Another misrepresentation of synergism. Even the coffee metaphor is wrong. Synergism is the saying “yes” to accept the coffee. There is the free will. It’s not in partially paying for the coffee. The partial paying for the coffee and therefore stealing God’s glory is an old slanderous twist (of semi-pelagianism) and commonly used to confuse the real issue of free will.
No God is not reasonable for everything the devil does his dirty work
Todd tells everyone that Jesus died for YOU when speaking to unbelievers. This is false in most cases. The Gospel is NOT "Jesus died for you".The Gospel is,Jesus is God in flesh who died for HIS PEOPLE,He was buried and rose on the 3rd day.If people believe this, then Jesus died for them,if not,He didn't.
The apostle James hit it on the head. "Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creation"
Aristox hit the nail on the head. The early church also taught synergism, the Gnostics taught monergism. Look it up if you don't trust me. Todd strawmanned synergism, and he also was self contradicting in saying God does all and that we still respond.
That Coffee analogy is poor and inaccurate. Synergism is the man saying "ill buy you a coffee" then going and paying for ALL of it and giving it to the other man and saying "there, drink it if you want". Monergism is the man saying "ive decided you're going to drink coffee" Going and paying for ALL of it and then forcing the other man to drink it whether he wants to or not. Synergism does not preach the whole giving 60c thing.
I guess that leads to the question of who Jesus died for. I really like Shai Linne's song "Mission Accomplished". It explains it really well.
@preachonministries It's the idea that the Big Bang and Crunch weren't exactly the start to the universe, but rather processes it normally goes through.
@preachonministries I didn't claim to "know" the universe is eternal, i claimed to believe it. Just like you can't claim to "know" that God created the universe. And if anyone does claim to know how the universe came to be, they're just arrogant. But anyway, it's part of the idea of a "Big Crunch". That's the idea that gravity eventually pulls everything back together again, and who knows, another Big Bang?
@preachonministries I do not believe in a creator, and I also do not believe that everything came from nothing. I believe that the universe is eternal, just as you believe that God is eternal.
@preachonministries You didn't answer my first question, why do you assume that if one believes in evolution, then they believe that everything came from nothing?
@preachonministries Why do you assume that if someone believes in evolution, they believe everything came from nothing? Where did god come from?
BTW, I found was able to learn that Ray Comfort did provide a complete reprint of Origin of Species. The scientists claim this was after an uproar where Comfort was going to exclude 4 chapters. I find that a bit hard to believe, given the timeline of reported events. I read Ray's introduction, not impressed.
No, no, I can't think God owes me something if I don't believe in God. Like I said, I prefer to live my life for the sake of humanity and use reason. By your standards, I have not found the "truth" but I would be doing myself a disservice if I did. Like you said, the search is over when one finds the truth. I think it's much more exciting to not think I know the whole truth. For example, we don't know everything about the universe. It's uncomprehendingly big, you don't need God to "see" that.
Ok, first you keep saying the THEORY of evolution as if it's "just a theory." How about the theory of gravity? The germ theory of disease? These are things we hold to be true, though they are just "theories." I understand you think you have the truth, and that's all well and ok...but why can't you understand the truth comes to different people in different ways? Other religions may be "true" also. Why are you impeding on science education? You can be Christian and "believe" in evolution.
yes, I saw that, Was not the case when I viewed it some time ago, comments were moderated.
Right, but the fact still stands you can do unlimited acts of terror and GENUINELY repent and still go to heaven. And who wouldn't if there was a genuine fear of eternal hellfire?! What kind of "justice" is that?? I'll live my life morally for the sake of humanity, not because of an ancient middle eastern myth. Fairy tales indeed.
Woah there, I'm not trying to prove there is no God. That is impossible. You do realize you can still believe in God and still believe in evolution, right? Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life. I don't understand why you're clinging to once specific holy book when there are very many world religions and they can't all be right...I am trying to come to a peace though that dyed-in-the-wool religious people will not look at any evidence against anything they believe. I'm sorry.
I went to Ray Comfort's blogspot , found he is currently allowing dissenting comments. quite unlike what I' had seen in the past.
Ray Comfort does have a website/blog at raycomfortfood.blogspot and a UA-cam channel where dissenting comments are censored out. Little surprised and give you credit allowing dissenting comments. Quite unchristian
I have 2 questions about what you were passing out: 1. Did Ray Comfort include a picture of Adolf Hitler in his Darwin introduction? If no, was it originally included? 2. Were all the chapters of Origin of Species included in the book you were distributing? If yes, were they all orignally included? I haven't followed that closely this Ray Comfort promotion, but I have read some strange things raising these 2 questions.
I don't claim God doesn't exist, just that there is no presence of God here. There's nothing in this world that can't be explained by natural causes. I live as a product of evolution, making my lifestyle similar in all respects to the people in fear of God. The argument something coming from nothing fails as God believers effectively claim God came from nothing. Anyway, none of that has anything to do with evolution. Ray Comfort is a dishonest charlatan, typical of all religions.
Soooo is the alternative here that God created man from dust and woman from his rib? That something came from nothing!?! Is that really what I'm supposed to believe. That *POOF* and we were here?! I don't understand why atheists are accused of being closed minded when Christians are claiming their religion is right and the only true way to salvation/not burning in an eternal pit of fire...So if I get this right, I can sin however much I want and then (honestly) repent and go to heaven???
This is about evolution, not atheism. The burden of proof is on you. The evidence points towards evolution. Ray Comfort's introduction does nothing to debunk evolution. All he tries to do is make people afraid of Darwin. Fear is all he, and people like you have.
I wish you had shown more pics of people tearing out the Comfort intro
@preachonministries You also lack is any evidence there is a God. God was only a tool used as leverage to justify slavery in Paul's writings, just as God's a tool for you to exert authority by proxy with that "bend your knee" routine.
@preachonministries What evidence? Sure isn't in Ray Comfort's nonsense. You're aware good old Ray Comfort was going around for years claiming the grocery store banana was a creation of God. He sure got that one wrong!
Sorry, evolutionists aren't open minded at all to the lame brained retarded creationist junk. Quite open minded to all evidence creationists can produce supporting their theory. To date, there's exactly zero evidence.
Ray Comfort is a moron
I would love to hear this entire sermon.
