Thirukkachur is a small village located close to Singaperumal Koil. Kanchi Puranam mentions Thirukachur as Aadhi Kanchipuram or Aadhi Kanchi through which it could be deciphered as to how old Tirukachur village is. The full name of the Temple is Sri Anjanakshi Udanurai Sri Kachabeshwarar Thiagarajar Temple . It is one of the 276 Thevara Paadal Petra Sthalam and the 26th Siva Sthalam in Thondai Naadu. This Temple is East facing but it does not have any Rajagopuram worth mentioning. There is a 16 pillared Mandapam which now looks desolate and totally not in use. It is distressing to see that it has been occupied by the village cattles and beggars in and around that area. The Temple has two concentric layers of compound wall. The first compound wall is taller than the second layer of the compound wall. There is a Dwajasthambam, a Bali Peedam and a Nandhi Vaahanam which is placed in a caged four pillared Mandapam. There are several coloured Idols which are placed on top of the second compound wall to make it look so appealing to any Devotee visiting this Temple. On either side of the Nandhi Vaahanam there are 2 Idols of Vinayagar and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. To begin with there is a multi pillared Mandapam known as Nakshatra Mandapam leading to the Shrine of Sri Thiagarajar. Much to the consternation of the visiting Devotees this Thiagarajar Shrine is never kept open to the public. Both the Temple Purohits started offering various lengthy explanations in not opening this Shrine. Top Government officials ought to surprise here and pull up the Temple Priests for their lackadasical and carless attitude in keeping this Shrine permanently closed. Further away from here there is a Naalvar Sannadhi comprising of the Idols of four Saints viz Thirugnanasammandhar, Thirunavukkarasar (Appar), Sundaramoorthy and Manikavasagar. In the Sanctum Sanctorum Sri Kachabeshwarar is found as a Swayambhu Shiva Lingam and East facing. The Urchavamoorthy Idols are conglomerated and kept in an enclosure. Around the Koshtam of the Moolasthanam the following Idols are seen, Narthana Ganapathy, Dhakshinamoorthy, Lingothbhavar, Brahmma, Durgai and Chandikeshwarar. In the inner peripheral Gnana Ganapathy, Choleeswarar, Kalatheeswarar, Sri Maheswari, Margasahaeeswarar, Nagalingam, Nagarajar, Ramanathar and Kasi Viswanathar are seen. The Ambal is known here as Sri Anjanakshi Ambal and She is in Her Shrine in a South facing and standing posture. In the outer peripheral there are Sub Shrines for Maha Ganapathy and Valli Devasena Samedha Subramaniyar. The outer peripheral has two interesting Sub Shrines and the story runs as follows; Saint Sundaramurthy had sung in several places and had come here and slept without food due to sheer exhaution. At that time Lord Shiva disguised Himself as Virunthitta Easwarar and had sought alms from several other and fetched food for the exhausted Saint. Hence Lord Shiva in disguised is called here as Virunthitta Easwaran and seen in the form of a Shiva Lingam. Beyond this is an Idol for Kaala Bhairavar and Sri Perumkondrai Amman, a Goddess idol is seen near the Kondrai Maram. The Sthala Viruksham of the Temple is called as Kal Aala Maram and the Pushkarani or Sacred Tank is known as Koorma Theertham. It was distressing to see the Temple tank is kept open for the local villagers who were freely using it for washing clothes, bathing etc. The most pertinent plea of the local villagers is that both the Purohits of this Temple bring in some lame excuses or the other and they do not open the Shrine for Sri Thiagarajar. This aspect has to be looked into. There is a huge Temple Chariot who is now kept near the Temple Tank, Koorma Theertham. Vinayagar Chathurthi, Aippasi Annabishegam, Arudhra Dharisanam, Masi Magam, Pradhosham, Navarathri, Maha Shivarathiri are some of the festivals are celebrated in a grand manner.
