As a fellow Gen-Xer, I totally agree with you. The Millennials and Gen Zs weren't born yet to hear the previous generations railing against unfair employers. As a kid, I remember the saying, "Take this job and sh*ve it back in the 1970's. I also remember the tv show, "Alice", when one of the actresses use to say to her boss, "Mel, kiss my grits!" My elders told me that they wanted to leave their jobs but didn't leave, because they had to feed kids, pay the mortgage, and wanted to make sure we had health and life insurance. And what is missing from the quitting jobs social media conversations is that if an individual has not worked a certain number of quarters or length of time (I think it is at least 10 years), that individual will not be eligible to get Social Security and Medicare benefits when the time comes. That could be catastrophic financially for an older person. Nevertheless, I agree that people need to have a plan.

I love your honesty. I had a "plan" but as luck and the way the economy has gone, I'm now living the nomadic life. Ive worked the full time life and even tried to go back when my plan didnt work out Im a GenX who had Boomer parents. They worked to survive and the exhaution on their faces screamed "this aint it" So yes we all think it because how is a life of working more than living the goal? We need money to sustain but everything else is depleted. Self worth, physical, emotional, mental, etc. Its the trade off to maintain basic needs which is insane. But we do it because...well you know the rest🌻

Agreed. What good does it do us to say it, if we still have to do it? Imh, that's wasted energy. The other alternative would probably be to live a more " simplistic," lifestyle that would only require the husband 😊, to work a full time job.

Oh my! You are so correct! Management isn't for everyone. This conversation gave me call center flashbacks from my 20's. I became a supervisor and thankfully eventually found my path out of that field. We need the details on your jean dress, its a perfect fall look. ❤

Concern over ageism, easily being replaced, taking care of ourselves and other family members are some reasons for staying. Some are blessed to move on, but not everyone has the circumstances. These same people will eventually experience the same things; but until they, do they continue to be toxic, even then maybe becoming more toxic (misery loves company)! We live in a world described at 2 Timothy 3:1-5. I pray to Jehovah, my God, for help constantly!!!

She should file for disability. They don’t care! Working on labor & delivery, I was constantly attacked by patients and their family members. The charge nurse, male doctors and other staff members either disappeared or stared and did nothing. I was left to fend for myself most of the time. You are just a number in those places and can be easily replaced. I saw many coworkers passed away and they were replaced like nothing. It is truly sad! I feel for this lady. I wish her nothing but healing, health, peace and happiness.

Millennial here, my experience is that the employee with the most integrity is locked in their role as a reliable foundation, while those who are promoted don’t know as much as they should. The facade is that the higher your position the more knowledgeable and capable you are, but too often that’s not the case. They string us along with that false narrative as the requirement to grow when all it does is exploit naive and eager employees for their productivity. The real story is that career growth is a popularity contest. I made the decision to go to HR for two separate instances, harassment from a manager and biased hiring practices. Feedback was given to the managers involved in both situations, but they’ve retained me in the same role. I’ve accepted that I’ve hit my ceiling and can’t break it, no room to grow so it’s time for me to go. I’m actively looking for a new job and until that happens I meditate and do lots of deep breathing and venting to my husband and my journal. Thanks for posting

You look fabulous! I worked a executive job for 15 years, great pay and benefits. The last five years there was a takeover and I was constantly reminded that I was not a part of the new crew. Due to my stellar work performance they had no grounds to immediately release me.... when it happened I didn't get the severance I deserved and I lived off my savings for 6 months taking a job making 60k less so I could at least have health insurance....Fast forwarded to a change of 5 jobs, I'm finally at a place that I love. I work from home, no stress..... less money but I monetize peace and self care! I have other things in motion so I'm busy but I'm confident you and the sista hood group here will find a good landing if they haven't already!. Please keep the content coming.

Lovely outfits

Me and thousands of other employees were laid off from a major health care company back in January. Because of a big DEI campaign our positions were backfilled with cheap offshore Indian labor. Not Americans of color mind you....DEI is definitely hurting Af Am women.

I have never been discriminated at work because of my natural hair. And looking at your hair I can’t fathom that for you. I worked for several YT c level execs who all complimented my natural fro. If anything I felt more out of place with weaves and wigs. Unfortunately, in the U.S. BW ourselves have ruined DEI initiatives. So many women who had really high positions and chose greed impacted the entire group of women. It’s really sad but hopefully America can focus on skillset versus skin color.

Now, people will get into colleges and jobs based on their merit and not based on their color or if your hair is curly or straight. Just my opinion.

Not at my job. There are many married couples and my company doesn’t mind. They actually tell us if we decide to date some one who has a superior position to us in the same unit, we would just switch teams or units so it won’t be a power differential issue.

I need you to speak at my jobs next townhall because there are at least 7 married couples here 🤣 I was so confused when I started working here, like so many people shared the same last name and a few months in I got filled in.
