Welcome to the awesome world of AoE II. To beat hard ai you need early aggression and keep up the pressure from there. If you let it be it will mass ungodly amount of military backed by mighty economy and steamroll you. Also build farms around towncenters, not mill. Villagers are safer there as they can hop in to safety from potential raids.

The AI's don't have cheats, they're simply that good... Glad you enjoyed this game, hope you have a lot of fun with it :)

Yeah, it's crazy. You should be able to load recorded games, which is a setting which you can toggle at before the game and you can load up the game from your saved games folder and watch from the AI's perspective. You can see exactly what they're doing throughout the game.

i got some suggestions, your first priority is the usage of editing, in this day and age nobody will stick around for a 45 minute video with no cuts or effects whatsoever, so i suggest to do something similar to other hoi4 youtubers, cutting when the game aint paused, and only show the important parts, your 2nd priority is getting a better computer, hoi4 is a cpu intensive game so i suggest striving for a new cpu/processor, one that i have and recommend is intel i5 13400F, but the best choice is probably something from ryzen, try to get a ryzen 7 7800x3d if possible, it shreds the lag away, also if you want better performance i suggest getting the "(fixed) spot optimization" mod and the ai market optimization mod, those 2 really help on low end pcs like yours, good luck
45 Minutes is a long time for alg. because if people don't stick until the end it damages who they show the video to. The best format has been statistically around the 13 minute range.

I only play 1.30.6 for this very reason. More modern versions lag way too much and have too much woke garbage and stupid gimmicks / jokes in them such as Holy Horde.

Also, I get that you're doing live commentary and cutting it up after, but sometimes it feels like you are making a point or trying to explain yourself and then it gets cut off halfway through. Maybe when you are playing just overexplain yourself pretty thoroughly and in the final edit only keep in the parts that bring the message across most effectively.
