Hi Bill why the seated dip vs medx tricep machine. Is the seated dip a later incarnation or what is the purpose of the 2?
The seated dip is a compound exercise, it engages the triceps and the pectorals. The tricep machine is a single muscle exercise isolating just the tricep..
@@iamfitness Thanks Bill. My Medx tricep had one of the arms slightly bent when moving it so looking for options. No one in Australia seems to know much about them.
These machines are truly miraculous. I suffered from severe lower back pain due to an injury I received on a construction site when I was 24 years old. Resulted in disc bulging between L4-L5 lumbar disc. Suffered excruciating back pain & sciatica 24/7 down my left leg for 23 years. By accident I found an early MedX lumbar extension machine (the model where you lie on your side) at a gym I joined. I thought 'what do I have to lose', so I started with the lowest weight possible (10lbs?) and used it at least 3 times/week. Gradually increased the weight resistance to about 200 lbs over an eight week period. My pain disappeared and has not returned. It has now been 27 years of pain-free mobility. I only used the machine for about eight weeks.
what do you think about in a seated good morning or seated back extension machine without the restraining devices on the hip. Will the low back still be just going for a ride orbe the main muscles doing the work over the hip?

MedX LP's stack travel: 1-to-2. So is "real" resistance 1/2 of the #s?
The plates are in foot pounds which equals the number of the resistance factor accurately. 10 pounds on the plate requires 10 pounds of force to lift it.
Stretch position & 'pre-stretch': 2 very different things, both in definition & effect. Pre-stretch: Not a specific position, but a quick eccentric movement before reversing direction into the rep, achievable in any range. (Think of a boxer slightly pulling back before throwing a KO punch.) It should be avoided as potentially injurious in full-stretch position. For single reps, it enables greater weight-handling capability. It's pointless for multi-rep work. Full-stretch position, by contrast, is the weakest position, passive insufficiency. A weight suitable from full-stretch will be too light for the rest of the rep. Forget about full-range, & think full EFFECTIVE range. Avoid passive insufficiency & active insufficiency,(ie: cramping), when they occur at extreme ends of ROM.
What’s wrong with this rebuttal besides everything? Equalized resistance in isolated through the full range of motion.
So you still believe stretch position and pre stretch technique are dependent on one another? You believe that any weight you can handle from a full stretch is so well equalized by MedX technology that there’s no effect on weight handling capability in other ranges ? MedX isn’t a religion. Cams and 4-way linkages aren’t miracles. They’re being corrected all the time.Anyone who attempts a rep can prove my points to themselves. They don’t need either one of us.
@@lazur1 The scientific research on the subject is rocksolid and has withstood the test of time. This has been confirmed by exhaustive studies at leading universities around the world. Isolation, equalized resistance through the full range of motion. This had worked well for thousands of my subjects for almost fifty years. There are many different approaches and ideas out there. You are welcome to train any way that you feel is best for you. Doing anything is better than doing nothing at all.

Can the pad be placed as such that we do not move the neck but rather hold it in place to work isometrically with whatever resistance we choose to have?

Sounds like a pandemic is a great way to get businesses to pay polititians for the "priviledge" to do business and beat out competitors? Wall street can really take advantage without needing a war to buy out and transfer land and resources. It doesn't make sense that so many small business that may have more of an oportunity to keep eberything safe have to ose while huge places like walmart stay open? Logically it doesn't make sense, economically, I can see how the ones who make the laws can so make alot of money through corruption. The ones diverting the public's money can use it any way tbey choose. Usually tbey choose to self serve. Benefits for the benefit of the self benificiaries. Its a closed circle that excludes mom amd pop people who are willing to work hard and be responsible for themselves. The elites don't want competition working against them, they want slaves working for them.

Bill, Sorry to hear this. I don't understand what's going on but it just doesn't make sense. EOS Fitness is reopening and they are requiring face coverings while working out, even on the cardio equipment. eosfitness.com/reopening-again-plan-az/#1588103389993-72e02bce-b2d4 Very unsettling. Ken Hutchins' most recent writing indicates a preference for static contraction. To me, this would seem to be especially valid for safe exercise of the lumbar spine. Would not, therefore, (in spite of the hams & glutes being the prime movers), ANY back extension machine be an excellent isometric lumbar exercise?
