I would've expected kenshin to learned that lesson as a kid. Although loving our parents and loving our significant other, Isn't quite the same is it? 🤔
@jasonlives6923 And not just that. This moment served to teach Kenshin how it feels for the loved ones of the people he killed. Now, he's both the killer and the loved one. He lost what he loved because of who he was in this moment.
Watch this subbed, if you can. The scene has much less dialog/exposition, and the antagonist's dying words are "I don't understand women," which seems kind of dumb, but sheds a lot of light upon the psyche of a hyper masculine death-machine.
Tomoe bought Kenshin time. She caused the old guy to stop for a bit, but Kenshin had not much time to stop himself (this was a gamble where either Kenshin dies or lives after landing a hit on the strong old guy) so he ended up cutting her ALONG WITH THE GUY.
@@arktidasagency7968 She's apologizing to him because she developed feelings for his killer. She saw that Kenshin didn't want to continue killing people at his core, and chose to save him. But while helping him to change, she also changed. Tomoe probably intended to kill Kenshin at first. Hence why she has a blade with her. But the blade remained in its wrappings. She never unwrapped it to begin with. Tomoe has a lot of love. Which is why she could forgive even what Kenshin did to her to an extent. But she was also conflicted within herself about it. Idk how long Tomoe intended to string Kenshin along without telling him about her husband he killed. I'm not too sure how long a relationship like that can last. I just get the feeling something like that would boil to the surface eventually. EDIT: (Tomoe has a blade in the LA, I forget if she has one in the anime, forgot this was the anime for a sec because I just watched the LA and it's been a long time since I watched this OVA)
uh I dunno, I always hated these types of situation, like for real tho, that guy killed your fiancée and you not only banged him but you also fell in love with ur fiancée's killer? if I was the guy I'd be pissed so bad, no respect or loyalty. if some bitch killed my wife, I'd kill dat bitch I wouldn't fuck or fell for that chick
she developed feelings for him bruv. She even says herself in the manga and emphasis that "she fell in love with her fiancee's killer". We're only human
It looked like they weren't using dull blades in that movie. It might have really cut the actor if they recreated the movements shown here. Just guessing though.
I wouldn't say the curse was removed, it is more like the curse is complete. Himura Kenshin is traumatized for the rest of his live, will wander and struggle with himself for more then 10 years. And the excuse is ambiguous. It could count for Himura, but I guess it is more for her fiancée, she could not take revenge by killing him, but instead fell in love (which can be seen as the ultimate betrayal). I would say she makes Himura's live (the curse) even harder, and unknowingly she got her revenge. Which she at that moment probably not knew. Or if she knew, the excuse can be more directed towards Himura. Or maybe it is for both. After the war he stopped killing so she eventually won kinda, which was her intention of conversation multiple times in the series.
"If a wound is made by the sword of someone with strong hatred, that wound will not heal until revenge has been exacted." Tomoe knew that Kenshin was her fiance's murderer but she ended up falling in love with him and she left the 2nd scar to remove the curse as expression of her love for Kenshin before her final breath.
@@mak01711 Yeah that's how I felt watching it too. lol I guess it was a different time, as well as cultural differences maybe...Still hella weird though. But on the bright side, this whole situation allowed Kenshin to learn, grow, and become a more peaceful & understanding person.
@@mak01711 Kenshin was not bloodthirsty to start with. He became a swordsman only to become strong and protect cherished lives. Along the way, he chose this life of an assassin so the chaos and slavery of Tokugawa regime could end as he believed a peaceful time will come in the Meiji era. What a powerful moment man

English dub, is so bad, but so bad... please, stop killing the original soundtrack.
I like how in japanese the guy who dies actually said something along the lines of “women moment”
Kenshin killed a man and ficked his fiance. A very bad dude
2 death scenes that hit me bad. Mereum's and this.
can someone explain to me in the movie live, how did the old man die actually? it’s because of Himura sword itself or tomoe did something?

here i am after watch The FInal. i love the similarity of this scene with the LA 🖤
I have a question; 2:54 when Tomoe said 'forgive me' who she apologize to?
Her husband that died.

Hm....why add the shouting? In japanese it's silent (SO much more effective)
