    What’s the longest duration it could take for the ear to puff up after the direct hits to it? I took some huge hits to my ear one practice and it’s super red and bruised and it bled a couples times and it really hurts to like touch it put pressure on and after about a week I notice only a very slight change in size. Does it take a long time to puff up or does it just take lots of hits

    Question, i got a middle toe injury 4 weeks ago. My profesor said it didn't broke but got twisted bad, so i have got better, but some a part of my toe is still swollen my question is after 4 weeks is it normal that my toe is a little bit swollen?

    • @SPARKPhysiotherapy
      @SPARKPhysiotherapy 9 місяців тому

      If the toe is broken, there's no amount of tape that's going to fix it. That should take 8 or so weeks to fully heal. Now, if you injured the soft tissues, but didn't break the bone... well that's a different story. Keeping it taped to a buddy toe might help but also might not. Hard to tell without seeing the foot right in front of me.

    Ah man, I missed this one. I was literally just going back in forth with myself about how it is hard for me to be discipled and also being able to relax. I think it is because I don't have a plan! I get a "plan" in my head, but then I get multiple plans and then they clash together, get all tangled up which then makes me anxious and sometimes depressed... then I have to start over, its very frustrating! The few things that I do every week don't take a lot of time which then leads to too much free time to think and overthinking. I am glad that I have been disciplined enough to consistently make into SPARK every week for a year and some months!!! would love to chat with you or one of the other amazingly great people there about this! Hi Joe, this is off topic but you're the first physio channel I decided to click on. I've started having issues where _after_ I've finished a workout (maybe 20 minutes after), I start to clench my jaw. Even when I try to relax it it wants to close and clench again and the more I try to fight it, the more it tries to close. Is this an actual thing related to working out or do you think it's something different?

    • @SPARKPhysiotherapy
      @SPARKPhysiotherapy Рік тому

      Hmmm. Super interesting. 20 minutes is a long time afterward to feel any what you may call "overflow" from intense upper body work. Especially your upper quarter muscles. So, while it's not usual, it may be possible. I'd be curious to know what the rest of your neck and upper quarters look like to know whether we'd be working to facilitate or decrease some activity. Keep in the loop. I'd love to know what makes you feel better and what makes you feel worse over the next few days. Salud!

    I will also add that having professionals (you guys) there with me while pushing me to my next level, I know for a fact that if I start to do something incorrectly that you would tell me before I might get injured if I was doing it on my own. You have to put in the work if you want to get better! Even if whatever you are up against takes a year, if you have a plan and know what you want then the time shouldn't make a difference in whether or not you go for it. Really enjoying these!

    I broke my big toe today somehow when a much larger guy shot a double leg on me. The E.R. doc said I couldn't train for at least 6 weeks. This was only my 3rd roll, I don't want to stop going to class or have to sit on the sidelines for 6 weeks. Is there anyway I can tape/stabalize it so I can at least still drill and light spar? As I understand it, healing will occur as long as the great toe joint is isolated from any articulation? Tia

    Great video. This is my favourite taping method! I've dealt with an injury to this area for the last 6-7weeks and following advice elsewhere online I didn't wrap it after the first few days as I had 99% range of motion. I focused on stretches and strengthening but it's still giving me an issue. Can't train much with it at all and feel like I could be making things worse. Will this tape help it heal even this late on? UK doctors have been rubbish for this. They just said take painkillers and rest it for 1-3months but it shows no signs of getting better.

    • @TheBJJPhysio
      @TheBJJPhysio Рік тому

      Yes. Hyperextension can cause pain on either side of your elbow. It really depends on the exact direction of the force when your elbow was being cranked on. Healing should depend on how long the force was on and the speed it came on at. Hope that makes sense. Oss.

    • @TheBJJPhysio
      @TheBJJPhysio Рік тому

      Sounds like a medial elbow strain of some kind. Not all injuries are joint injuries. In fact, most are soft tissue injuries that effect the surrounding joints. Either of these mobilizations should be helpful as long as they are dosed correctly; that is, don't go too hard too early. Hope that helps.

    Great stuff! How many reps would you recommend?

    • @TheBJJPhysio
      @TheBJJPhysio Рік тому

      The exact number of reps isn't that important. We should use these techniques until we feel mobility has returned or improved (even a little). If you do either of these approaches in this video, AND this is the correct contextual move for your immobility, then you should feel a lot better after 30-60 seconds of this mobilization. Easy peezy. Any more questions? Holler back and book a virtual visit to make sure you get the info YOU need.

    Long story short, I recently had to tape two of my toes together, the ones right next to the big toe. I almost immediately felt that I was irritating my big toe in that entire area. It wasn't long before there was all kinds of problems with that. Then that's subsided and now I am having trouble with other part of my foot, I just know it is from overcompensating, etc. Any thoughts on this? Is this common?

    • @TheBJJPhysio
      @TheBJJPhysio 2 роки тому

      I can't say if what you're feeling is common. When we take loads off of one side of our foot, it's for sure going to ask for more work from the other side. If buddy taping was the fix for the issue you had first, then you may have just used that for a bit too long. I'd suggest taking a peak at our foot control programs on the bjj-physio.com website. Get to work on your foot and hip control to unload the parts of your lower extremity that need a break. If you need more help, I'd be happy to set up a virtual visit with you to discuss. • @TheBJJPhysio
      @TheBJJPhysio 2 роки тому

      That's not too uncommon. I'd first get into your training partner's ear about that but that's another conversation. If you were able to keep sparring without too much pain, then your injury is likely less severe than a complete tear of any structures. So that's good. I'd fully expect you to have pain or stiffness for a few days after that kind of trauma though. Check out www.bjj-physio.com to find our elbow extension programming. That will guide you all the way back to full pain free sparring. Also, if you've got other questions about those programs or would like to speak through your pain with ME, be sure to book a virtual visit!
