G.I.s honor Rita Hayworth during a ceremony in Washington, June 11, 1945
"In an overseas poll American GIs recently conferred the title of “No.1 Back Home Glamour Girl” on Rita Hayworth. At a presentation ceremony at Walter Reed Hospital, which Miss Hayworth attended, Pvt. Martin Leeds of the Bronx made a speech and awarded her a GI “Oscar” because her “sheer loveliness and her willingness to share that loveliness through the medium of the screen with millions of warsick and lonely GIs has contributed immeasurably to the morale of the fighting men."Accepting the award, Miss Hayworth stepped up and kissed Private Leeds. Later in her lavish Hollywood home she posed for a new picture which fully confirmed the GI verdict."

Nah he was just being weird with those questions. You don’t ask women that kind of stuff it’s rude. Even if she’s famous. Love the “for two good reasons” then shock on her face that she said it 😂
Are u kidding with that watermark?
He validates my feeling while watching them on screen and even in still photos. They belong together!
People here in these comments seem to defentd her like she was accused for being sick and they have to preserve her reputation.... But lets face it, she had Alzheimers in 1976. And there is nothing to be ashamed of, even if there might be some signs here of that desiase in early stage.
The watermark RUINS this footage!!! Can't even see Rita's facial expressions. Thanks a lot, ITN. 😡😤
Living Doll
Shame on the incredible idiot interviewer!
She was fine! She answered properly and with humor!
M/S Hayworth was lovely, and a great sense 🎉of humour. R.I.P. much-missed, dear lady. ❤❤❤❤. Xxxxx.
I need to see the whole interview 😩😩
These actors are great but do you know who is greater? Jesus. He is selfless and loving. He died for everyone's sins, past, present, and future. Be careful when watching these films. We mustn't make these people our idols. Exodus 20:3-5 says "You must not have any other god but me. You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens on earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods." Not only that, but the end times are here. 2 Timothy 4:1-5 states "You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. People will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!" This is merely to inform people, not to attack them. God bless.
He was an extreme womanizer I believe addicted to women and sex. I don’t know much about him but I was watching him on the game show tattle tales with his then wife second or third? I know everyone’s got problems but I just think it’s ironic how some people get judged for doing things In their life and other people don’t and people almost praise them. Their was an ironic ? On tattletales asking if a man can still be in love with a woman if he cheats on her. The irony was palpable
Creepy interviewer. He had no idea who this woman is. When she told him " don't touch me," he still didn't get it.
What a creep that interviewer is .
I think she was sharp and witty. dumb questions.. she handled it perfectly.
She was 59 here and looked 80 all those years of heavy drinking and heavy smoking took its toll
What an idiotic bunch of statements and questions from him.
this demonstrates how inane the interviewing of women was in this era. Rita was already suffering from AD, as the people that knew her best described later to Barbara Leaming. It is shame to see her go through this. Of course, we understand and know far more now but she deserved better.
She seemed terribly confused to me. And horrified at the same time. Poor thing.
Oh dear! Imagine having the chance to interview such a legendary woman and you ask all these obnoxiously stupid questions.
Who is this interviewer?? He is creepy🤢
So-called "Rita Hayworth" wasn't even her real name. She was born Margarita Carmen Cansino. Anyone that sells out their birth name to "Hollywood", by changing it, is deceitful & disrespectful to their parents.
Sex maniac Prince Aly Khan ruined Rita Hayworth just like Marlon Brando ruined Anna Kashfi from any sort of normal life .
I met him in california
what was he like?
Two good reasons it stayed up.😂 That was a good one.
She died in 1987 not 1988.
I saw this full interview some years ago, I do wish that they would repeat it or put it all online,
Ouh la la !
❤
Mi querida preciosa y bellisima MIss Rita Hayworth / Margarita Cansino . Que dios la tenga en su Gloria 🙏❤🌹
Another Hollywood deception. Her real birth name was Margarita Carmen Cansino
There's no problem with this interview
I can’t believe people accused her of being confused. This interviewer is asking the dumbest questions ever asked.
Wow, he was awful. She’s not confused at all, his questioning and his innuendos and accusations were out of line. She politely giggled his questions off, she should have excused herself. RIP ❤
The fact that viewers had to endure 3 HUGE letters across the screen is in the poorest of bad taste. Shame on you. 😡😠
Хубава. Жена.
What stupid questions
Yall were friends alright...
😉
Rita and G lenn are something I really want to hear about !
Lol " my very good friend ". I bet.
How off is this guy
He says let me just put it discreetly I don't know if it was too discreet we had a fair with her for many years
I think her answers were just trying to avoid the uncomfortable questions don't think she really liked being put that high up on a pedestal
Rita was the only one Gene Kelley said he would ever dance with in another picture! Her talent was superb! The dress made for her in this movie was par excellence! No one could dance the way Rita could wearing the most sexist dress made in Hollywood History! And I always like Glenn Ford after Gilda, up until his last film. Nice guy, and he and Rita became great friends!
Why is your stupid logo blocking the screen?
Lovely Rita was very modest. She claimed she wasn't Gilda but "me."
This guy is creepy. No wonder she’s speechless (that along with the Alzheimer’s).
Nothing to do with Alzheimer's.... The guy was a jerk, so she was nervous and uncomfortable.
Goodness - those questions don’t even make sense so even if she had Alzheimer’s here, she answered well and with humour. I remember the day she died. I was a big old movie fan since I was a kid, and that day I was in NYC on a class photography trip. A lot of adventures got packed into one weekend.
Russell was a good interviewer and a clever man, but he should’ve realised and changed the angle of question when he was getting the certain answers back Michael Parkinson would’ve stepped up in a similar case
Russell Harty was a swine -- no wonder Rita Hayworth wouldn't dignify his sexual harassment. How did he think the costumes remained in place. Did he ever ask a man how his genitals were kept in place?
