First mix of the year 2025 is the year of the amen ❤
Starting off the new year strong!
sweet Jesus 10:09 the cuts are simply sublime. So so good. Which of these 2 was the turntables? or was it both of them?
Both on the turntables. In an interview they said the Essential Mix they did ( ua-cam.com/video/aDt3Tm5dOKw/v-deo.html ) was 3 guys and 4 turntables and they practiced for days, but I think Lionel had left by the time this mix was made. This mix has much faster cuts than the Essential one and tighter mixes, so maybe some stitching together in post as I'm not sure it's physically possible at times. Where they bring the Shadow mix of Meiso in with that sort of reverse slowdown effect then the beat kicking in is insane. Then again I completely failed in my quest to scratch, despite much practice, so I'm no expert 🙂

These house lot never did understand d&b did they. Big disconnect between the two scenes back then. Occasionally you'd hear it on Essential Mix, but then Tong would get the name wrong or something. House groovers always assumed house was for sophisticated people and d&b was some almost irrelevant toerag offshoot with dodgy druggies. Lots of noses turned up when d&b mentioned. In reality, jungle/d&b was the rebel music, from the streets and working class but way more advanced musically. We knew that all along though.
