Get the Tesla Y Hitch Tips
Learn how a tow/trailer hitch is operated on a Tesla Model Y. The video shows how to mount it and how to remove it again. In 2 min I show you the tricks that took me at least an hour to learn.

Nice
Europe?
How did you get this kit? I do nto find it in the accerssories and parts...!
My tesla did not come with the hitch ball extension that is shown in the video. I paid extra for the hitch install and when I asked for it they said it only comes with the hitch receiver and I have to buy the extension separately. Where can I buy it from ?
It is ridiculous that this j*a** made a video pulling out a nice TESLA bag with all the accessories with no mention on where to purchase. Nothing on Tesla website.
Hi! The process is not correct. You didn't try to join the electrical contact. Nearly impossible!!!
Denmark! Hello from Fyn! Just got MYP 3 days ago. Nice video! Mange tak!
Thanks for the video. Are the 2 red remover included in the hitch bag?
No! I added them
Pressing the little ball is really the only key tip that was needed
Yes! I was banging my head about this one. The whole process is so stupid really...
Here for the remove key trick. Twist, press ball, untwist 👍
Maybe I am doing something wrong but it doesn't work for me
I am a tesla fan, but this hitch could have been a little fancier. Like unfolds from the underside with a tap in the app
SO much agreed!
I don't mind being manual tow hitch, it's a very nice and high quality tow hitch ... BUT removing this trim cover is PITA because it is clearly not made to be easy removable ... and every time you will remove it or install it back YOU WILL make some new scratches to the bumper ... Tesla engineers really didn't figure this out properly ...
Key should only come out once the hitch is installed
Great video, just what I was looking for
Where have you bought those red plastic pieces to remover the cover? They have not been delivered with my towbar 😞
Where did you get it?
I got it in the Tesla app.
I would expect a retractable automatic hitch , controlled from the center console.
That would have been nice! Must say I was also a bit disappointed by it being so manual.
Where did you get the hitch mount?
I got it all in a package from Tesla
What??? I didn't get any of that
Me too. I did not get it.. the sale man said Tesla never sale the package like this. I live in bay area
Super useful - couldn’t work out how to fit this until I saw the video. Thanks!
Horrible focus, reshoot video and instead of focusing on hipster music!
Very helpful, thank you!
Nice video but I am appalled at how Tesla handles this. I picked up my Model Y "with hitch". No explanation, no installation guide, and nothing in the manual. I had to ask Tesla and all they did was refer to this video. Also, the way this is working is kind of pathetic. If you want to leave the hitch on you are left with a big opening with all the holes and hooks in plain view. No consideration for looks. No possibility to take off the hitch without placing the cover back and next time you have to pry it open again. I wonder what that will do to the cover long term. Disappointing.
That is my main concern also, that plastic trim piece does not look to be a "Take off, put on" item. This video also seems to nonchalantly brush past the fact that the "removal tool" (Tyre iron) atleast here, was not supplied. From what i have seen in other videos, it seems you need to source and buy those yourself, which seems poor, i mean, those 2 pieces of plastic would not have cost Tesla many cents to buy for a car that is still relatively expensive.
Can you provide the link from you for this package for the tow hitch?
I got it from Tesla.com
i don’t think they sell in the usa.
They do not.
I which I can get one in USA 😊
Hi! Great video! Thank you so much! Can you please explain how did you get the key out because I cannot figure out even after a lot of trying.
I know - this is a tricky one. Let me try to explain in words: Right hand turns the black open/close forward while the left hand presses the blank ball to simulate that the hitch was mounted on the car. Now letting the black open/close handle go lets the hitch think is mounted and the key can be removed. Hope it works :-)
@@karstenstenderup8845 Of course it worked! Thank you so much, Karsten! I was so stupid I completely missed the blank ball press before. Very kind of you to explain!
Is there a reason why you would want to remove the Key when the hitch is Not installed?
Excellent ! Wish there was more simple, direct and well-edited information like this out there on the (European/Scandinavian) hitch solution !
Is there a better/different hitch solution in other parts of the world?
@@karstenstenderup8845 I think they have different (of course :) ) in the US. I'd say I like the European version more ! Example: ua-cam.com/video/yF5CX9D7ulc/v-deo.html Your solution for removing the backcover was elegant !
I've been looking for a quick way to do this ever since I got my first Tesla and this was very helpful!
