takes a few runs to get use to the speed and lack of braking traction because of the speed...... and 50 Hits should be named 50 different ways to build a jump to catch you out. Race Track was EPIC though - loved it and the park in general - difficult place to film because it all happens so fast and difficult to follow to close. Thanks

I was doing Rudry until last minute....... the 'warm up' climb is always a treat. You can be our guide next time we head up there !!

This is the age groupers 50-59 G Vet.... the Vets 40-49 set off 2 mins before us and the S Vets 60+ set off 2 mins after us..... so 2 Laps in is tough to know who you are racing. All good fun and really friendly.

@@russridesmtb6060 yeah was a good day, i was there with the nukeproof scout owners group for the day, smashing about on the HT was a blast but was having the same issues with my legs, just couldn't stand up for long. haven't been to BPW since 2018 so it was all new to me again, flowy blues were too much fun on the HT though

Tbh riding cx on off camber muddy roots is good training for xc. Probs blue/ red grade - no gaps/ drops. Some tracks are more technical/ steep than others. You can ride any mtb - i use an xc hardtail. A full suss xc 100/120mm is the preferred option (budget depending). I did the welsh xc champs 2 years ago on the G160 with Magic Marys - hard work but fun 😂. Thanks

Be nicer on the descents - i would stay on the HT- more efficient on the pedals…. Could always run some quicker tyres too

The Welsh XC Rd 1 Builth Wells was back in March - complete Hike a Bike mud fest...... yuck.... I have Rd 1 of the National Series this weekend in Cannock Chase.... fingers crossed for 'dusty trails' :)

thanks - the rock drop was the only 'techy' feature - there was a 'b' line to avoid it too. It was a great course and I hope they keep it the same. Great fun, 1/2 lap in and nobody knows who's 1st or last..... you just keep pedaling.

yes - theres a couple of steeper ones there - 1. Up The Dunster, 2. K2, 3. Garlic, 4. Champery - right to left and in order of difficulty - all off the same access trail.....be fun this time of year. Although Draethen is draining well, cheers

its a great series in the South West and Gramacombe Woods was one of the best courses i raced at in 2023... that race i used a trek X Calibre 9 - its always a trade between weight or grip (hardtail generally lighter and full suss extra grip/ comfort)... i found a dropper post more important really... although quite a few still race without one (me included for most of this year). Just accept it will be fun, your legs will be screaming and you can only get better !!

You should, i did ride it last year and was similar to Llangollen in a few ways - some loose steep sections and a long killer fire road climb with 2 tech rocky areas - was a fun track though and really enjoyed it.

@@russridesmtb6060 what was the issue with the trek ?

the bike is great and a huge upgrade over the Specialised Rockhopper i was using last year. I just wanted to reduce the weight... the Trek is 14kgs and the new one 10kgs... so better acceleration and performance on the hills. Really i wanted a lock out for the fork and better brakes and was going to upgrade the parts on the trek.... then pulled the trigger on a bike i saw.

🤣 - could of passed another 4 and caught you up then 😎. I stood in for you on the podiums and picked up your 3rd place - i'll bring it to Cannock !!
