If I injured my big toe, do I tape it to the next toe?
what book is that?
thanks for posting this thumbs
What’s the longest duration it could take for the ear to puff up after the direct hits to it? I took some huge hits to my ear one practice and it’s super red and bruised and it bled a couples times and it really hurts to like touch it put pressure on and after about a week I notice only a very slight change in size. Does it take a long time to puff up or does it just take lots of hits
Question, i got a middle toe injury 4 weeks ago. My profesor said it didn't broke but got twisted bad, so i have got better, but some a part of my toe is still swollen my question is after 4 weeks is it normal that my toe is a little bit swollen?
Yes. Swelling would still be present only 4 weeks after a bad soft tissue injury. No worries... yet
@@SPARKPhysiotherapy thanks
مساء الخير كيف حالك الآن هل شفي اصبعك
Congrats!! That is awesome! I am excited to seeing it!!
Is there a link to the product?
whoooa! this is awesome, can't way to see it in person!!
Guys, i got my big toe broken recently, now its quite ok but i still can feel it when i do bad move in sparing(bjj) will it help if i tape it with index toe together or its useless?thanks
If the toe is broken, there's no amount of tape that's going to fix it. That should take 8 or so weeks to fully heal. Now, if you injured the soft tissues, but didn't break the bone... well that's a different story. Keeping it taped to a buddy toe might help but also might not. Hard to tell without seeing the foot right in front of me.
@@SPARKPhysiotherapy thanks lad
I fully ripped it out aye
woah!
NO! I missed it again!! Haha Glad I can watch after the live, great info! See you guys in an hour!
Oh no! I missed the live!!
lol. it was a quick one. i'll catch you up.
dork cringe
Seriously though, if you would've told me that we were going to walk 2-3 miles up and down hills for 2-3 hours I honestly would've thought, "I can't do that". Without knowing though, as I consider you guys as close friends and being better than me, you made me want to keep going and pushing myself wayyy past what I thought I could do. Also being so glad that I got to spend time out with you guys was amazing. I was not once anxious that I wasn't going to make it because I had you guys there. I look forward to the next time. Love you guys
What lol. Thats like working out and then looking forr videos on how to shrink your muscles... cauliflower ear is a badge of honor. Im excited to earn mine one day, and I hope it happens when I deserve to wear one, no earlier
LOL. You do you bud.
Doesn’t mean you’re a good grappler, gonna look like a freak
Awesome!! It was good to get in there today and become better! I’m not sure I’ve had a day that I didn’t want to come there 😆 Everyone is full of energy and positivity, I love it!! See you Monday
What tape?
If you're asking 'which kind of tape', I prefer the Mueller brand cloth athletic tape. It's widely available. If you're asking a different question, let me know. thx!
I love this! Thank you I love cars and trucks and have been around guys that actually worked on them in the past, learned a very little, but would love to help you one day work on your truck : ) Thank you Carlos, I really enjoy coming in there and being pushed to do things that I never would've thought possible!! ~Jeff
Ah man, I missed this one. I was literally just going back in forth with myself about how it is hard for me to be discipled and also being able to relax. I think it is because I don't have a plan! I get a "plan" in my head, but then I get multiple plans and then they clash together, get all tangled up which then makes me anxious and sometimes depressed... then I have to start over, its very frustrating! The few things that I do every week don't take a lot of time which then leads to too much free time to think and overthinking. I am glad that I have been disciplined enough to consistently make into SPARK every week for a year and some months!!! would love to chat with you or one of the other amazingly great people there about this! I trust you guys more than you know! 🙏💪
ABSOLUTELY Brother!! We can help you come up with an executable plan you can crush. When you finish that 'cycle' we can just turn the screws for you. Easy peezy
@@SPARKPhysiotherapy Matt does a great job keeping things interesting, I really enjoy trying new things! We have recently been focusing on deadlifts and he is seeing progress so I’m super excited about that! I was more just talking about life in general, haha. You guys do an amazing job making me better every time I come in there!! 😊🙏🏻💪🏻
Hi Joe, this is off topic but you're the first physio channel I decided to click on. I've started having issues where _after_ I've finished a workout (maybe 20 minutes after), I start to clench my jaw. Even when I try to relax it it wants to close and clench again and the more I try to fight it, the more it tries to close. Is this an actual thing related to working out or do you think it's something different?
Hmmm. Super interesting. 20 minutes is a long time afterward to feel any what you may call "overflow" from intense upper body work. Especially your upper quarter muscles. So, while it's not usual, it may be possible. I'd be curious to know what the rest of your neck and upper quarters look like to know whether we'd be working to facilitate or decrease some activity. Keep in the loop. I'd love to know what makes you feel better and what makes you feel worse over the next few days. Salud!
I will also add that having professionals (you guys) there with me while pushing me to my next level, I know for a fact that if I start to do something incorrectly that you would tell me before I might get injured if I was doing it on my own. I guess what I am saying is having someone with you who knows what good technique looks like is a great thing when pushing your limits! You guys are awesome!
We're here for you, Jeff!
You have to put in the work if you want to get better! Even if whatever you are up against takes a year, if you have a plan and know what you want then the time shouldn't make a difference in whether or not you go for it. Really enjoying these!
I broke my big toe today somehow when a much larger guy shot a double leg on me. The E.R. doc said I couldn't train for at least 6 weeks. This was only my 3rd roll, I don't want to stop going to class or have to sit on the sidelines for 6 weeks. Is there anyway I can tape/stabalize it so I can at least still drill and light spar? As I understand it, healing will occur as long as the great toe joint is isolated from any articulation? Tia
Yeah, but that's a tough one to stabilize on the mat. Take the rest. Let the bone heal. That time will go by quick. Sorry.
I don't play baseball, though I have always enjoyed throwing a ball or just playing catch! Very interesting though, I even got some things out of this as I am trying to become the best version of myself, and you guys are helping with that tremendously!! I learn something new every time I come in there!! 🙂💪
thanks, maybe one day i'll be able to use this info but it was very interesting to learn.
Thanks. :)
I threw someone and their knee smashed into my big toe it has some bruising for 5 days or so. It's been 3 months and it's still not better. Any ideas? Will taping help. I had a roll last night and it got extended back and it hurt really really bad, had to tap to it lol😅
Pretty same I would like to know
Hmmm. Sorry I missed this one. Can't say if injured your foot or your ankle with that info. It's possible you had a bone injury there at that time and the healing was delayed... couple other possibilities. How does it feel now?
Ed, you are an amazing person! 80 years old and working out like a youngster! No excuses for being "too old" to feel good here! I hope to see you around SPARK one of these days! Great job SPARK team!
This is amazing! Great job Josh and the SPARK team! What an inspiring story and person!!
Do u recommend carrying a syringe in case of the incident ?
LOL. not really. But maybe keep some sterile ones you are familiar with at home just in case.
That's legit right there!
Great video. This is my favourite taping method! I've dealt with an injury to this area for the last 6-7weeks and following advice elsewhere online I didn't wrap it after the first few days as I had 99% range of motion. I focused on stretches and strengthening but it's still giving me an issue. Can't train much with it at all and feel like I could be making things worse. Will this tape help it heal even this late on? UK doctors have been rubbish for this. They just said take painkillers and rest it for 1-3months but it shows no signs of getting better.
i completely cut my pinky toe all around causing a pool of blood, waiting on it to heal:/ any tips?
Wtf lol
When I fully extend my arm where my thumb is up, somewhere below my internal medial hurts. I had this when I got an armbar. Could you please give me some advice on how to treat this?
Thanks for the video. When I first got into BJJ, I broke a pinky toe on my second day. Just started again after a year, today was my second day back, and I sprained my big toe 🙃
you’re going way too hard. you have to slow down your rolls
I just broke my pinky toe after my fourth class. I'm kinda worried. Did it took a year for your pinky toes to heal?
Yeah. toe injuries aren't that common. I'd slow down a bit and if a digit is painful, tape it to a buddy finger to keep loads manageable
I have pain in that same middle toe when i walk.Only one foot, if it's shoes problem it would be on the other foot pain probably. Don't know why, it's not swollen or changed color. just hurt when walking. I can move toe too. Will help this. If I go to the doctor they will say I came because of nothing. Our health sistem is very bad.
I was just in an Americana looking for some input and I will be booking a pt appointment but I want to work on the pain. I have medial elbow pain from the submission.
Book your PT appointment, then get to work. Make sure you're going to get the one-on-one attention you will need to get back to full strength. Waiting to be out of pain before going to a good PT is like hoping the check engine light just turns off... and then you take it to the mechanic... Good luck
Thank you for the post. Would you recommend any Theraband flexbar exercise for strength/recovery?
If you've got one then great. If you don't and think you need one that's fine too. But there are plenty of ways to strengthen in these ranges without any fancy toys. Have fun with it. Oss.
Bro you’re the goat.
Can hypertension of elbows cause golfer's elbow? I have a bad elbow due to an injury that happened 2 months ago and it kinda feels like a golfer's elbow the symptoms feels very similar
Yes. Hyperextension can cause pain on either side of your elbow. It really depends on the exact direction of the force when your elbow was being cranked on. Healing should depend on how long the force was on and the speed it came on at. Hope that makes sense. Oss.
I can't fully extend my arm back, between my upper inner forearm and lower bicep. So much pain when I try to extend it back it even shakes a bit. It's no my elbow,l...I know thay
Sounds like a medial elbow strain of some kind. Not all injuries are joint injuries. In fact, most are soft tissue injuries that effect the surrounding joints. Either of these mobilizations should be helpful as long as they are dosed correctly; that is, don't go too hard too early. Hope that helps.
Great stuff! How many reps would you recommend?
The exact number of reps isn't that important. We should use these techniques until we feel mobility has returned or improved (even a little). If you do either of these approaches in this video, AND this is the correct contextual move for your immobility, then you should feel a lot better after 30-60 seconds of this mobilization. Easy peezy. Any more questions? Holler back and book a virtual visit to make sure you get the info YOU need.
Best performance of all time!
She's a baller!
Caught myself in a vehicular accident a week ago. Left elbow and hand still swelling. Improved its range of motion from close to straight to 45 degrees bent. It hurts a bit. Will it still go back to its normal range? Doctor dis not mention about hyperextension
This doesn't sound like a BJJ injury. I'd seek medical attention immediately. Holler if you need some manual PT. We're in Alexandria, VA if/when you need some help.
Last Friday I kicked off the Matt during a scrapple and idk if I ripped or sprained the muscle in my pinky toe. But thank you cause this helped 🙏🏻
Did you have swelling ,? I did thr ssme and next day its super red.
Is there a link.. White belt here and just experienced my first train from my coach lol and this sucks the way my ear feels hot, soft, and tender not to mention all puffed up looking.
I have a weird injury of tripping over both my middle toes as its bigger than my big toe when sparring in kickboxing, is there anything I can do to prevent this?
Will cauliflower ear hurt after it hardens
Nah it don’t hurt
Long story short, I recently had to tape two of my toes together, the ones right next to the big toe. I almost immediately felt that I was irritating my big toe in that entire area. It wasn't long before there was all kinds of problems with that. Then that's subsided and now I am having trouble with other part of my foot, I just know it is from overcompensating, etc. Any thoughts on this? Is this common?
I can't say if what you're feeling is common. When we take loads off of one side of our foot, it's for sure going to ask for more work from the other side. If buddy taping was the fix for the issue you had first, then you may have just used that for a bit too long. I'd suggest taking a peak at our foot control programs on the bjj-physio.com website. Get to work on your foot and hip control to unload the parts of your lower extremity that need a break. If you need more help, I'd be happy to set up a virtual visit with you to discuss. You can sign up for your VV via our site (www.bjj-physio.com) or on our IG BIO (@bjjphysio). Let us know! Oss.
@@TheBJJPhysio thank you!
My partner went too hard on an arm bar and my elbow popped a little bit. It didn’t hurt at the time so I kept rolling but now, 12 hours later, my elbow feels extremely stiff and moving it hurts. What should I do?
That's not too uncommon. I'd first get into your training partner's ear about that but that's another conversation. If you were able to keep sparring without too much pain, then your injury is likely less severe than a complete tear of any structures. So that's good. I'd fully expect you to have pain or stiffness for a few days after that kind of trauma though. Check out www.bjj-physio.com to find our elbow extension programming. That will guide you all the way back to full pain free sparring. Also, if you've got other questions about those programs or would like to speak through your pain with ME, be sure to book a virtual visit! You can do that from our IG bio or from the BJJ Physio website (www.bjj-physio.com). Oss!
