The northern lights are so beautiful to watch. I can only see them in images, and videos. But I wish to see them in person

I live in the south of the u.s.a, and I believe the northern lights are above in the north.

Aurora are caused by the collision of charged particles with the ATMOSPHERE. The magnetosphere in the polar regions is weaker and as a result the particles can reach the atmosphere. This is why elsewhere in the world we don't see aurora - due to the magnetosphere.

Cod liver oil everyday! LOL! That was the rule on the old expedition ships, and on the regular Hurtigruten you get it when the ship passes the Polar Circle southbound (not compulsory!)! I made some unforgettable winter cruises on Hurtigruten from Bergen to Kirkenis and back and I saw the Northen Lights.
