We Rode From AZ to Palm Springs On Rented Road Glides

My friend Jordan and I did our annual trip to my place in Arizona and rented a few Harley Davidson Road Glides for a couple days. It was 650 Miles round trip and we got caught in one of the hottest Septembers on record! We had to leave at 4:30 am to beat some of the heat as it was 44 degrees(112F) during the day on open road and desert! Overall it was an epic adventure and I look forward to the...

Welcome back to another build series at Martin James Designs! In this series I am customizing a 2006 Harley Davidson sportster for a local client. We found him a great bike with low kms and lots of good parts to work with. The plan is to turn this into a bobber with drag bars and a bunch of upgraded and customized parts, new paint, new powder coat and some unique features. Thanks to our friends...

Motivation saludos desde Argentina muy buenos videos
Great setup
what the filter name and model ?
Looking Great! Who made those bars??
@@chriswiggins5299 thanks! They are frisco bars. Super basic. A bunch of people make them. I can’t remember where these came from
meh. stock looks better imo
Dig it! Just finished one myself. I'm starting with a frame for my winter build. Keep them coming !
@@ericrush7532 awesome man thanks for watching! Winter builds are the best!
Bro what are the riding seasons in Canada ?
@@vishnuskumar5387 hey dude! Well it’s basically over now. Cold, rain and the roads will start to be salted and sanded soon. I’m sure there is the odd day we can put a day permit on. Weather starts to be rideable in March. We use those times to get our bikes upgraded lol
Great looking setup, nice job. Additionally you can think about closing the booth while not using it to prevent contamination of powder when you start moving air inside. And please get yourself a decent mask even when you have good filtering system. Powder particles are tiny and you don’t want them in your lungs ;)
Have you had any issues with the fans in the booth not being explosion proof?
@@AG_1HUNNID hey man! No I haven’t. I blow the fans out and replace the filters after every project. I have never had a problem at all. 3 years and still working great
Bro.. you’re the real deal. Love the video edits and quality
@@Bobbaabuilda thanks man!!! I definetly put a lot into it. Not many people see the channel
Amazing my guy!! Keep them coming!!! ML&R from Texas 🤘!!
Thanks man these videos take forever to edit lol
Lol yea they do just wanted to say you do amazing work I've been following you since the black sheep bike which came out beautiful by the way. Stay safe 🙏✌️
@@lildee432 man thanks so much for coming back! I put a ton of effort into this because I love doing it so it makes it worth it when I hear people enjoy it. Enjoy your riding weather! We get rain and snow till next year! 😂
Siiiick !!!
Not riding for the slide is not good
@@shaunbailey8964 what do you mean?
He means you should be wearing more gear
@@michaelbillstrom170 yeah in a state that has no helmet laws that makes sense
Why are you squatting in the thumbnail? Are you making a rap album cover?
@@mattf8595 were ducking from the sun obviously. Were Canadian
Nice ride!
Man, that ride looked like fun! I definitely want to try that one day! See you soon bud!
Great run mate. Bikes looked awesome. Really enjoy your videos but I have one point to make and that is the music can be so overpowering whether it's in your build videos or this riding video. Been a great choice of tunes though. I'm not sure about how editing is done myself but a few decibels down would be good. Keep up the great work mate
@@TheBear351 man thank you so much for the feedback!!! It’s been one of the things I’ve had on my mind when editing. I’m gonna look at that moving forward. Is the way the build episodes a good balance as far as music and me talking? I haven’t really changed the structure since I started making videos
@martinjamesdesigns3748 Personally I'd rather more commentary but the music is good in where you have it. For me it's the volume. Structure of the videos is great mate I don't think there's much to change. You do an awesome job
Cool vid, Kodi! I've made that ride from AZ to CA a few times, and I can tell you it's best during the latter part of the year when the temps aren't triple digits. Looking forward to your next build and thanks for posting!
@@Mongoskavich thanks! Lesson learned… were from a small town in Canada so booking the trip was well in advance…. Us Canadians don’t do well in that heat! 😂. Thanks for tuning into my vids and safe riding brother ✊🏻😎
Dang, you are way too organized! Fantastic video, thanks
Sensacional!
Curious why you don’t prime the Metal first? Does it hold up?
@@heily-3806 I’ve never primed before powder coating. I’ve watched countless videos before I started powder coating and don’t recall seeing many priming parts. Id like to know more about it though. I’ve never had any issues without priming the parts. I will have to look into it more!
OCD is a super power! Love your shop!
@@edwardlucas8333 omg your so right. Being organized makes the process so much better. Thanks man
I LOVE THAT BIKE. AWESOME FIND
You can see an AMF pos a mile away
How much does that work cost?
@@WhyTFUSoSiriusI’m not sure. I built it for my brother
@@martinjamesdesigns3748 I have a Dyna street Bob I want the same work done to, just trying to figure out the costs
@@martinjamesdesigns3748 terrific work btw 🫡
Американский колхоз) Пожалуй, худшее из того, что можно сделать с харлеем. Мотоциклы это не твоё. P.S. Ось с другой стороны вставляется, тогда и помощник не нужен.
@@Миша4741 I wish I could read this!
I have a buddy that had a Harley Davidson dirt bike. I was thinking it was a 125cc but I could be wrong. It was blue and white.
@@scottwages517 nice! I read probably either a 175 or 250 I believe. I’m still learning about the history of the AMF years
A Harley dirt bike. They didn't make too many
@@iccus62 from my research it was 12,000 from 74-78
@martinjamesdesigns3748 nice find. You going to sell or keep it?
@@martinjamesdesigns3748 a friend had one. It wasn't competitive with the jap bikes but still fun to ride ..like any bike
Where was it made? and by who, I think the only HD part on it is the name.
@@willielongbotham7156 can you explain what you mean? It’s the AMF years of Harley Davidson. It is indeed a Harley
if you don't mind me asking where is the headlight from or the brand name
@@Jason.Collis yeah no problem! It was off of Amazon. It’s an off road jeep style after market headlight. The bracket will not work though. It has to be custom fabricated if it’s going on a sportster. Might fit a wider front end without modification
@@martinjamesdesigns3748 thanks man i'll have a look

@@benodie02760 thanks! I tried… already into the next one. This next one is gonna be my favorite!
This channel needs more attention, nice work, great explanation, not super long! Keep it going!
@@Johnnykefa thanks for the feedback! Definetly a slow growing channel but I’m doing it because I enjoy it. 🙏

Hey Kodi, who is Martin James? I could only find people that probably had nothing to do with you so I keep thinking who is he or is Martin and James maybe your kids? Just wondering 👍
@@johnnyquid3350 I figured that question was gonna come one day! It’s my 2 middle names. They sound more sophisticated. Like I know what I’m doing but I actually don’t 😂😂😂
@@martinjamesdesigns3748 Haha
Rear fender/signal mount is clean, nice details 👌
@@RB-HD-88 thanks Roger!
Outlaw build looks like a success very creative Kodi, paint looks great also.
Everything looks killer 👍 One thing I noticed is you tend to touch things with your bare hands right before painting and powdercoating lolo 😬 gets me every time 🤷♂️
