Indeed the Dayton Audio PC68 sounded amazing for that size. However, I was also surprised by the sounding of the Visaton SC4.6FL.
I was watching this video with great interest and many thanks for documenting the different sound signature of various speaker. The Dayton Audio seems to sounds best for me, and the Visaton SC 5.9 is the less sounding one for me. However, I have a few questions and wondering if you could advise. I was curious if port is even possible for speaker of such size. Separately, I was curious that given that our application are RC Tanks, will an angled speaker that is slight taller might be more suitable. I noticed that most other speaker have the driver pointing up, but how about a slight incline instead. Any thoughts and advise ?
Dah! I bought this servo relay converter and it's not working. Would you know why? TK 7.0, same wire setup, maybe the servo motor? What kind is yours, much thanks.

Nothing wrong with small amps I really like the Roland micro cube for that reason at one time I had four running at once each on a different amp model fed by two pedal boards using the dimebag crybaby wah as a splitter up front and each pedal chain ended with a Mxr eq which split to two that doubled gave me the option to run the four micro cube amps with no hum hiss or ground loops! That’s when I got one of the splitter devices from Rene Martinez can run up to six amps I parted with the micro cubes and went quilter micro blocks, and am currently trying to incorporate three pedal boards each per own amp pedals differ each chain there’s the Hendrix board, srv board, and Clapton esk board. Oh yeah that micro cube setup was fairly loud for the little 3 watt amps. One of my favorite mini amps is the peavey 5150 micro amp ran on adaptable power supply at 3-5 volts at 3 volts it’s pure fuzz that cleans up beautifully at 5 v there’s a hint of fuzz. Rock on bro!
This video was very helpful thanks for sharing it. Those boxes are very nice looking you make them yourself?
Thank you for your kindness. Yes, they are made by me, using a Laser machine.
Very cool, didn’t know if you were showing your work or someone else’s, but that’s awesome you have some skills. I seen some of your hobby posts that lead me here I to have some music experience but not at your level. I was thinking about making a splitter plug for cn9 like running two guitar amps to help lower the input to each stock speaker maybe making them less crappie but believe you have solved it and showed the way to go. Thanks again looking forward to trying to incorporate this mod into my sons Abrams and my merkava. I see the building the right size box being the hardest part.
@@scottbrodie3071 Indeed. The only tank that Dayton speaker fitrs in, is the Abrams (which my latest video of that tank has it in) Too many tankers in the hobby insist on Visaton speakers, when they simply dont understand speakers in general. Are you sure you ordered the right ring adapter? There are several versions of the adapter corresponding to the different 007 models, eg. A, V, S, SP etc. I have one of these adaptors for my SP and the snap on locking ring fits tighter than the stock PARD one. The PARD crosshair is only an alignment and orientation tool. It does not need to match your crosshair perfectly because all the PARD is doing is staring at the scope picture. It all works off of your scopes existing zero. Technically even with the adapter flapping around like yours your shots should still go where the scope reticle is aiming.

It should definately be a better fit considering the price but just one observation. When fitted you are looking at the crosshairs inside your scope so the point of impact will not change no matter how sloppy the fit is. The image will move around but the crosshairs are fixed relative to your scope alignment. not the PARD
Yes, I know. Been shootong for over 50 years..well versed on optics. The PARD unit has crosshairs as well, which can be and are aligned with your scopes crosshairs. Taking pictures and/or video with the PARD, and having the 2 sets of crosshairs mis-aligned looks silly. Imagine everytime looking through your scope and seeing 2 sets of crosshairs. Try it out....especially on a hunt.
@@kennethrich2107 Hi, why would you ever want both sets of crosshairs in view? The PARD unit crosshairs are only a tool to help during setup, once done switch them off then you only have one set of crosshairs. By the way, Been shooting over 60 years......and well versed on optics!
You are right, you can indeed turn off the PARD crosshair alignment. As stated, it does NOT affect shot placement. What it does however, is skew the crosshairs in the photos and video. In my case, a portion of the lower part of the crosshairs are not visible. I was expecting full field of view as seen through the scope. Savvy ? @@fxpeter22
Yep, I see where you are coming from on the photos and vids. I have my PARD fitted to a First Focal Plane scope which has a low base mag so on the low setting the reticle is completely visible with plenty of space around it. Does it have the option to turn off "super spin"?
That I dont know. I never use super spin myself, so in all honesty I couldnt tell you.
Okay. I bought one. It doesn't have the option to turn off "super spin" (neutral steer). It does have an adjustable momentum effect they call "start up tank speed". This is a feature they copied from clark tk boards that I like but strangely on the Tk26 it only effects the forward/backwards movement and not the steering which is very stupid. If you turn off the mixer in settings (they call automatic mode) so the two drive motors are totally separate the momentum setting only effects 1 channel/motor.
That is strange. Thanx for the heads up@@schmitty1944
@@kennethrich2107 Thanks for this review. Overall I think this is a nice product especially for what it costs. For a serious RC model tank enthusiast it has its drawbacks. Next we need to get one working in a tank and test its IR battle compatibility with Tamiya, Heng long and other tanks/boards.
Roger that. As stated, for the money, and for what you get, its hard to beat. Imagine if Canshuo would incorporate the ability to add sound packages, it would be incredibly awesome. I have this board in my Leopard and it performs well IMO. I cant speak on the IR ability, as I dont do any IR battling, hence all IR equipment is gutted out of all my tanks.@@schmitty1944

Good afternoon, maybe this is a strange question, but do you have some instructions how to modify this smoker? Because I want to buy tigen js-2 and replace the stock smoke unit with this one
The description of the video pretty much sums it up. I take a stock HL smoker and get rid of the Blower motor. After grinding down the tube, what your left with is a small hole in the side of the tank. Buy a 5v 25mm brushless fan and glue it to the side where the small hole is. On Taigen boards you must combine the Fan & Heater coil JST into one plug. I get my fans off of eBay.

@@kennethrich2107 hi Ken, the henglong smoker and the 25mm fan has arrived. The hole for original fan is small. I'm assuming that the hole needs to be enlarged to accommodate the 25mm fan? Also, the 2 wires from the smoker plug directly back into the smoker connection on the taigen V3 board?. However , the fan wire connect to 7.2v and ground so that the fan is always running at full speed, am I correct?
@@Andrew-dz3gq No sir. Actually it does not. I have experimented enlarging the hole myself and it does little to increase the output. Just make sure the center of the fan BLADE is over the center of the hole.
@@kennethrich2107 am I correct on the wiring?
@@Andrew-dz3gq Yes. On the Taigen board, you combine both the heating coil (smoke box) and the fan into one JST connection, plugging that into the smoker port. This gives you proportional smoke, meaning the faster you drive the tank, the more smoke comes out. Only the polarity of the fan is important (so the fan spins in the right direction) The heater coil has no polarity. The unit will now only operate when the button is pressed on the transmitter. IF you want maximun smoke, then the fan must be wired constantly hot, as soon as you turn the tank on. This is done by wiring the fan positive lead through the switch that powers on the tank, and the ground from the fan to the negative lead of the battery. The heating coil will then be the only connection into the smoker port on the Board.
What is the part # and where do I find the 2 pin connectors for speaker wires?
Which speaker do you need the part number to? Also, my second video shows my favorite Dayton audio speaker which is smaller yet delivers the same low end sound quality. The speaker connectors (and just about all connectors on RC Tank Motherboards) are called JST 2.54mm 2 pin which can be found just about everywhere including Ebay & Amazon. Will this work with Taigen/Torro tanks?
Yes sir. As with any combination of tank brand/motherboard, its a matter of finding the wires that control each function. Such as: Barrel elevation, turret rotation, headlights, etc etc. Then its a matter of placing those in the corresponding plugs in the board. If you know Taigen/Torro tank pinout, then its pretty easy. The one thing that may throw you for a loop is Taigen/Torro Smoker. Remember, its a 1 JST plug hookup. unlike this setup which mirrors Henglong (2 JST). But thats easy to make work of course.
Sounds like a fun project. I need a new smoker anyway.

John, I doubt it. I could only reccomend this speaker in Larger Tanks such as the Abrams (which I have it in) Leopard, Etc. However, if you look at speaker shootout #2, The Dayton PC68-4 at 2.5" is really impressive and should fit in the Tiger 1 especially if you move things around, such as the smoke box. Most of the speakers I have made, I had to do this. Take measurements to insure the height of the box/speaker will allow turret rotation and not get hung up with barrel elevation-important. Because I wack the plastic off of the lower portion of the recoil mechanism during my Servo conversions, I dont have to worry about interference for the most part.
