    Tiger's Eye has asbestos in it??? See that's the kind of thing nobody else would have taught me! I'm glad you took precautions, that's scary <3 Are the pits and recesses natural inclusions in the stone or did they chip during the low grit sanding? My thoughts go to some brat-kid spoiled noble who decides to "run away from home and become an adventurer" without a clue what they're actually doing to do. The die is the one thing they take with them from their former life. No class, yet, just trying to figure it out as they go along. Will they become a hero? Who knows?

    • @SageAndNettle
      @SageAndNettle 11 днів тому

      Yup! I was super surprised to find that out too! Glad I did some research before diving in, haha! Yeah, unfortunately all the pits and recesses are natural inclusions in the stone, so there's not much I could do about it. One skill I want to learn is stabilizing a stone with CA glue in a pressure pot. Supposedly that helps a lot with stones that have a lot of natural voids like this. That's a nice seed for an interesting character for sure! It could be some sort of family heirloom that, unbeknownst to the character, carries a heavy magical enchantment. With it missing, they unknowingly become the target of several groups now hunting them down. Could make for an interesting backstory for sure! 😊

    • @pufthemajicdragon
      @pufthemajicdragon 11 днів тому

      @@SageAndNettle Knowing that the inclusions are natural has me thinking it's better if they stay :) Especially when they're small. It's part of the natural character of the stone. IMO, I'd only stabilize if the stone was too soft to withstand regular use or if you had to repair a big chip that there was no way to work around. Heirloom, good catch :)

    This piece turned out very nice. I didn't have "asbestos in a rock" on my bingo card for today, so that's very interesting. Also, good for you to take the proper measures to protect yourself, that stuff can be really nasty with excessive exposure. I had an idea that the different facets having different amounts of light reflecting back could show depth of character, and could potentially be some sort of cleric as shining gold could also be a symbol for faith. But I think your idea fits a little better with this particular stone

    • @SageAndNettle
      @SageAndNettle 11 днів тому

      Thanks so much! Yeah, it was definitely interesting to learn about for sure! Protection is definitely important, even with non-asbestos stones, haha. I actually really like that idea! Taking that and building it into light cleric worshiper of the sun is a super cool character idea! Definitely stealing this for an NPC for one of my campaigns. 😊
