    Oh gosh don’t listen to moms in groups about how to price things. I used to be a professional photographer and those same moms buy cameras and charge bargain basement prices for work and never make any real money. It looks like you’re using at least 10 flowers in those bouquets or close to that - I’d say easy $20-25 for a bouquet like that. You have to include your time making the bouquets, supplies outside of flowers, time to grow them, ones you have to throw away and replace, and on and on. Your goal should be something like having ONE bouquet left at the end of the day instead of selling out halfway through!

    • @Emhaleshome
      @Emhaleshome 2 місяці тому

      That's such good advice! I guess since this is my first rodeo I'm definitely learning and hope to try different things (one of those raising my prices) and expanding my flowers! Thanks so much for watching 🤗

    • @lilacmile
      @lilacmile 2 місяці тому

      A dollar per stem of California giant zinnias is actually a fair prize. It is right to account for time and effort to grow, harvest and arrange, but the type of flower makes a difference too. $15 would be reasonable for those but you also have to serve your customers well, especially when they’re getting to know you. If the first week they were $10, better add a little something or wait till next season before upping the price. Something to consider for the next round, though, is that the stems of greenery are also worth something, even if $0.50 each, so say 8 stems of beautiful zinnias with 2-4 stems, depending on how full they are, of that greenery are well worth the $10.

    • @RionPhotography
      @RionPhotography Місяць тому

      @@lilacmileI learned early on in my business to value the customers who valued my work, not the ones looking for the best deal. If you put out a good product, you don’t need bargain hunters. People will pay for quality, for good service, they’ll even pay more just because they like you… there are a lot of factors that go into pricing. Once you learn to ignore what everyone else is doing and price yourself accurately you will be much happier in what you are doing. I got paid ridiculous amounts of money for the weddings I’ve photographed because I made an experience for my clients, not just showed up and snapped some pictures for bargain hunting brides. Trust me - prices are not set they are cultivated.

    • @lilacmile
      @lilacmile Місяць тому

      @@RionPhotography As an educated customer who knows the value of a particular product, I’m always willing to pay what it’s worth. Happily share what I know with sellers who might not, but steer clear from price gougers. And in general from people who miss the point from way up their high horse.

    • @RionPhotography
      @RionPhotography Місяць тому

      @@lilacmile Willing to pay what the flower is worth or what a vendors time and talent is worth? You are telling us repeatedly what the value of a flower is, but that isn’t what anyone should be selling… they should be selling themselves, their talent, their time, etc. That is not something you can dictate a price on. If you want to go buy a flower, then go pay a buck and buy a flower. You seem to be the one up on a high horse who really has no idea what the conversation here is actually about nor do you seem very business minded, you seem bargain basement consumer minded which is not someone anyone but Walmart should be marketing to if their goal is to actually have a sustainable business.

    I think $1/stem is inexpensive! My hubs and DD bought a mini bouquet for me from the local farmers market. It was 3 stems for $15. It had a peony, a hydrangea and something else that dd kept calling cherry blossom because we didn't know what it was. Anyhow, I think you should charge a little more. Your flowers are beautiful and your time cultivating them is valuable.

      Oh I wish we could grow peonies and hydrangeas here I would die but I think it's too hot where I live! 😭 In the zinnia FB page I'm in everyone on there said they do $1 a stem since they aren't that big of flowers and peonies and hydrangeas are larger specialty flowers I think? Either way I can always charge more as I go and see what happens! 👏🏻 Thanks so much for watching! 🌼

    This was my first year growing zinnias, so I just bought a packet from the Dollar Tree. The zinnias were part of an "neglect" bed experiment. I threw zinnias seeds, sunflower seeds, and some other random seeds in an area with clay soil that I had weeded and lightly fertilized. I left for two weeks, during which it rained very regularly. They definitely came up! The majority of the flower heads are small, but I am still saving the seeds. In fact, I just started a new zinnia and sunflower patch with the seeds from my minimal effort bed because I want to make sure I have fall flowers. BTW, I'm in 8b.

      Stop policing people's free speech. She doesn't have to edit what she chooses to say based on your personal opinions. You dont like it, change the channel and don't watch. Very simple to do minus the chastising. There is room for everyone to have a platform in their own voice.

      Ghetto looking is a clear descriptive phrase. If you think that's racial, talk to the people who created the mess.

    I'm in zone 9, too, and it's super hot right now. My zinnias just started blooming. They take awhile to get started. Feb was too early. I would try direct sowing the seed in May and keep it watered. They do really good with direct sow. They like the heat but they need water. This whole week we've been over 110 and I water morning and evening.

    My zinnias pooped out before they even started. I started them in end of feb. I think it was too cold? I'm in zone 9 though. Your garden is beautiful <3

      Oh no I'm sorry to hear that!! My first batch I planted really didn't do much and that's when I started this batch at the end of May so don't give up! You can keep planting if there's enough time before your first frost date 👏🏻 Thanks so much friend! 🌼🥰

      @@Emhaleshome thank you for the encouragement! I'm going to start them later - we get a lot of fog and clouds until July. This year was a trial year. I'll keep following your flower progress - keep the tips coming :) <3

      I'm in 8b with clay soil. I think the key is a lot of water. Once mine were 2 weeks old I mulched them with grass clippings. I did add about 1/4 inch garden soil on top of the clay soil and a little fertilizer. That's it!

    Our chickens would fight trying to get the food out of the feeder, lol, about a year after we got our chickens we started getting rats coming in to try to steal their food, so at night we have to put their food away

      That's good to know! We have two feeders and they haven't fought at all and if we start seeing an inside with critters we'll cap the top at night 😁

      We used 4in PVC from home Depot and made it 5ft tall! I'll try to make a video on it! I also have more details on my blog if you'd like to check it out! Emhaleshome.com
