This is a video explaining and demonstrating what you need to do if you get an error for a paking brake malfunction. The typical time requiered is around 2 hours, and the cost will range from $300-$1000 depending on what acuator you buy. I am using the OEM so expect to pay around $1000. There are aftermarket for much less, and even used OEM. This is not a very demanding job, as it requires mini...

BMW 2012 X5 35D EGR valve Removal and Cleaning
Переглядів 111 тис.5 років тому
This is a step by step video of how to take apart and clean the EGR valve of a 2012 BMW X5 Diesel. In my opinion, on a 1-10 scale I would rate it a solid 7 in difficulty, 1 being easy. I hope my video can help someone else, and feel free to ask me any questions about the work I did, or about the car itself. Thanks for watching, and don't forget to LIKE the video!!!!!
Tik much talking....
FFS bmw just put a temp gauge in
This was an amazing video! thank you for sharing!
One piece of warning to everyone: Two of my glow plugs snapped while taking them out. To prevent this tighten them just a little before loosening them all the way out. Use a regular ratchet. Also you can warm the engine up and use a vit of pb blaster for each plug. If you snap off the glow plug you have to push them through into the cylinder and fish them out apparently through the injectors. That didn't work for me and now I have a small piece of glow plug in my cylinder.
Thank you very much for this demonstration. I was not inclined to try this myself, as the folks at the garage gave me the impression that this is much more complicated/difficult than it is. Won't let them gouge me on this service again!
that's insane, this is 100% intended to be done by the owner/operator of the vehicle not the dealership!
Well, it was almost painful to watch. I’ll just leave it at that..
Can it be done on an N57?
Thank you.
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I was ready to pay 2K for a new unit... boy, do I feel happy and stupid... :-) BTW, you can use 1/2G DEF bottles, as a handy funnel by removing the bottom part of the bottle.
Gracias por el Video , Muy Bien
Do you have to take the EGR cooler off to access the thermostat?
Yes, it needs to be removed to do this, not a big deal though.
Holy crap how many umms do you say in a day
I just bought a 2012. X5 with the 3.0. It blew a head gasket. I deleted egr. Still made water in oil. It has 142, 000 miles. Would it make sense to do the head gasket and to service everything on top of engine when doing the Head gasket? What I am asking are these engines able to be fixed?
have you ever done the NOX sensors?
No I have not done this yet,
Can you tell me where you got the refill bottles from. I checked on Amazon and while there is a BMW listed version it doesn't seem to state that X5 is covered/compatible.
a.co/d/7bRYCe9 I bought a few of these, and reuse the bottles. Then I buy the bulk containers at a cheaper price. I hope this helps.

Have you ever used a DPF cleaning fluid flush?
Thank you
Great ,can you share the part number ?
Sure, part number is listed in comments, Bosch #F01C600251

46ft lbs for the bottom bolt of the strut to the trailing arm?! Are you sure?
You mentioned the original BMW oil, but the oil that you have listed is Castrol. Is there are not a difference in those two oils
Hi, That's a great question. When you copy the part number in the BMW parts site, the description is Castrol oil, but has BMW branding on the bottle. Logically they source oil from Castrol for Diesel engines.

im gonna have to do this job soon. doesn't look very fun but ill be using this video to help me out. thanks!
It's better to install obd display, but i need transmission temperature which not available in my obd display
Have you test at 1080p with video mode at night?
Not yet, I can try to do that soon, that's a great idea.
Did the other side cable unscrew the same as the one you showed us, just thinking of having a go at mine, Regards
I actually did not unscrew the other side. mine was fairly easy to get done. Especially if you have a lift.
Very well done this is the only video I found on def tanks
Great video I will have to do mine aswell very soon! For a constructive criticism you said the the filler word "hummm" at every 3 seconds and found it hard to keep track of what you were saying during instructions. Don't take it the wrong way, you can only get better!
No mention of torque specs anywhere.
Every mechanic in the world: “look at my big hands”

My T45 bolts are STUCK- any advice?
Uh, um this is unwatchable with sound. I appreciate the effort though.
Good morning, a question, you only have one tank, I have that problem, the level of both tanks does not go down the same, the level on the driver's side goes down more slowly.
Forget the haters, great video here, very helpful
Left dealer after first service a quart low. Thanks for dip stick. Information center said it was full. Castrol is the recommended oil however Amsoil has a better oil for this diesel car.
ummm uhhh
If only the spring of the cooler is broken, you don't have to buy a new cooler. Just buy a small spring from Homedepot. Attach one end to the plastic arm. Attach another end to the body of the car.
The umm learn a new word please theumm
I did this exact job and got everything back together. Now my car goes in and out of limp mode. Eventually I got a code for excessive flow in EGR. Im wondering what I might have done wrong???
Bravo
what parts store you used to order?
Hello, thank you for reaching out. I bought the parts ON LINE from BMW. Usually there is a discount purchasing from the website. I hope you find this helpful.
Paid £1,200 devastated
