@ oh yes definitely, we locked down the parking and room ahead of time. I was on the fence about thunder road complete version, which of course did sell out by Friday, but great game. I still play the first version as it is such a great entry level game for kiddos. Cons no pun intended- they have to work out the game reservations system. Too clunky, needing to third party some stuff, reserve here and there was tedious, and I never felt locked in fully. Need more games, and again more about the reservations system by 8:01 everything I was trying to get into was locked up. 4 friends and myself were at the Reading market for breakfast as per your excellent advice, hovering over our phones at precisely 8:00:0001 to be getting locked out of games. That was disappointing. Pax actually told the gang at baldman games they couldn’t fire the 10:00 game of DnD that I registered for because they didn’t want us there late, and there were a number of us registered folks turned away, sadness ensued Pros Its a giant con in our backyard lol The walking space in the vendor hall is fantastic as opposed to gencon that is tight. Plenty of room to walk freely and stop and look and even sit in on demos They got the vendor hall right, if I go back, I might not register for games but instead just plan to walk the vendors hall and demo stuff. The lending library, wow if you can find something to play here you are far to selective. Plenty of play space and plenty of games to choose from Anyhow Sherpa my 2 cents 🙂 Jt

@johntodd7495 Great list... I pre-booked the Wanamaker (Macy's) parking lot on Friday, and there was a spot waiting for me, but damn that garage is really tight to maneuver.. I dont have a big car, but its an SUV and making those turns into the spots required a few maneuvers to get in... We parked over on Simson on Saturday and it was a much better experience (albeit about $10 more expensive) I picked up the Carnival of Chaos expansion for Thunder Road and can't wait to play it...It is such a great series that I've bought piecemeal instead of Maximum Chrome - which I shouldve at the beginning. That sucks that they killed your scheduled D&D game... When did they tell you? I hope they didnt make you wait around until 10 to spring that on you.. I agree, the aisles were nice and wide and comfortable to walk thru for the most part - that 4300 aisle was GenCon tight tho LOL I couldn't believe all the people in the freeplay area...There were at least double(?) the amount of people in the vendor section there... I walked thru the game library section and it was quite impressive of a selection - i saw some new and popular games on the library's tables (Must have just got returned LOL) Damn, now I want to do a best of/worst of PaxU video - oh well so much for my hiatus LOL I'm moving next week, so i might not be able to find the time tho...

Hey @JohnTodd7495 I don't have anything for Pax Unplugged yet, but I am going (hopefully). I was planning to film some stuff when I'm there and maybe create something afterwards. I'm slowing down til January due to some real-life things going on, but heres some stuff to help... Biggest tip is to find the entrance to the building, and park near it. The First and only time I went - 2022, I parked on the wrong side and we had to walk quite a few long blocks to get to the entrance... Related tip is to get parking locked down BEFORE the show... Go online and find the Philly Parking apps... Next tip is that if you see anything you like in the merch shop, just suck it up and get in line. By the time the merch lines slow down, everything will sell out. Next tip is look into Reading Terminal Market - lots of food places in there! Hope that helps!

@theorderofgeeks 100% agree on both point. Looking back at my older GenCon photos, they definitely had more seating in the past outside the vendor hall. I bet its that overdramatic woman in the video who brought out security who made the decision to hide the chairs so they wouldn't get sat on. The games library was really nice, but we just didnt use it enough to justify the cost of it... Especially when they have the comfy church chairs right outside with plenty of open tables... Unless the overdramatic lady decides to take the nice chairs away next year!

As you could see, we were really struggling to find 10 bad things... Also was a bit of a spoiler to say Best Gen Con ever at the beginning of the video! LOL It would be nice to have more space. The area they have is small, but theres only a handful of people there... Maybe a bigger space would encourage more people - might be a good experiment next year... There have been hotel trips where the first roll of quadruple-ply TP ran out within 4 hours... Without any digestive issues from either of us... LOL

I’ve come to terms with my diet - I actually believe being careful because i have to has saved me from eating way too much junk… lol yeah joking with the missus is a perk of marriage ;) but Gen Con is such a cool thing for so many reasons!

@MrCrowe116 Next year feel free to stop me on my walkthru…. I have no problem stopping and talking to people - especially if they’re being nice to me lol I had a feeling about Comic Hunter, so when I saw it at Barnes and Noble before I left for GenCon, I grabbed it and brought it up with me…. (And got my manual signed) After standing in line for King of New York back in 2015, and finding out they sold all their copies to people in the vendor room BEFORE the doors opened- I’d never wait in a line like that for a game again (promos yes, not games)

Hey Donna, yeah I love the interesting history of places like that, but not the biggest believer in ghosts.. No Facebook Erik is pretty straight forward and debunks a lot of stuff - but he does believe he’ll find something provable someday

Thanks @cindyla - I'm so sorry about that. By the end of editing i was on autopilot, and just figured it was fine since I used it so much in the past...I mustve hit the volume switch accidentally - i know I hate when i watch a video that does that :) I hope you had a great first Gen Con! If it was all about the games only, I'd have probably stopped after my first one ten years ago and just ordered stuff online... Playing with passionate people is the reason I keep coming back... Actually doing anything with people who are passionate about what they are doing makes a HUGE difference!

Loved Rock Hard 1977 - if you have any interest in the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, especially in the 70s) this game really immerses you in the life

The worst part is that you can always avoid it… A lot of events came out after the initial batch of passes and tickets were mailed out… So you had to go there to pick up your event tickets…. As someone who is running event for the first time this year, there has to be a better process for that - I couldn’t scan my attendees tickets, and the deadline was over by the time I got back to my hotel…

@donnakeferlis1649 - Oh yeah, it was a crazy weekend in the best way! Now the work begins! I just posted 200+ pictures on my facebook page (and described them and tagged them - no easy task LOL) and I have a list of about 20 videos that I need to make LOL - Starting off slowly and then we get to the ones that may take a while to film and edit! The Lucha Wars Wrestling one is on the list, but I need some video files from No Facebook Erik :)

@jasongambit1 Thursday and Early Friday I was all over the convention center and Lucas Oil.... My own friends couldn't track me down via text - I was always on the move - There was just so much to see and do! By Sunday I was exhausted and only did 3 miles on that day LOL

@joeltaylor7266 @joeltaylor7266 This one was purely a hotel lobby tournament this year amongst friends... If enough people are interested, we could try to run an actual Gen Con 2025 sanctioned tournament in addition to our Lucha Wars tournament that we ran this year at Lucas Oil...
