i'm sorry but you saying Mrs Calvin Harris was a bit funny teehee
such a fun series! Steve Nicks is amazing!!
She really is a legend. I wouldn’t have been mad if she did play the aunt in Practical Magic 😅
@@ThisKiwi03 she would have been awesome in that!
October was wild for me xD I read some of the best and some of the worst books of the year and they pretty much flipfloped back and forth, so I was all over the place. Add my lowkey reading slump on top of that and then you know how my month went... best book of October has to be Little Thieves for me. Just perfect execution, chef's kiss, 5/5 ⭐, can only recommend.
💖💖💖
Great selection ❤❤❤ thank you for inviting me to be part of your Read the Beats ❤
It was so great to do this with you, Nicole. I can’t wait to see your video!
so excited to do this with you!!! going to be a great month 😊 great tbr!!! i love that the numbers were wrong 😂😂 makes it even better i feel like im going to do this when i do mine hahah
This looks amazing 🎉🤩 I unfortunately do not have a NetGalley account. I review books with BookSiren but get nervous that I won't finish books on time, so I never get too many at once😅. The books you chose look very interesting. I am excited to hear how you liked them.
Thanks so much 😊 - If you ever decide to open a NetGalley account, you can look through the read now and only get 1 at a time. Probably the best way to keep your feedback ratio up. I believe with booksirens you are limited to just 1-2 books at a time. Is that right?
@ThisKiwi03 For BookSiren you are limited at the beginning but once you have done a certain amount of reviews (I think 8 or 10) you can get more at once. I thought a person had to have a certain amount of followers before they could get approved for NetGalley and since I am just starting to make consistent content 🤞 I have not even gone to their site to check it out :)
Oh I can’t wait for this!! It’s going to be so fun!
Same! This will be my first real dive into Netgalley
Best of luck on your November TBR reads!!!
Thank you 💗 - very excited to get started
For the book that archived, you may just have to wait until it gets published, find it through your library, and read/review it then.
Good idea. I did see on your video that you can go in after the fact and leave feedback, so that was awesome to see that I wasn’t alone and what to do about it.
Haha, I've never seen a puzzle book on NetGalley, but I would say give a little synopsis of the book, rate your enjoyment or talk about things you didn't enjoy, and then thank NetGalley and the publisher :)
Yeah i thought it was weird. But thanks for the tips. Would be interesting to see if they do other puzzle books in the future.
Oh got some goodies in there
Thank you Courtney. I’m excited to get started. Stopping myself from starting now lol
Wow, you have an excellent lineup for November, l can wait to hear about all the books 📚
Im so stoked with my lineup. Some incredibly important reads, some palate cleansers. And focusing solely on NG November. Also, all my reads came from the Read Now section
Stretching prompts/vibes to fit books is part of tricks of the trade! I loved seeing how you did this, and Spooky Library def helped you get into the spooky season! I know you didn't read the mafia book but yikes that sounds interesting (also love the kitty content!!!)
I ended up reading the mafia book this month for SCAREathon, and it was definitely a ride. You forget sometimes that it is a true crime, because it read like fiction some of the time. And then I got to the end of the book and it said what prison he was still in at the time the book was published… then i was like whoa he is an actual human being
Welcome to booktube 📚☕
Thank you so much 😊 - it was a great first year, and i look forward to what the next ones hold.
I am so glad to hear that you found some new favorite songs. Andy from black veil brides is 🥵🥵. I kinda figured that Halloweentown might be a challenge but I think you picked well. I will be adding all three of these books to my never ending tbr! Thanks again for inviting me to do this with you!
Thank you for joining me on the adventure. I can’t wait to see your vlog about it. Im glad of the challenge tbh. It made me look outside the box and the book i chose for Halloween town is one that i want on my physical shelves
Looking forward to hearing what you think about The Haunting of Hill House. It's one of my favorite modern classics. We Have Always Lived in the Castle is also fantastic.
Interesting. Can’t wait to read it
I thought finding 13 letters in the title was going to be hard! That worked out so well!
@@Bookchara it really did. I was so happy
Goodreads for Feed Scroll would've been a better idea for me. I did Instagram and it took me ages to find one 😂
I think i was incredibly lucky there. I didn’t think i was going to find one, especially so quickly.
Looking forward to hearing what you think of House of Leaves. I read it a few years ago and it was much different than I expected. I need to read The Secret History also. Maybe October is the month for that.
Do it! We can be reading buddies. I am randomising my prompts , so I don’t know what prompt i will get first. Otherwise i would say let’s buddy read.
@@ThisKiwi03 let's do it! Let me know when/if the prompt comes up for you and I'll make time.
@@amberleev.9401 done. Perfect. Im so intimidated to read this
Love the recs for the prompts, amazing video 🤗
Thank Ven 🤗 - hope you can join in the fun next month.
Love the video 😊
💛💛
great readathon. I signed up. Happy birthday
Thank you! I can’t wait 😁
sounds like fun good luck
What a great readathon!!! I haven't fully decided what I am doing for October yet but this is 100% on the want to list!
Thank you so much Laura 🥰 - i hope to see you over there. I will be doing a book rec video for some of the prompts as well.
Listen. I want to steal that dog. I was just puppysitting her T.T The 75 playlists I excluded were not JUST heavy metal, they were also some heavy electronic music and stuff that just doesn't link well to books xDDD OF COURSE I SCIENCE THE SHIT OUT OF THINGS!!! Have you met me? xDDD OMG 😱 I didn't even make the connection between Alice and Dowry of Blood! Good pick! Really good pick! Hunger Games is also very good in combination with Giants 👍 Lessons in Chemistry is totally left field, did not see a book like that coming for Still here xDDD Fascinating I'm always fascinated by how different people interpret music differently. It's one of my favorite games to play with my best friend, actually. She has aphantasia and I think in pictures and movie scenes, we both have different forms of synesthesia. We listen to songs together and then tell each other what we see/feel/smell/taste and all the fun stuff. So it's interesting to see how you interpreted the songs (which is part of why I was so excited when you started this series and asked me to be in it xD) KITTY!!!!!!!! Ah yes, men having the audacity to make decisions about the body of women. aaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA (derogatory) Listen. EVERYTHING Steven produces is just soooooooooooo good! Everyone should listen to his music. My current obsession is "The Doctor" and "The Devil wears Lace" 👌 "And he's strangling her. So that's nice." - Jess, 2024 xDDDDD Ah yes. The famous saying "Like a floth to the mame." Who hasn't heard of it xD
😂😂😂😂 Yeah that was an essay. Electronica also isn’t really my jam, and your right, I don’t know how it would fit. That would be a real challenge. This is why i was excited about Read the Beats. The difference in interpretation can lead to some amazing reads that the giver wouldn’t have thought of. Like LiC, but it worked sooo well. I was fully preparing to read an epic fanatsy like House of Earth and Blood or Priory of the Orange Tree. Glad I didn’t 😂 I would be interested to know what you would have picked for them, because you did say you were thinking of specific books. Dowry of Blood literally jumped at me when I saw the cover for Alice, and then i heard it and was like ‘nothing else will work here’ lol. The Kitty you saw there was Neo. River tends to be more camera shy unless i am doing sprints and trying to read 😒 Floth to a mame was too good to cut. I had to keep that. It would not surprise me if it sneaks out again.
@@ThisKiwi03 Well, if you ask me like that... you shall receive: Still here is giving major Epic Fantasy vibes, yes, but specifically the vibes of en epic fight against all odds. So my brain went to the Blackwings trilogy by Ed McDonald, Poppy War by R.F. Kuang, Battle Mage by Peter A. Flannery, stuff like that. Alice is giving Thriller and female rage but also a very specific level of unhingedness. I immediately thought of Gretchen Lowell, a major character from a Chelsea Cain book series. I haven't read it yet, but the Mindf*ck series by S.T. Abby would probably also fit in some way. Giants is, as I described it, some sort of hero telling you that fighting the big baddy is just another tuesday and that they have been here before, they've done it before, you can do it, just don't overthink it. I get the same vibes from the Powder Mage Chronicles by Brian McClellan (specifically Tamas and Taniel, when they get dragged into YET ANOTHER battle. Vlora in Gods of Blood and Powder (the follow up trilogy) hits this specific vibe even more), the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne, and Kingy of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames.
@@Words_from_the_Void 90% of those books I haven’t heard of (🫣) but i will have to look them up. Just thinking about it, A Court of Wings and Ruin (specifically) would probably work well for Giants. Especially the Illyrian soldiers who are not fazed by the epic battle at all. And of course Cass and Az just being like, well we train for this so YOLO
This sounds like so much fun ❤
Thank you Nicole 💕 It’s gonna be so fun
oooooo! This is so exciting! I can't wait! ❤
Thank you so much. I'm so excited
🧡🖤
Not me ACTIVELY contemplating to pick up a BrandoSando for the animosity prompt to get those sweet sweet page count points... curse you, Jess *shakes fist *
Me exactly. I have some chunkers that i’m thinking about. But also, im participating in 2 other October readathons 🤣 Maybe it’ll feel good to get the points and push through 👀🤔
@@ThisKiwi03 There might be one more readathon I wanna do but that one hasn't been announced yet, I think
@@Words_from_the_Void intriguing 🧐
NB: i just realised I gave you the date of the September Full Moon… please wait until October to do this prompt if you are going to do the Camera prompt that way. Use the Time and Date website to find the date for you.
Woohoo!! SCAREathon AND birthday month!! 🎃🎊 I love the variety in these prompts and the bingo graphic is amazing!!
Yay! Thank you 💕 It’s gonna be such a fun month. I can’t wait for the semi-chaos lol
Yaaaaayyy,.... I'm so glad you loved this book Jess... it has become my favourite book I have ever read and I think you summed it up really well that it really is unlike anything else I have read, it is really unique. I so agree about how vivid and wonderful the world building was it was like the world jumped off the page and into my head ! ALSO big love for the cutest interruption in the whole entire world, what a beautiful and majestic creature that is clearly so loving and is so loved in return. I enjoyed this vlog soooo much .......Still can't believe you read it in a day
Yay, thank you Soluunaa 🤗 So glad you enjoyed it. Im glad you found a favourite book as well. I think i will have to reread it at some point, with a more mindful goal. I think i will get even more out of it.
❤❤❤ l want to read this ❤❤❤
Do it! Maybe not in one day. Maybe stretch it out to 2 lol. but definately do it
DOOOOOO IIITTTTTT
My brain would melt if I tried to read a book that big in one day 😂
Veru understandable lol. Mine did melt for a couple of days. But it was fun.
Um... first, I was like: Spring?! Then I remembered you're in the feu-tcha. :P Read all the Klune. I'll be buying all the Klune.
Hello from the feu-tcha!!! I do have a Klune book. Under the Whispering door… And listening to Wolfsong at the moment as well.
I second Koda and recommend Klune!
If I want to go seasonal I do Faeries for Spring! Witchy for Autumn! Vampires for Winter! Summer depends on the weather...so mood reading.
Great tip. I do want to read Emily Wilde. And maybe see if there are any other fae books I wanna pick up. I feel like Acotar is actually perfect. How did I forget that (already read it this year)! I don’t think the rest of the series would fit Spring, but that one would.
I tend to go for pastel cover books during spring to match the vibe but I also enjoy books about plants and plant magic such as This Poison Heart because it just feels right to have plant magic when plants are all coming back to life again!
That's a great point about plants and plant magic. Thanks for the recommendation
So excited to see this video! Thank you for having me on you channel 🩷 I really enjoyed seeing what you did with it and how you used the songs to pick your reads 😊 I’m glad you were able to read such good books for it too. I loved Addie La Rue (I’m sorry it didn’t really do it for you), and The Secret Garden was such a solid read for me. I haven’t read any Gabrielle Zevin, but it’s definitely an author I’m hoping to check out in the future. I loved being involved in this with you, I look forward to (hopefully) many more collaborative things in the future. I’m glad I didn’t give you too much trouble, haha 😂
Haha. You were no trouble at all. Honestly, this was so much fun, and i too can’t wait for more collabs
i love the songs Victoria chose!
They were really good. And great prompts as well. I was very lucky
Thank you so much! I like to think I have good taste 😂
Sure was hectic lol 😂 you did great!
It sounds like you’ve had an amazing first half of your reading year! I read The Diary of a Young Girl this year and found it really impactful. so I’m wondering if I should try the Tattooist of Auschwitz
Personally I would say definitely give it a go. I wouldn’t mind reading Diary of a Young Girl if not this year, then next year. If you like Tatooist of Auschwitz then maybe we can buddy up at some point for Cilkas Journey
@@ThisKiwi03 that is an amazing idea!
❤❤❤
Great video Jess ❤❤ l felt the same way about the song of Achilles...it just fell flat ...how ever l did like Circe by the same author
Thank you Nicole. I may have to keep Circe in mind for later in the year 🤔😉
❤❤❤
Good luck with all your reading and thank you for the support as always! ❤
Of course. Thank you so much for the amazing readathon 🤗
Haunting Adeline did not really do it for me ^^" Way too repetitive imo. I've read worse but I also read better. Read the Beats sounds AMAZING!!! I could give you whole playlists for that stuff xDDD
I may or may not have already put you in my diary for that one… just saying I also am in 2 minds about Haunting Adeline. But I guess that’s the point
