Man, i grew up with the first Riders and NFS Most Wanted, those are the reason why i love racing games so bad. It was a bless for me to see this video on my feed for no reason, loved your content man, god bless your soul for bringing such nice memories of playing when i was a kid 🙏

Very good video, and hit me right in the nostalgia. I did want to note two things about Zero Gravity though. 1. Understandably the unique type abilities are the most fun part of the gear changes because they actually make a difference to the way you play, but it would have been worth talking about the other gear changes too even if most of them are generic stat-ups. Also not that it's too important but some mention of 'skates', 'yachts' and 'wheels' as alternatives for grind, fly and bike/power would have shone a light on the subtle depth to the game (they all have small quirks to them, such as the wheel getting the cartoony hop-stop-boost as an option for cornering instead of gravity control because it uses GC less efficiently). 2. Though you can't specifically select which tricks to do while you are in the air, there was still some amount of control; you just press a direction on the D-pad as you're jumping. IIRC in order to even be eligible for X rank tricks you need to press a direction that hasn't been used in the past three tricks before that (which sounds simple, "duh I'll just go clockwise" but remember not all jumps are at the end of a straight so sometimes you'll be needing to steer at the same time). Also I don't know if I'm about to look at good news or clickbait but because of this video I've got another video in my recommended about 'Sonic Riders Tournament' from two weeks ago so let's hope the series is back. [Never mind, it was about a mod.]

tbh abandon sonic riders and sonic racing games and just make sonic R 2 but with modern stuff instead of racing all the chars run and each map can be set to a different diffculty and speed imagine running racing game modernized running at break neck speeds like if it was irl sonic vs shadow running if u got the feelings of the wind resistanc and everything for the game i would prefer that

As someone who actually still plays the OG every once in a while on emulators, the series was unfortunately ruined for me with Zero Gravity alone. It had more interesting map design, but just about everything else I didn't really fw. I hate the design shift from flat boards to the weird looking bulbous ones in ZG. Wasn't a fan of the gravity rush mechanic or gravity replacing regular drifting for turns, but gravity for unique routes was cool. Above all else though, is the fact that tricks are done automatically based on your jump input timing. My literal favorite part of the OG game as a kid was doing the tricks myself.

I have a soft spot for Zero G. It's the only one of the series I played, but I can still hear Blaze's "I'm sorry" whenever she passes someone. IT was such a fun time since it was like the only multiplayer game I had access to whenever I visited my extended family, and I bonded with my cousin mainly due to that game. Maybe one day I'll have to emulate it and play it again to see it without the nostalgia filter. edit: Also the OST for ZG was PEAK back then, still makes me bop even now.

Few things to note: - I forgot WHERE i read this. in fact, i think its actually not written down......but when riding Turbulence and you're at one of the sides/edges of it... _PRESS THE A BUTTON TO SPIN AND GO IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION._ without it, riding turbulence......you just press into the sides and there are times the game doesnt push you into it to jump, leaving you to decide on your own whether to keep trying that side or just fat finger your way to the other side. Using the button however.....you move back and forth quickly.....efficiently.....and by the 3rd.....you've built up enough speed to do jumps. - My friend and i talk about this game every now and then. hes a huge sonic fan. I am just an enjoyer. But one thing i noticed out of all the games hes played and told me about......barely..... IF AT ALL ...... has ANYONE pissed off Sonic. Even when Eggman threatens his friends, he's always remained upbeat and quippy. JET...? JET achieved the one thing barely anyone in any memory ever achieved. and thats ACTIVELY PISSING HIM THE FK OFF. Like, lil bro was ACTUALLY MALDING anytime he talked shit. thinking about it.......its probably because Sonic is speed. Thats half his whole personality. So to have someone come and shake the very foundation for something that is half his entire soul and existence and he takes 6,000% pride in.....we might have seen another side of him if he wasnt able to pull off a win against him.

The running mechanic was boss. I would make my rider run on purpose just because it looked too frickin cool 😅.

I just can’t believe how much they missed the mark with the designs of the hoverboards in Zero Gravity compared to the first game, like why are they riding around on briefcase hot dogs

Just watching this vid brung back so many memories and also if using the Wii remote you can control the moves you do in the air using the d pad ex: down on d pad you will do a back flip or up on the d pad you will do a front flip etc not sure if people knew this. Maybe it’s because I didn’t play the original is why I like zero gravity so much but personally I like everything about the game. One of the only things I wish they would’ve added is being able to run on feet like at the start of the race maybe it’s just me but I would’ve like to see that

the only thing i do hate on sonic zero gravity is the fucking boards, man they turned them into ALMOST small carts, bro nothing makes the dripp of a "LongBoard" hovering extreme gear from the first game, I really think they fucked up on this one.

I’ve never played sonic riders but I had zero gravity on the Wii I got it for Christmas and it’s still one of my favorite games I ever played it was just so immersive on the Wii the soundtrack the maps the colors it was like everything was perfect

I miss Sonic Riders man. I miss it. the first one was the good stuff. Yeah, the tutorial wasn't even on the main menu, it should have been there. i legit finished BOTH stories and almost every Heroside missions before i knew how to grind those damn rails. 55:34 Knuckles always was able to fly. although they limit it to Gliding in most games. he can actually fly. i don't remember if any explanation was given, i just assume he was born with it or Master Emerald Exposure gave him that ability, same for the spikes on his hands. The tracks on Zero Gravity are way too basic IMO

Sonic Riders and the All Stars games (NOT YOU TSR or FREE RIDERS) are peak Sonic racing. Sonic Riders for fairly obvious reasons And the All Stars games for not only bringing Sega characters together but also being a blast to play even if it’s just Sonic in a car. I’d argue those games are better than most Mario Kart games. Please let Cross Worlds be good. PLEASE-

honestly i wish free riders didnt ruin the riders format because it truly was a great story telling racing game and with the recent idw introduction of ex gears I hope that somewhere down the line we get another riders game and more story with the babalon rouges

For the record sonic all stars racing and sonic racing transformed were both fire games in all actuality. The third one is trash but yea i would love a sonic riders sequel

Dope video bro. Sonic riders zero gravity was one of the first games I got for my Wii. Me and my cousin would grind the game to unlock all the characters and extreme gears from the store. Man this series could've did so good if they just gave it a chance. I love that Sonic mentions Jet in Frontiers, and I hope they at least do something with those characters in future games story line. I also wish they kept doing the story book games like secret rings and black knight. I always thought it was interesting seeing Sonic in different worlds based on old and iconic stories.
