re is your shop?
Hi!!! I have a doubt, I just received my graf 500, they are a size 36 EU and come with an edea balance 9 1/3 blade. could you tell me if it is a good combination?🙏 and how far I can go with them at the level of jumps or spins. I bought them for recreational use as outdoor skating so I don't plan to do anything high level but just to be safe and not have injuries❤❤❤.
Thank you for the video, just wondering can I use the way lacing EDEA to lace Jackson boots? I always find it is quite difficult to bend knees when lacing the boot too tight on the top.
You mean leaving enough space on top of the skates that allows you to bend? NO. Edea are made just for that and still manage to give you support. The other brands also use that part to hold you in. It could be that your shoe is too hard for you/your skill level. If that is not the case... you could tie it slightly less tight (just slightly), it should still give you plenty support. Another option is this: Its the way it was explained to me at the pro-shop i got them. Do everything as she said for the Jackson, but dont go over-under, but go under-over (like you would tie eg hiking boots) That way it allows for a bit more movenent. I deliberately use it that way, and after wearing them for over a season, they are starting to get softer, so if i feel like they are too soft i can switch to the over-under. The difference between the 2 ways is how firm it holds it... so it makes sense that if your skills are a bit lower in the beginning and the new shoe really firm, you can (and maybe should) allow for more movement in the laces. Later when you get better and the shoe gets softer, switch to the other one to keep your foot secure and stay safe and comfortable.
Just get to the point.
Bought my skates here , Everglides are super knowledgeable, friendly and really patient to ensure you get the best fitting skates possible.
Timestamp - 1:10 The drill is not perpendicular to the boot heel - both screws. Just sayin.
What about speed skates ?
What about speed skates ?
Should you tie it so that at the tongue at the top it is not very tight but instead room where you can fit your finger in it? Would that help being able to bend your knees? I always thought the top shouldn’t be very tight, is that correct?
one question... graf 500, do they keep your feet warm?
Do you have a video and exercises for supination
for edea, the way to tie is OUT-IN, if you don't know this very bad professional. Only need to read the card that is provided with the boots or in Edea Web Side...
YES! I can’t believe they don’t know this!
I can only advise against these pic skates. They are expensive and of poor quality. The axles consist of an unnecessarily large number of individual parts, which makes handling extremely fiddly and annoying. When driving, you constantly tip forward and land on the stopper. That's no wonder, because the first roll is way too far back. You can't move or assemble anything yourself, the assembly of the frame on the shoe costs extra. I bought the skates from Ice Expression in Germany and am very dissatisfied with this seller. The riding characteristics of the Pic Skates with the wheels that are too soft and the bad bearings don't meet my expectations either. I recommend buying a pair of Seba or FR slalom skates at the same price level if you don't want to throw your money out the window. It may be that someone with many years of experience in figure skating can get along well with the pics, but for beginners and advanced users who want to ride off ice without having any ambitions towards figure skating, these skates are a waste of money. Impassable on normal roads unless you are a professional.
Genial hablas de hockey y artístico…donde dejas a los freeskaters
Ive been ice skating and in lessons for a few years but never really researched about it and light bulbs are going off in my head watching this realising how many things ive been doing wrong😭
Does anyone know whether I could get revolution blades for ice dance (shorter back) because I think the fact they are lightweight will really help with my spirals etc and i just really like the look of them but I'm an ice dancer and will need them with a shorter back so my footwork is cleaner. 😅
I decided at the ripe 'ol age of 64 to learn how to ice skate. I bought a pair of Jackson Ultima and after having the blades sharpened, I baked the skates at home myself. I just completed the basic level one class and I'm looking to continue to move up. I found your video to be of great help, especially with tying the laces up the hooks! Thanks a bunch.
I love that. I want to start too.😊
Please don’t put your skates in an oven! It’s meant for the ovens that are made by jackson themselves!
Very enlightening unfortunately I am finding this video after much foot pain and a fall or five, but thank you very much for the information.
It’s annoying because I live in the Midwest and there are no official shops
What are the differences between this 4-wheel frame and the Snow White 3-wheels?
Здравствуйте, подскажите пожалуйста, нам на примере edea показали как правильно они выглядят на ноге? Или на оборот что они слишком слобо затянуты? Обьесните мне пожалуйста этот момент с edea, просто мне не очень понятно
I'm an adult beginner starting ice skating in my 20s and I just purchased the Jackson Mystique with Mark II blades. Tried them on the ice today and having your own pair of skates does make a big difference (as long as they're cared for and maintained well). This video showed me how to properly lace my skates without applying too much pressure and avoidng the crushed toes feeling I normally experience during a skate session. First time I've had NO PAIN after my skate session (the insides of my skates are cushioned too). Thank you so much!
im a soccer player and i have to say thats the best video for ankle pronation. Damn im doing this exercises for 5 days and i see the results already. No Shin Splints anymore!

I am interested in information indicating whether Risport Electra Light might be suitable for relatively wide feet with circumference of 23-24 cm .
Idk about risport, but other brands (Graf and i think jackson as well) have different shoes for foot width, so maybe getting the wide one would be an option. Or if its just a tiiiiny bit too tight you can have them stretched out in the front/widened at the skates shop.
Risport Electra Light are for children. Adults can’t rely on the support ratings, and should go for the higher mid-range to top of the line models, in every brand. You would want to look at Risport Royal Pro.
I am a very new person to ice skating , and I have Graf 500 ice skates and I don’t know of I’ve laced them properly. Whenever I tend to lean my shin forwards the top makes a creaking noise? I haven’t seen any tutorials on them and I’ve tried to tie them like the Jackson’s. 😅😅 great video though
What can i do if the tingue of my boot is not as "deep" inside the boot/against the leg? I think my leg is a bit wider so the tongue barley touches against the sides of the boot. Is that bad?
Can the black staining be caused by blade sharpening too? I've seen a lot of sparks hitting the metal and maybe that's another reason for the black discolouration
Great video! I would add one more step, for safety reasons, especially as skaters advance in skills. You pointed out that blades can catch on large loops of the final bow tie, but any loop big enough to admit the toe or the heel of the blade could cause a problem when skating involves close feet. To prevent any possibility of the blade catching a loop of the laces, wrap the loops around the hooks so that they are not accessible. This works better than trying to tuck the bunny ears into the boot, because those tucked loops always seem to work their way out of hiding. Alternatively, one could use boot covers to hide the laces (an additional expense) or wear skating pants that are long enough and wide enough to pull down over the laces.
I want to go back to britten
My issue is that if i don't pull them super tight it feels too wiggly when skating and not stable enough on my foot. But my feet hurt like crazy within like 10 minutes when i tighten them so they don't feel wiggly...
The portion of the skate lacing that needs to be properly snug is at the flexion on your ankle, about where she did the anchoring half-knot, and the lowest/first hook. The higher hooks should be snug enough to hold the boot on, but they don't have to be tight and really should not be cranked tightly. You need to be able to flex your ankles when you bend your knees. The crossed lacing over the mid-foot and the toes does not have to be tight and should definitely not be so tight that it causes foot cramping or pain. There is an artery on the top of your foot that provides blood flow to your forefoot. Lacing over the mid-foot needs to hold the skate on your foot, without impeding the circulation. You should not be able to slide your foot around in the skate, even if the lacing is loose over your toes. If so, the skates are probably the wrong size length or width for your foot. Skates should generally be about a size smaller than street shoes. The boot should be like a glove or a sock over the foot, not loose and not pinchy-tight. Best thing is to have an experienced skate fitter find the right skates for you, if you can, and have them adjust the boots as needed (punch out for a bunion, for example). If you use orthotics in your street shoes, you should use similar orthotics in your skate boots. That definitely improves skating technique and comfort. HTH
@SNCNJCsMom the part around the ankle and about 1-2 eyelets on lower is probably where i tie them too much. It either hurts after a few minutes or it goes completely numb. Problem is when i did a class 10years ago the trainer tied the skates tight all the way so i couldn't really bend in the skate at all. It hurt too but i kinda got used to the "stability " and have problems balancing when the skates are a bit more loose. Other than that i think the fit of the boot is fine. I can wiggle my toes a bit bit other than that the boot is snug
I think I made a mistake buying Edea skates 😅
Thank you so much for your the video! Tomorrow my daughter will have the first skating class, I will follow your instructions to keep her be safe! Your video is very helpful!
I am a beginner in spinning and jumping. Do you advise me to take it?
