    I had a flamenco handmade for me in 2014. It has really come to life after thousands of hours of playing it. It is spruce top and cypress back and sides with a cedar neck and ebony fingerboard. It is so light compared to my classical guitars. It sounds great for any music I play on it. It was built from plans from the 1952 guitar Sabicas played.

    Do they really call this a dreadnought? I mean, it looks enormous, but the typical Dreadnought shape is very different, much less curvy. I also agree with those who say this should be strung with flatwounds. That bronze zing is sort of unpleasant, IMO.

    Pete, I almost got thrown out of music school because of this. I used to hunch my right shoulder and when I broke the habit, it got worse! Everytime I sat down and used my right hand, a small part of the shoulder muscle would start burning like it was on fire. I could not control it and I couldn't see any noticeable hunching so there was nothing to work on. Here's the solution. If someone or you are gently squeezing the correct part shoulder, that small part of the shoulder will not fire up. So I would practice playing three times on each open string, up and down, while gripping the right shoulder with the left hand. You can do this while watching a movie. It didn't take very long to fix.

    Now I’m gonnna telll u this is crazy man but I just all of a sudden at20 years old started completely dedicating myself to learning Gypsy kings music at first until I understood what flamenco truly a vast genre of guitar was and I’ve been at it 1 year today my bday and the guitar I bought of Facebook for100$ Australian was this aria and I thought it would be fine to play this with classical strings and not modified it like u have blessed me with this knowledge today sir I know god is real oh my god I’ve made soo much progress but sometimes I wonder how much am I missing out with using the aria but u showed me I was spot on

    if you're plugging in, you have the option to use EQ by using pedal or during the mixing process. If you're playing live then you'll have to use a pedal to beef up the tone. the great thing with electric guitars is the flexibility so you can bend or tap more easily.

    Helpful advice Pete. I have a mild shoulder injury which seems might be related to the way I have been holding my guitar. Been trying to adjust the angle of my left arm so as not to aggravate the shoulder. There are a few helpful exercises which can help improve the mobility of the shoulder without causing too much pain.

    I just installed the EJ45FF last week. I think they are higher tension and they do seem to settle in a little quicker. I find that the action is now a little higher because of the slightly higher tension. I think I will make another saddle to get a slightly lower action and I will alternate between saddles depending on the strings I am using. I think I get the same crispness with the EJ49 (black nylon), but overall the sound is fuller.

    Cheers. I was looking at those nylon core flat wound strings and they're over 60 quid. Do you reckon they are a big jump from the 'traditional' flatwounds as far as achieving that honky double bass tone?

    • @duendedude2345
      @duendedude2345 2 місяці тому

      @@big-smoke-rc used the nylon wound strings many years ago on fretless because I figured there would be less wear on the fingerboard but they are too expensive, so now use steel flat wounds. I prefer round wounds on fretted bass. Regarding sound, I don’t think nylon strings are essential for a more upright bass sound.
