Reinstalling the ripper cylinder on the Cat D5G
Переглядів 338Рік тому
While up at NewTec they told me the Cylinder for the rippers on the D5G was ready, I volunteered to put it back on for them on sunday and found what appear to be loose bolts on the blade, just a routine day and probably be doing it if I owned the machine.
Got to work on the road not the iron today!

Get ready for electrical issues….
Not a bad machine, what was the price on the unit if you dont mind. Im looking at one at the moment. Thanks
2 months later, I never did get that machine. I kick myself in the pants for not. Any how it went for 14k at auction.
With out rippers I may add.
Hi from Scotland sir ,the sloveness is global, standards have slipped everywhere, here people are still fairly well mannered towards each other but down south in london its horrendous, enjoy the vids big chap all the best from sunny Troon
LOL.. been there too! Plenty of machine available, though, next time lighten the ball by scratching dirt off; 2/3's the weight removed.
Hey bud, I try not to use the grab handles as tie down points. They are not designed for that much force. I had slip through eyes welded to all my buckets, much easier to tie down. Thanks for the videos.
Thats quite literally where they tell you to tie it down at! Has the little picture and everything, go live your own life bro.
we primarily used 963 CATs for the heavy work and demo and massey furgeson 50 series skip loaders for the finish grade and made a ton of money as our competitors had their jobsites full of blades, scapers and overhead
Sooooo true!
Very nice work ! Today the " Skip Loader " is one of the most overlooked tools on the market . We are looking at a John Deere 210LE now with the box blade .
Agree
The engine idle seems rather high ! What does it weigh ?
Tier 4, all mine do it.
I don't know if you are in contact, but you might like to touch base with the BC Forest Discovery Centre in Duncan, BC. They survived COVID and are doing well as a museum and railway.
Somebody needs to buy that cat u don't see too many in that good of shape
The d6d was the best dam dozer cat made
You still got the 160?
Yes, it is currently yard art.
Say it ain't so! Les Schwab screwed up?!?!? I'd be more amazed to find a happy Schwab customer. 😉 That ending music sounds like a Ron Burgundy advertisement. Stay classy!! 😁
I very much admire your dedication and ambition. Very exciting for the future of the railroad and your careers. I’m looking forward to seeing you both make this happen!
Oh, do I have a lot to learn from you.... both. You mentioned hamma hamma, Schaefer and Simpson, that's my whole area around me. The history of our area really is pretty incredible.
I thought they shut down
Once, yes. They are rebounding
Unlike the Sugar Cane Train on Maui, Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad seems to be coming back with a bang much like the East Broad Top. :)
@@Chris9017 I know about what happened, so sad
@@TravelingRailfan501 Greedy moguls who own the land wouldn’t let the train run on the right of way. Whereas Mount Rainier is out in the middle of a forest and doesn’t really suffer that problem, and why they’re able to make a strong come back.
@@Chris9017 with the recent maui fires, the sugar cane train will probably never return the mt rainier scenic railroad had an amazing and dramatic comeback
I'm just catching up on your videos. I just got to tell you that I could not be more grateful that you guys are putting in this effort for our children and grandchildren to have this in their lives. Thank you.
5 is my favorite on the roster
Great choice
Any updates?
Is that Richard who is hauling for you!?! I would have never experienced to see him! That is the best guy I have ever used to haul or fix trucks/heavy equipment.
Yes sir it is!
HA! I recognize that lowboy trailer!
YA? It definitely got the job done.
It wasn't very gentlemanly of you to stand in a place where the lady had to keep shading her eyes from the sun. Move your fat ass.
You know you've made it when Paydirt chimes in.
Right? Shittin in tall cotton now!
Looks fixable to ol Jpaydirt LOL
It is very fixable, we are still fighting on it.
You fast forwarded threw the best part, moving snow, an talked the rest, machine videos get the best views, not fast forwarding threw the best part though, thanks for sharing anyway, I watched the whole thing, you had alot of snow, the cold temps have been no joke this year
One persons favorite part is another persons boring. Analytics over two years shows that people don't like watching moving snow, which is all there is to do this time of year.
@@therowdyexcavator yeah your right, thanks for the videos though, there good
@@derrickpettit86 Thank you! If I knew people would watch I would make long videos and not speed anything up at all, but in doing that the channel suffers because the almighty algorithm is not being pleased. So I do what I can.
Try a canon g7x or a Sony of a similar style. Read into it.
you need my lawyer Flywheel Shyster and Flywheel
Will they ever restore number 5
😉
@@therowdyexcavator Is that a yes? I hope 5 gets back on the rails
Same
I’ve always wanted to volunteer to work on the engines
Nice video ! what’s going on over at the railroad?
Waiting right now, we are going to try to get together in between holidays here and do an update video. After the first though we should be able to get going on some progress.
Very cool! As a fellow volunteer, I look forward to meeting you! Subscribed. -Nathaniel
I like trains and old iron. I put money in the Big Boy bucket in Ogden, UT when I was a youngster. Finally got to see it steam across South Texas a few years ago. Hope to be around to watch your progress.
I'm hopeful that I'll get more content here in the next few weeks. Theres nine locomotives up there.
Came over at J. Pay Dirt's recommendation.
Thank you sir!
Im looking right now at buying a new SK130LC-11. What do you think of it? Likes or dislikes. More importantly you seam to be running a few different Kobelco's. How do you like the brand? I live and work 2hrs from a dealer and need to avoid having issues with a machine.
They are great machines. That 130 is really good bang for the buck. Has lots of power for its size. The only thing that I don't like is that the joysticks and seat are all one unit. So if things get rough the machine will start doing the happy dance. But that is something that Kobelco is aware of the issue and making the controls less sensitive. I didn't have the chance to show on the channel but the 130 also comes with the up down blade option which I would get if it was me. That bring said, if I had the option I would get a Kobelco any day, they are fuel efficient, comfortable and dependable.
@@therowdyexcavator All good points I had hoped to get feedback on. Hope you get the 160 in shape and reliable that can be a tough task working on heavy steel.
2:22 the whistle an Ashton 6 inch 3 chime whistle. It was used on Port of Grays Harbor 2-8-2 #5 from until 2003. The whistle was then put on Hammond Lumber Company #17 in 2013.
That out in Snoqualmie? And are you gonna rent something to do jobs until that’s fixed?
Its the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad in Mineral. We are still undecided at this point.
John Deere gets "re-trained" ;-)
KillRoy was here😁
I get that reference! Also referred to as Private Snoops!
But, they own the machine and weren't doing it, so lucky them, they have you to get sh*t done.
16:19 right there was the famous workhorse of the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad, Port of Grays Harbor 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotive #5. It was built by H.K. Porter in 1924 and ran on the tourist operation from 1984 until 2003. I would like to see the following pulling long distance runs: Polson Logging #70 Heisler #91 Hammond Lumber Company #17 Port of Grays Harbor #5 (my favorite)
I hope shay 11 gets restored too. It’s my favorite in the roster
As much as you need a dozer and an excavator you should look at the Kobelco ED 160.
I have, Newtec gets them but unfortunately they are sold before I can look into trying one out. What I really need especially in this hard county and for the long pushes I find myself in is a D8H.
You've had so many breakdowns I agree with Todd, that rental should be on the house. That's completely unacceptable with how much money is being lost due to down time. It also causes you to have to do damage control with clients who may have less than ideal opinions of you because your stuff keeps breaking down...even though it's not your stuff.
Agreed, we showed up on Monday and worked 1 8 hour day, and lost today as well because the brand new grease gun went belly up on the first tube of grease.
At this rate, you should be getting, at the very least, discounted or free rentals.
They'll take care of me, we have talked about it a lot.
This is what I absolutely HATE about renting equipment. But when you're new it takes time to afford buying stuff. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Crap customer service.
Definately, my friend has a D6D that he wan't to sell me and I want it badly, how ever with all the down time I have had in the passed two months its hurt the account.
Just wanted to say your videos are great except you always have something negative to say about every job you've you have done
Love the Deere dozers.
This one was a good one, just the brakes would lock up out of nowhere. I prefer the Deere to the cat in this generation for grading, they are so much better at it.
If New Tech sent all their machinery to you, it'd all get fixed up right. Half-azzing is the new normal. Thank God you aren't "normal".
