Stumbled upon this piece while clicking through choral music recordings. Clicked it, not knowing what to expect. When it finished, the tears wouldn't stop falling. There were so many emotions this piece made me experience in the span of a moment. Grief, uncertainty, hope, love, and most of all, that tender feeling that tells you it's going to be okay. Now here I sit, a sobbing mess of a man touched by this piece unlike any other. If I could go back and experience this song again for the very first time with a fresh set of ears, I would do it in a heartbeat. Your piece was a light that has helped me out a dark place tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

this really is stunning, having only listened and performed the Esenvalds version of these words by Sarah Teasdale, and I can say with confidence this is every bit as, if not more, beautiful.

Omg that ending🤍😭 As an alto I loooove that 9th clash with the soprano. Utterly beautiful. I’ve sung this poem to a different melody and it’s really interesting to see a more melancholic approach

I've recently come across your pieces randomly on a rabbit hole of choral music and I genuinely think you might be my favourite composer of the 21st century. I have never heard music like this, it's like what I hear in my head but never know how to transcribe. I wish I could write like you it's just gorgeous
