Australian Rosellas
Gorgeous in color with beautiful flute like calls what's not to like about Rosellas? This is another clip from my film produced in 2010 - Australia Discovering the World of Parrots.
Special thanks to narrator Michael Corkill who did such a fantastic job.

Incredibly adapted to nectar feeding these are Australia's Lorikeets. Varied Lorikeets were super difficult to film and I spent days in heat and flies and recorded very little of them. Thanks for watching!

These are clips from the film I produced in 2010 - Australia Discovering the World of Parrots. While South America may have more species, Australia is unmatched with the ability to see such gorgeous birds flying wild and free in often easy accessible areas. No use of these clips is permitted without permission.

I took some time off from busy projects to join long time birding pal Scott Carey to explore some of the beautiful areas around where I now live. I am so fortunate to live in such a gorgeous area.

I have provided this channel to share with others who enjoy and appreciate birds and other wildlife and a place to post videos I have created over the years. The Australian parrot series was completed in 2010 so the video quality could use an update but I thought from a biological standpoint it would still be worthwhile and of interest. I also am providing a venue for my current adventures with...

Great video, and thanks for bringing us along! Quick question though: does Scott have a permit to be handling protected reptiles in AZ? AZGFD prohibits the handling of both of those first two rattlesnake species you showed (C. lepidus and C. willardi), and poking one with a stick, or manipulating one in any way for the sake of photography, would certainly be frowned upon.

I have been interested in Birds. (I don't like clear sky weather, temperatures above 75° F and my vision is very poor) So? well? I've been having Budgie Parakeets for Pet Bird's and watch what others have on Birds. I've tried a few Audubon Bird Watching Hikes. But the heat and seeing a bird is only and mostly has been from others spotting them and then they skid-dished off when I strained to focus on their designated spots. My mental knowledge is slow to grasp an understanding about them. I live on the West Coast of Washington. I like the cold weather and overcast. And is this Channel going to have more Bird Videos?

As soon as the temp reaches 45 C we get hundreds of mask lorikeets coming to the shade tree and bird bath , some drop from the tree but we are able to place them on the bird bath and make them drink , we save most of them, but sadly a few dont make it....you know when they have come back to their senses when they turn to sink their beak in to you....

Madera Canyon, new place to check out on my list. I learned about the snakes. You want to see what type of backstop the snake has or is it on open ground. They can only lunge far if they have something to push off from like a rock edge or a trunk of a tree. That's when you need to back up past twice its length and if coiled up. Those birrds are so cool to see. I am amazed at how much sugar a hummingbird needs to eat to stay active. Each one has to be an expert forager to every find that much nectar. Thanks for the footage.

Great video Don! We can't wait to go explore Madera Canyon - it looks beautiful. We also have Alot of friends asking why AZ? It's so hot... LOL Then we go on and on about the "high desert" but we are starting to just say "cause we're crazy"... We love how uncrowded the Sierra Vista area is and we are loving it! We hope you are doing well and look forward to more videos on both Channels. Have a Happy Holidays! P.S. We're waiting for our Tilley hats to arrive in the mail! 😊

I love this video! Thank you so much. Since I've been caged like a bird, I am learning as much as I can about the birds around me. I bought binoculars and can identify a few of the birds outside my window. I live in Chandler AZ and am fortunate enough to have an empty field next to my apartment. I have seen a pair of hawks that hunt the field....my heart nearly explodes when I see them...they are magnificent! They have become my friends. Again, thank you for this video...I'll watch it until I memorize each bird. Thank you for taking the time and using your expertise to make AZ come alive. It means a lot to me!!!!!! Thank you

Don, thanks for this channel, and starting it off with Aussie birds is awesome. We are blessed here to have beautiful birds of all sorts. I am especially enamoured with crows, magpies and butcher birds. The latter two work hard on their carrolling songs, and it is so pleasant to hear them practice. What have you got up your sleeve after these Aussie tapes? Oh, and do not for one minute think that this absolves you from your homesteading journey. I still look forward to some trail cam footage from around your pond.Rich.
