Amazing acting, however. Also, while the man is walking past her bed, why didn't she try to grab his leg and tackle him to the floor and rush through the open door downstairs?

In USA, it is legal to shoot home intruders. If the theme of this film was, 'she turned into her own worst nightmare', well, US gun laws beg to differ. Killing in self defense doesn't make you a murderer in the US, if your home in invaded.

The end ruined it.

Living alone in the woods (how close are the closest neighbors?) is pretty brave if you ask me. The rapist obviously followed her and knew she lived alone. Hearing that first noise when she was having her dinner was scary and intense. Then looking out the window and seeing a person in a scary mask was over the top scary. What do you do next? Knowing that the person is going to break in and do harm to you? I guess her phone was not close by? Why didn't she unmask him after beating him up in her bedroom? He looked like he was dragged all the way down to her basement. She is mighty strong to be able to do that. I think her initial reaction when she took off his mask was pure anger and then slit his throat. When he didn't react to the knife slit to his throat, I think the horror of it was realized that she may not have needed to go that far. After killing him (twice), I think maybe the shock and guilt she had, made her kill herself in the end even though nothing was her fault. It's how at times when women blame themselves and think maybe if I did this instead or if I did that? They run scenarios in their mind and put fault in themselves. I think that is the reason why she killed herself in the end.
