Great hack if you must install by yourself, and use the proper precautions. Elizabeth and I take Casper our Gladiator on Pike Gap, a West Virginia Monongahela Forest Service Road. We encounter some narrow mountain shelf roads with steep drop offs! Looks riskier than it was, but still fun. Enjoy! Generally, we don't recommend you go offroading alone. We only traveled on mapped forest service roads, but this is not for new drivers. We have a lifted jeep, 37" tires, a win...

Hi. What roof rack did you use to attach the SmartCap to the OVS 270?
I need to put my rtt on my Tacoma by myself. Was gonna go buy an engine hoist. But I have sheet rock jack! Thanks for the idea.
Could you make a video on how you mounted the tent and awning to the canopy? Thanks!
How well did the shackles do for flat towing?
There not rated as you mention. That’s the smart cap roof load rating. The load bars are much less be careful Note: The load per Load Bars must not exceed 55lbs or 25kg, and ensure the load is distributed evenly. For larger loads, additional Load Bars may be needed, please contact Customer Service for any enquiries.
Great idea
drop a map ping bud!

How did you install your awning to the cross bars
How tall are they above the cap
I just ordered the same evo c for my 2024 silverado 2500 hd. Kind of bummed they don't come with molle panels in the doors like the adventure series. Trying to find out if they can be added. Also didn't see the rear brake light on yours.
Since the gladiator has the rear light in the top/center of the tailgate RSI opted not to offer it. One less thing to have to wire up is nice.

Good Job! Id like to speak with you about your SmartCap to get your opinion and recommendations.
Sure, what questions do you have?
@@4x4friendz Are you happy with the smart cap? Still preforming as it should? I have the white Gladiator and I was looking at the commercial top for this reason. Recommend commercial or if you had to do over would you get the other with windows and paint or bed liner spray white?
@@phillipgordon9932 It is fantastic; this is my second one actually...sold the first one to drop weight for towing last year. then realized I needed one for my cross country trip this year and bought another. IMO the white is a great match for the jeep white, and I would not get one with windows...I dont have a dog to put back there and have no plans to try and camp inside the cap. Its also more secure and less to go wrong. i put it together in a few hours with my wife. I did have a small fitment issue with one of the joining holes between the front panel and roof, it took a grinder to make a hole a little larger, but no big deal and cant be seen once assembled. I put the first one together in a couple of hours with my daughter and it was perfect. This cap and the first cap never leaked. Just follow assembly instructions carefully. It takes 3 average dudes to flip it over and lift in place (assembled upside down) on truck and get the positioning right. The mounting brackets come with feet for the trail rail system if you have it or feet for mounting directly to the bed. I got the second one from Truck Logic and the shipping was free and a bit cheaper vs. Offroad Alliance for the first one that charges shipping. The load bars were on back order everywhere in June so I got compatible bars from Front Runner Outfitters...call them and they make you up a comatible set if you cant find RSI brand load bars elsewhere. Good luck !
Beautiful!!
Love the idea of these how are you liking them. And were there any issues with bolting the skid plate back up.
Hi these are fantastic supwr tough and no issues with skid plate whatsoever they are too far away.
What product number is this. I’m trying to buy for my smart cap.
Why didn't you record the process of installing it rather than trying to explain it in words? Come on now.
My recording got corrupted...I may change the video in the future.
This is a really helpful video. Did you ever consider sleeping diagonally in on the decked system? I have Gladiator with the RSI smart cap and am not looking forward to throwing on the tent. Thanks
Hi, thank you! while I really liked that setup I recently sold the Smartcap, decked System and rooftop tent! I am going to do wedge camper setup this year, will update the channel soon.
Did you paint your SmartCap or is that the commercial version in white? How well is the color match to the Jeep white? I am considering the same setup... Thanks!
Hi, no that is EvoC version that comes in white.
The Jeep Wrangler is a drivable adult erector set. I knew that toy would be good training as a child back in the day.
Where could I get this same bumper
Hi, that's is the oem steel bumper option from Jeep if you order that option vs the plastic version. I'm sure you can easy find one used on Facebook marketplace for people upgrading to different types of bumpers or you could get from a dealer if you had to.
Great walk around and thank you for including the pricing. I need to get those Rock Slide Engineering steps. My wife is 5'2"
Thanks! Coincidentally I sold the RSE steps a couple weeks ago and installed Patriot rock sliders from Rock Hard 4x4. They always worked perfectly bc I always cleaned and lubricated them. But I wanted to drop weight for towing a camper and have no maintenance. They are still a great choice. I will be doing an update video soon on big plans for a build changes.
This is a great Idea. You should show your setup to pull your Jeep
Thanks...I was using elite brute II but I sold it and the motorhome.
Excellent video, thank you for sharing your build.
How did you amount the awning to the smart cap?
Looks flimsy . Harbor freight sells junk.
I'm trying to install this to 392 bumper. I drilled out 9/16 holes on frame horn & knocked out studs to both hooks which didn't require drilling, already 9/16. Did you have any issue where the bolts to shackle tab were a little off?
Sorry I've been so abent from the comments! I suppose you got it fixed months ago...haha...I did have to drill out the frame horns a little bit extra for clearance for some bolts for the shackle tabs...kind of a drill and fit...drill and fit but no major misalignments.
Thank you for taking the time and putting together this video.
Genius!!!
How does the white RSI Smart Cap color match your Gladiator color. Is there a noticeable difference?
Looks like a good, sturdy addition to the Jeep. Can’t wait to see it out on the trail again.
yeah buddy, thanks man! Something else will break before that does, LOL.
Been waiting 3 months now for my RSI smart cap. I hope it gets here soon
Mine took about that long!
@@4x4friendz I an looking at 5
That looked dangerous as hell. I was actually scared for your safety.
I could see why you would say that but it really was not dangerous. The friction of metal on metal and weight of the tent keeps it all in place. I had to force it off the lift. Ive done this many times.
great content, thx. your color matched shell looks awesome
Thank you sir! Got lucky the EVOc cap that comes in white is such a good match for the jeep white.
That setup will definitely work when solo and without your niece and nephew. I’m really enjoying your videos. “Jeep Don’t Care” how you get it up there, she’ll carry it!!
I guess I'll have to tow the hoist to Colorado this spring 🤣 thanks man!
That is one awesome Squatch hunter rig you got there. Can’t wait till you finally get it out to Utah for some trail riding.
Yessir! Haha I hope you will be available to spot!
Nice work, Tony!
Thanks buddy we have to get out together soon!
We had a lot of fun trail riding with y’all.
Headed back your way this summer! No broken down RV this time 😀
Great memories!
Yessir, and more to come when hit Windrock Park in April! Can't wait.
Dude you got the whole Morgan Freeman vibe going on….soundtrack was edited nicely… good job great video
LOL thanks man! Your opinions mean a lot to me.😎
Thanks for views! Was it difficult to assemble? Good fit? 🤔
It was easy to assemble...just a few hours being patient and fits excellent...no leaks!
I’d be curious which model cap awning and rtt you went with.
