In today’s episode, mistakes were made, lost footage and salvage. Live and learn. Now, giving context to the episode, we made it to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and decided to go water rafting for the first time. Yasi was a nervous wreck, while Chusz was excited for the adventure. The tent has been working out great. Have you not had good experiences with rooftop tents?
@@venwithus well sorta, I get worried because the roof bars have a weight limit, and I understand static vs dynamic loads is a thing, but even the static load isnt high. So for instance, lets say you 2 sleep in there, and your combined weight is 300 pounds (or less) thats 150 pounds more than what toyota says the rack can support. Maybe they are over cautious. Many vendors dont sell a tent specfically for Rav4's, Honda CR-V, because the racks dont seem rugged enough.
@@rmat9023 Your concern is very valid as well as accurate. To remedy this, we do not have the tent on the stock bars it came with. Instead, we have a roof rack, made specifically for the RAV4, attached to the factory holes of the vehicle. I cannot remember the extact numbers but our static load sits somewhere around 700lbs. We have had the roof rack and tent about a year and a half and have experienced no issues. With that said, the cross bars the RAV comes with, cannot hold the ikamper whatsoever. A stronger replacement is a must. Cheers!
@@venwithus So wait, the bars that came on the car, are they in use? Or where they removed? Because at the end of everything, they are weakest link? I mean the bars that run forwards and backwards along the length, front to back?
