How to Install a Smart Switch
Since I talked about smart switches last week, I thought it would be helpful to show how to install a smart switch for those that have not done this kind of thing before. I will talk about what kind of basic and optional tools you might need. I will also talk to you about wiring for both standard and 3-way switches. Of course, I will also demonstrate how to install a smart switch.

    Excellent video. You answered all my questions about assembly and storage. And the overhead video of you clearing your driveway was spot on. Convinced me. (PS-I also have the Toro battery lawnmower and it works great). I think I will get blower unit only and see if the one battery can handle the winter season/snow. Any thoughts?

    • @HomeStuffReview
      @HomeStuffReview 2 роки тому

      It's hard to say if the one battery will handle it, but it does last pretty long. Not sure if the mower comes with the same size battery, but guessing so. It depends on the area you are clearing, depth, density. I think the discount built-in for the combo purchase would be tempting for me rather than potentially having to buy it separately later.

    I have to share a funny story. Last week I went out to use the snowblower. I only made it about halfway through my driveway and my battery died. I was mad. I was thinking that the battery was already dramatically going downhill. I was going to go on here and post that the batter doesn't last. I asked my wife to hand me one of the smaller ones from my string trimmer or blower. She said there is one light one and one heavy one. It turns out I was using the 250Ah batter instead of the 750Ah that came with it. They are the exact same size but very different weight. Whew, I am glad that I don't have any bad news to report.

      I didn't see a smiley face at the end, but you selected a leaf blower to blow snow? There are a few limited times where you could do this, light low-moisture snow. In my video when I talked about getting the string trimmer and blower, I only meant to have some extra batteries for the snowblower. I actually did buy both of these from toro and will do a review when we get closer to spring. I also have an electric zero-turn mower that I can review then too. Hint: I am very happy with all of those.

    • @HomeStuffReview
      @HomeStuffReview 3 роки тому

      Also, I don't know about you, but I am skeptical of all of the "Top 10" lists on the internet (including UA-cam). I think the vast majority are just random unreviewed lists of stuff that people can get a commission on if you click on them. I don't think they have a clue for this ranking.

    Hey folks, maybe you can help me out. I love this bag. Between the bag and contents, I can do about any handyman kind of job around the house. The downside is that this thing is really heavy all loaded up. I am wondering if anyone has any good ideas on lighter weight versions of some of the tools that are practical. Take a look at the contents video to see what I carry in it. If you have any ideas for me post them here or in that video. Thanks. What's in my bag: ua-cam.com/video/jTTQ2qCjf3k/v-deo.html

      Certainly, this doesn't have the power of a bigger 2-sage blower. I noticed that Ego has a new 2-stage electric blower. Maybe this will compete more evenly with the larger gas-powered.

    • @HomeStuffReview
      @HomeStuffReview 4 роки тому

      Best wishes for your recovery. I think you should be fine with the 7.5. I did end up getting the Toro to replace my Ryobi blower and string trimmer. I understand why you wouldn't replace yours. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I will say that I am very happy with both of these. The blower is very powerful. I learned what the practical results are between MPH and CFM. It was still pretty painful to try to blow out the hedge clipping out of my bed after clipping. It is easy with the new one. The string trimmer is very powerful and comes with the easy line replacement -- the one where you just put in a length of line and twist it.

    Would the bottom easily scratch hardwood floors?

    • @HomeStuffReview
      @HomeStuffReview 4 роки тому

      I just checked. There is no exposed metal that touches the bottom. The part that hits the floor is hard plastic. It is actually the four cleats that attach to the packout system. All four of these cleats have not hard edges. They are rounded. In my opinion, I don't think this would scratch hardwood floors.

      That was a concern of mine before I bought it as well. What I can tell you is that mine will stay upright. It is all about the center of gravity of this bag. I took care to try to load heavy tools in the back and light ones in the parts that hang out when unzippered. (Wait that didn't sound right 😁) Anyway, I have heavy tools in the back and also some heavy stuff resting on the bottom of the bag. I don't know if it is about loading them up too much. I think it is more about WHERE the weights is loaded. Mine is quite loaded up and heavy and doesn't tip at all. I think if you can plan to place heavier tools toward the back and/or bottom and not high up or toward the front zip-out parts, you can avoid this issue. However, you are right, this is something that you don't need to think about in a traditional toolbox or bag style.

    I also had Salinas and Sons install a sprinkler system for my home about 3 years ago. The installation was perfect. The way they use their trenching equipment leaves little to no evidence they moved the ground around at all. The system was carefully thought out and planned for my lot, especially for drainage and runoff. I also purchased the Rachio 3 controller and its brilliant. It surveys the weather information and adjusts watering schedules which saves on your water bill. The Rachio is fully programmable, which I have customized to confirm to my township watering rules. Fabian and his father are knowledgeable, professional and have supported my installation well. They're excellent... ***** !
