Is it possible to create a separate EFI partition for Linux, since I already had Zorin installed, I created the EFI partition, but when installing Windows, it took the Zorin EFI partition, is there a risk in the future that some Windows update will cause a problem for dualboot? And how to solve it without having to format and install Windows first? Your video was fantastic, it solved my problem of why duaboot didn't show grub after I installed Windows, thks you

Why did you create additional partitions like swap ect ? when i installed ubuntu linux i did the something else option and just installed ubuntu on another drive. Everything works (almost) normally - this “almost” refers sometimes to driver problems, but hardware fault. Now I'm going to install ubuntu on a desktop computer (win&ubuntu is already on the laptop) - I need to have some security because I'm working remotely and if something crashes, I'll be screwed. Recently laptop didn't want ubuntu to fire up!!! - after clicking on GRUB 'ubuntu' I had a gray screen - and then I had a presentation in 1h (I almost had a heart attack). I went into some safe mode and fired up update&upgrade and it worked. Such a situation can not be repeated, so tomorrow will come to me 990Pro 1TB and ill put Linux on the desktop - but on desktop EVERYTING MUST BE PERFECT

Thank you very much for this! Grub wasn't showing up for me after following the finals steps and got it working by following a solution found on the Linux Mint Forums. On the terminal: sudo nano /etc/default/grub Nano is another terminal text editor and it's a bit friendlier than vim as I personally don't know how to use vim. Then find the line that says "GRUB_TIMEOUT=" and if it is "=0", update its value to 10 so it is "GRUB_TIMEOUT=10" Then find the line "GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden" and either remove the "hidden" and leave it blank or set it to "menu". I left it as "GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=" Finally, the line that we added on this tutorial "GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false" is already there but commented starting with a #, so you can either uncomment and remove the added line or just leave it as it is if this line is already added at the bottom of the file. Hit ctrl + x to exit, save the changes, then run sudo update-grub on the terminal. Then restart and verify if the grub menu shows with Windows listed. I hope this works for you!

Ventoy is much better than Rufus. Just copy past as many iso files as you want into a flash drive and thats ready to use!

If i understand correctly, mint doesn't need an efi as big as that. It really depends on the distro and how it uses /boot? And the issue with not using the existing efi partition isn't just windows updating but how CSM and secure boot throw a wrench into the way linux works?

Thank you so much this fix my problem! So here's my case if it can help anyone else : I was upgrading my windows 7 to windows 10 after I'm done setting up my linux mint. I'm installing linux mint and windows on the same hard drive. That was a big mistake. My boot goes straight to windows no other way to boot up my Linux. Tried changin all the settings in windows it still didn't work. Then I watch this video. I remember I still have the bootable drive to linux mint and i use the try linux just so I can access the terminal. After that I follow all the guide from this video. Even if my boot is not UEFI (my laptop still on Legacy) the guide still working guys. Just follow the step until you need to check uefibootmgr since you can't do that just exit instead. Take out the bootable drive when the screen say so and voila the boot option to dual boot linux mx and windows appear again.
